Prepare the testosterone injections! Apply the baby oil! Shave your head! Get a tattoo! Hammer the triangle button! Kratos is back!
Yes, everyone's favourite grumpy killing machine returns to the PS2 in the near future, and today Eurogamer got their feeble mortal hands on a hot-off-the-press demo version. Cue excitement and exclamation marks!
From the preview: "It's hardly a startling revelation to note that the game's visuals are sumptuous in the extreme, but Sony's LA studio has - on this evidence - topped even the original in how far they've managed to push the dear old PS2. Without exaggeration, God of War II looks as impressive as any so-called next generation effort - and you know when a PS2 game looks good when you can get away with running it on a big, hi-def screen without wincing. Replete with prog-scan mode and widescreen, the game still manages to pull off every graphical trick the PS2 is capable of without any noticeable frame rate drop or glitch. And it's not just impressive in terms of the technical tricks it's pulling (lovely dust motes, by the way guys), but the sheer artistry that has been infused into every corner. Every potentially bland corridor, every empty room comes alive, and benefits from probably the best automatic camera system ever invented. No camera complaints here, sir. Have an entire box of Jaffe Cakes."
Cultured Vultures: Let’s delve into Kratos’ long and rampageous history and find out which games are worth the hype and which are better left buried under the weight of Kratos’s might.
Both requels over 2 and 3? Clowns. Those are two of the most boring games I've ever played.
My favorite was part 2 and I think Ragnarok is better that 2018.
There is no worst. Except for Ascension, only cause I didn't play it lol. They are all masterpieces. 1,2,3, 2018 and Ragnarok. 1 of, if not the greatest video game franchise...besides MetalGear.
Can't agree, older games do so much more than the last two. More weapons, magic abilities, enemies are more varied, level design is also more aesthetically pleasing, and agree with those who say that they shouldn't have removed jumping. Was a time I'd agree, but those old games are so so much better, that they really should've looked into bringing into the reboot/sequels.
Take it down the memory lane with this ultimate list of the best PlayStation 2 games of all time. Just the best of the best right here.
It's so disappointing that to this day, I have not seen a game match what BLACK offers in an FPS.
The greatest console of all time !!!!
The last console from when gaming was pure, games didn't take 5 years to release, no online only, no half finished games, no mtx.
Ps2 was just banger after banger after banger.
It will always be my favourite.
Cultured Vultures: We're about to make some of you feel ancient as we reel off the best PS2 games from generations past.
I don't know about 20, but I know Dragon Quest VIII, FFXII, and Persona 3 are my top 3.
No particular order. Not a huge JRPG guy, but these hit it home for me.
Fairly solid list, would only change a few, I'd put onimusha in there, ico, personally would have vice city.
Then again I'd double up on some series dmc 1, all 3 gtas, both metal gears, all 3 jaks.
Ps2 was just crazily stacked really, every time I think back on it, those were the good days of gaming.
