Final Fantasy XIV coming to Xbox One, says Phil Spencer

Even after Mattrick disaster than almost made the Xbox extinct, it certainlly took less time to Phil Spencer to turn things around for Xbox than Sony to deliver Wild or Dreams.

I agree it's late but the biggest takeaway from this it's that you're going to be able to play FFXIV on the PS5 AND Scarlett, which is a good thing, there will surely be a next gen patch for the game to improve performance and you're going to be able to easily go from one generation to the other.

I mean that's the story of the Switch too but on a larger scale. We're seeing last gen games on it now. This is just a little bonus, FFXV released on Xbox.

This is a ridiculously exceptional game that still has millions playing it... too late really doesn't matter. Sure, they're likely to have the smallest install base on the XB, but it is still good news for the game either way.

And it's likely the game will be ported to next gen platforms, including the new XB, so those who plan on getting it will be set if they get it on XB1 first.

I put 400+ hrs into this game I'm aware of how ridiculously exceptional this is, but this game was rumored to hit Xbox YEARS ago and were on the end of its life cycle.. sales numbers aside its disappointing Xbox fans are just now getting this title

If only MS had supported cross play all those years ago when Square wanted to bring it to X1, it would have been there around the same time it came to PS. Kind of ironic ain't it? Is kind of funny that Sony wasn't against cross play with Xbox with this game....or maybe they agreed because they knew MS would say no. Who knows. Who really cares?

Options are never bad. Under normal circumstances, I would not expect it to sell very well, but it is a multiplayer game which generally have a following on Xbox.

Given the recent announcement for Xbox, its your time to put up our shut up, Xbox fans: you got more Japanese games. For years, this crowd has complained about being generalized as largely disinterested in Japanese games— now is the time to prove your critics wrong.

I'm not holding my breath, but hey, I may be surprised.

Naw, MS pulling the bs they tried with sony for crossplay. SE wasn't having it. SE controls there game. FFXIV has fantastic servers I've never had issues with personally. I'd rather the devs run there own servers as they wanted everything connected and done seemlessly and have been successful so far.

@Teflon02 A ton of games stop working online because companies shutdown the servers, MS has 360 games still running today, moe then 10 years late.

Its good news but I doubt even less than 1% of the xbox playerbase are going to grind 500+ hours in a story heavy anime style mmo just to get to the same point as pc / ps4 players.

Not salty bro, just stating the truth. I love FFXIV and play it but it is a freaking grind for new comers and mandatory.
Now i know they are working on a patch to help with that, I hope it comes out for Xbox as it will help

I've put 100 hours and while I own all content but shadowbringer right now. I haven't even got remotely close to Heavensward content. Starting over was a giant mistake. But it's fun. Thing is everyone else is so far ahead you kinda wish you could just skip (which yuou can pay to do) but it's not worth it if you really like it. I've been saying though, since I've played FFXIV when it released on PS4, it's one of my fav games this gen and I don't normally like mmo's.

I'm kind of with dj on this.

I started FF11 kind of late in the game on the PC. Got a release that had all the content up to it's times. Started playing, and the game was barren of other players. Quite literally, played for about 15 hours, and saw one other person the whole time, and they looked to be just starting the game as well. Think after maybe 30 hours I gave up because there was no one else to play with, and I felt kind of directionless.

FF14 is set up a bit differently in terms of world layout, but, the amount of content to work through to get up to the current expansion is quite extensive. I also wouldn't say the game allows for quick grinding, unless somethings changed since I last played it. The content is good early on from what I remember. But, like most good MMO's it's actually better with a strong group to play with.

I have a PS3 and PS4 Pro. And totally enjoyed these games and will also play them on my XBO X.

Gamers should be happy that the rest of the gaming community can experience great games no matter how new or old they are. Both platforms have many timed exclusives and many games that come to each platform years after the other platform. If they are great games, then gamers should be happy that those games are going to be enjoyed by even more gamers in the gaming community.

Gamers should not be against other gamers. Gamers should be tearing down the walls and able to enjoy every good game on the platform(s) of their choice. Exclusivity whether timed or just pure was a construct created to encourage fanboyism and make other gaming platform communities feel left out so they are encouraged to migrate into specific platform to play certain games.
