Final Fantasy VII: Remake – The Most In-Depth Review (ThisGenGaming)

TGG says: "Final Fantasy 7 Remake is a love-letter to the source material. It does a much better job at telling the gripping story and makes you feel for the inhabitants of Midgar. Lay to rest any worries you may have had over its length as well, as this first “episode” will provide you with a full game’s worth of content. It’s a true masterpiece and has quickly jumped up to the top of the list as my favourite entry into the series."

A real love letter wouldn’t have such bad textures like they ran out of budget or something.

bloodyspasm1628d ago (Edited 1628d ago )

The textures aren't bad, they load too slow. Don't know what causes that but could very well be the PS4's fault. We're at the dawn of a new generation and I'm curious to see how the new hardware will handle it.

Would have loved to compare this on a PC or Xbox One too (but that'll have to wait a year)
(FYI: I didnt downvote your reply 😅)

HeisenbergX1628d ago

Those textures are only in the couple of those hub areas where you can walk around and do quests.. and they are only very noticeable when it’s daytime. But it will be fixed, it has to be so no worries there.

Nacho_Z1627d ago

If you think a game is a 10/10 for many substantial reasons then I don't think a few dodgy textures is going to drop it to a 9. Not a big deal really is it.

bloodyspasm1627d ago

Exactly this. I couldn't rate Ori & the will of the wisps a 10/10 because that game really did have technical issues even after the launch. But if the only strike against a game are some texture issues and perhaps an NPC who get re-used...

Vetalka831628d ago

game is too boring to me,personaly i prefer 15 over this!

bloodyspasm1628d ago

I had a lot of issues with 15 myself. it was so obvious they rewrote the story a couple of times and the pacing was way off. I still had a great time with it, but I could never shake the feeling that an extra year in the cooker could have done wonders.

My biggest complaint is perhaps how the DLC had to have been in the main game as what happens there is important to the plot. not to mention that you needed to watch an anime and a movie to get the whole package.

LightofDarkness1627d ago (Edited 1627d ago )

No accounting for taste, it seems.

XV was as utterly mediocre as XIII, with many of the same design flaws, yet XIII was a more complete experience.

XV = 6/10
XIII = 7/10

I haven't complete remake yet, but so far it is leagues beyond the tripe you just compared it to.

Vetalka831627d ago

and i'm not a fan of 15 at all.

Elda1627d ago

Deserving score! So far the game is a gem.

bloodyspasm1627d ago

The remake fixes a lot of the issues I had with the original, that's for sure. While still hitting you in the nostalgia feels

NukeDaHippies1627d ago

I don't think this guy played very far.......

bloodyspasm1627d ago

What would make you say that? Because I don't spoil the ending like IGN did? I've got 38 hours on the clock, beat the game and completed almost all of the side content. Going at it on Hard now 🥰

NukeDaHippies1627d ago

You couldn't experience some of the added stuff and still say it's perfect, can you? You don't need to spoil an ending, but the final sequence is a complete nonsensical mess.

bloodyspasm1627d ago

(Since you're talking about the ending, without spoiling anything: I freaking loved it and it has me VERY excited for the next part. It's a remake, not a 1:1 representation of the old. FF7R fixes a lot of story issues I had with the original, so if they don't go absolutely over the top, I'm fine with it.)

This Guy Rebuilt The Original Final Fantasy 7 In LittleBigPlanet 2, And It's Awesome

Nearly 27 years after the original game's release, Final Fantasy 7 superfan Jamie Colliver has finished his magnum opus: A shot-for-shot remake of the original PlayStation 1 game, created entirely via LittleBigPlanet 2. Colliver's remake reimagines the original game as a platformer, with every scene, every location, every line of dialogue, and every song from the game's OST painstakingly implemented .

The effort here is impressive. Hope it doesn’t get taken down.

fr0sty49d ago

He should have done it in Dreams though, the limitations of having done it in LBP are obvious.

solideagle49d ago

ah Dreams had so much potential, I think they should have released it on PC. one can only dream about dreams sale and popularity on PC. PC has modding/creative crowd and I think it would have been a hit

I love seeing projects like this. So much passion and time.

No mention of fixing the audio issues the dialogue audio is too low this has been reported many times on social media the volume has to be turned up and music has to be lowered to hear the characters properly :(

Babadook7112d ago

I have a question as someone who is considering buying the game soon. Is this a fixable issue? Can you just lower the volume for music and sound effects and keep dialog at default?

shadowT112d ago (Edited 112d ago )

yes, it is no issue at all. Just go into settings. Do you have already played the first Remake or the OG?

M3talDiamond112d ago

There are a few youtube videos and reddit tips with some tips on fixing the sound issues but sadly they didnt work for me

M3talDiamond112d ago (Edited 112d ago )

@Babadook7 There are a few videos on youtube with tips on how to fix the dialogue audio this but sadly they didnt work for me. There is an option to lower the music and sfx and keep the dialogue audio at 10 but you have to keep the volume up high (well for my TV I do) but when you are in battles and cutscenes the audio is higher so you have to adjust the audio again.
@shadowT The audio issues doesnt affect everyone there are some people on reddit complaining about the audio and there are other people saying they dont have any issues at all. I think it depends on the TV I have a Samsung QLED 4K and FF7 Rebirth is the only game I have audio issues with.

Babadook7112d ago (Edited 112d ago )

Thanks for the answers all.

@Shadow yeah I have the Remake and finished it and loved it (loved the OG also back in the day). My understanding is this is even better than Remake.

Yes Tonberry is terrifying..

MeteorPanda143d ago

The way it was handled was so dumb. One shots in melee...your teammates are to ostupid to get away from its attack. So you most often end up alone in a certain fight.

Hofstaderman143d ago

Two words, one accessory....Safety Bit

MeteorPanda143d ago

Needing an accessory to keep a.i from dying and only one of them isnt great.
