Ghost of Tsushima has a button to flick the blood off your sword

You can shake the blood of a katana in Ghost of Tsushima at will.

This is kinda cool lol, I imagine there will be some good pics out of this.

DarXyde1795d ago

My hope is I can do that to lure enemies over to the source as I'm waiting in the shadows.

IRetrouk1795d ago

Yeah that would be a good use for it, hopefully it is for more than just looks, will be fun finding out

gravedigger1795d ago

Yeah! Saw that during State Of Play showcase.

UltraNova1795d ago

What would be even cooler is to use that blood dripping off the sword to throw it on an incoming enemy and temporarily blind them so you can attack. That would be a cool Ninja/Ghost move.

phoenixwing1795d ago

Cool even though it's definitely superfolous

Tapani1795d ago

Two things:

First of all, it's superfluous.
Secondly, chiburi is not a simple concept. Start with these:

1. https://en.wikipedia.org/wi... / To understand what it is.
2. http://www.iaidotsj.org/wp-... / To understand some of it meanings.

There are university papers about the concept as well in Japanese.

phoenixwing1795d ago (Edited 1795d ago )

I'm saying not saying the act of cleaning your blade is bad I'm saying tieing it to a button prompt is overkill

purpleblau1795d ago

wow, I didn't know that there is so much history and culture to this action.

sprinterboy1795d ago

Cheers for the links, I guess we've generally kept traditions and things like that with most weapons today to keep them in top notch like gun oil to clean you weapon, sword, knife, leatherman, bow etc even now.
At the end of the day you look after your tools wether a weapon or DIY drill, screwdriver etc. If you don't look after things they don't work especially when life and death is priority.

russo1211795d ago

Always learning, thanks for the links

CorndogBurglar1795d ago (Edited 1795d ago )

I didn't read the 2nd link because I didn't want to download the file. But does it mention anything about swords sticking in the sheath if left too long with blood on the blade?

This would be a cool mechanic. In gameplay videos we've seen times where the player os standing ready with his hand on his sword while still sheathed, then drawing it quickly and slashing in the same movement for a single hit kill.

Could be cool if his draw speed is slowed down if he didn't flick the blood off of it after his last kill.

Just a thought....

It's not overkill if you're going for authentic representation of a pretty important moment in a countries history. It also shows the awesome level of detail suckerpunch went to to breath life into the game lastly as someone who actually does kenjutsu it's great to see a devs spend time to include something so important lots of them get Noto down but rarely even see Chiburi hell it's rare to see it in movies.

S2Killinit1795d ago

Maybe if you dont the blood trail can give you away

goldwyncq1795d ago

Or not cleaning them off will make them less effective over time, like the guns in RDR2.

Rimeskeem1795d ago

Just remember that Naughty Dog made it so Drakes chest hair would be moved by wind. Sony developers are known for their extra details.

Good. Because I'm going to be flicking a lot of it from the the atrocities I'm going to commit on the Mongols and anyone else that stands against the blade.

It was a great game.
All my Japanese friends loved it.
I remember I would visit my friend who owned a bar and we will talk about the game and sometimes other Japanese dude will join in. Pretty dope

-Foxtrot25d ago

That’s great and a little hilarious how when it was revealed western journalists tried to give off the impression that it came off racist with it being made by non Japanese developers.

CrimsonWing6925d ago

I hope western culture knocks this sh*t off. F*cking Parasites Eve took place in New York, does that make Square a bunch of racists?

-Foxtrot25d ago (Edited 25d ago )

Reminds me of Resident Evil

RE4 - Leon killing infected Spanaids...in Spain

Fine

RE5 - Chris killing infected Africans...in Africa

WHAT THE ACTUAL F*** YOU RACIST PRICKS. HOW COULD YOU DO SOMETHING LIKE THIS?

MDTunkown24d ago

-Foxtrot
RE5 case it’s not that long ago when foreigners were killing local Africans. Leopold 2, killed millions Africans. So that’s a touchy historical topic. We don’t have any story driven games where you playing as Nazi.

goken25d ago

Somehow the same western journalists said nothing of AC shadows, when some Japanese were so offended they discussed it with their prime minister in the diet (Japanese parliament).

-Foxtrot25d ago

I've never actually thought of this...

They literally got really snarky with Ghost of Tsushima since it's announcement yet with AC Shadows they said absolutely nothing.

Double standards. Was it because it was Ubisoft or what?

Michiel198924d ago

how the f can you say this after literally everyone complains about AC? So you wanna say you checked which outlets did it for ghost "supposedly" and cross referenced them to the AC reviews? very believable

Cacabunga24d ago

western journalism is all about splitting of communities.

1Victor24d ago

Don’t bother with obscured his last 2 brain cells died when he realized ALL NEW XBOX “EXCLUSIVES “ ARE COMING TO PLAYSTATION
It’s so bad he wrote the answer to his IQ leve as a new account, instead of writing iq 6 yeah he wrote YQIA6🤣.
NOW BACK TO THE TOPIC
Everyone knows that Japan lost their relevancy as the source of video games decades ago so it’s no surprise to anyone with 2 brain cells that this would happen now I would like to see any Microsoft exclusive have the courage to say how many units halo sold in Japan or better jet the number of consoles sold in its totality 🤷🏿

senorfartcushion24d ago

?

It's a AAA videogame. Western journalists only like and care about these games. It's Yotei that's lroving controversial, for stupid reasons - but it's journalists who are trying to talk that game up.

One dumbass ruins it for everyone

Eidolon26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

It was many incidents and defacing that lead to this, a lot of racism(slurs, notes, graffiti, etc.) and disrespect(like littering, dancing in inappropriate places.) Only see reports of incidents involving Eastern Asians.

lukasmain26d ago

Can you explain to me as best you can, what type of incidents and why they would deface it? And who would do it usually and why? Any info you could provide would be greatly appreciated. I know nothing about this or the reasoning

Inverno26d ago

My mind always goes straight to us Yankees, then I'm reminded of how equally full of shite the rest of the world is. Seems most of Japans problems with tourists have been either Chinese or Koreans. Don't talk to me about racism if you can't acknowledge it happens well outside the US.

pwnmaster300026d ago

It’s true. I lived in Japan for many years and know several Japanese and they always say the same thing.
It’s the Chinese and Koreans that give them the most problems. I’m sure Americans have there share also of being annoying but for some reason, Koreans, chineses and Japanese can never get along. Probably due to history.

goken26d ago

It isn’t hard to understand why Koreans and Chinese have issues with the Japanese,
The Japanese basically made some Nazis go: “woah! This is a bit much!”

The Japanese made those responsible Deities in a shrine, refused to acknowledge and properly apologise and proceeded to make themselves look like the victims…

Imagine if the Germans did this, imagine if German made hitller a saint

MeteorPanda26d ago

To be honest....kinda understandable why the koreans and chinese share no love for japan but my mind then asks...why you visiting?

Tapani26d ago (Edited 26d ago )

Been here 15+ years in the last two decades and when I complain to taxi drivers about the foreigners and they always look at my white-ass face like I'm kidding, but soon realize I'm serious. Then we engage in a discussion on how foreigners certainly bring money here and increase the softpower of Japan, but also have the potential to ruin a lot of things. It's always a bit funny, but those of us who live here with a local family stuff like this is unforgivable.

It is very well known it's typically five places (US, China, Korea, Australia, England) where the idiots come from, but it is hard to blame the specific nationalities themselves because statistically they have the largest portion of tourists here.

WelkinCole25d ago

Huh? Chinese tourst are notorious. Not sure where you get the yank stuff from. Americans are known to be loud but are generous. I don't remmeber any incident of any American wirting on things or shitting at special places.

raWfodog26d ago

Never underestimate the depths of human arrogance and stupidity.
