Death Stranding coming to PC in summer 2020

I think this was not expected at all by many of this games most dogmatic defenders. I still have no plans to purchase it outside of maybe being able to critique it, but this announcement did make me laugh a bit.

Expected by the reasonable folks yes, but so many on this site and others were outraged at the suggestion or simply went around ridiculing people who felt it would have a PC release.

Not sure why they were so adamant it was a Sony exclusive as Kojima did say it would come out on PC at some point and, afaik, its original conception was prior to partnering with Sony for development but I could be mistaken.

Besides, Kojima just left a company that was apparently restricting his freedom so I doubt he'd have jumped into bed with Sony if it meant less gamers got their hands on his first, most independent project.

Stadia does not run on pc hardware. They run on data servers, which can vary in architecture, and they use their own high level api

Sony, or GG would have to specifically build a stadia version of the game unless google somehow makes it so pc releases can run on the service

That isn't true. Any system that can play a game natively is superior to a streaming service. The addition of input lag and compression is what makes streaming services inferior.

KP (at the moment) is an independent studio. Sony does owned Guerilla Games, which includes the Decima engine.

Sony and KP worked together to license out the Decima engine in order for KP to create DS.

Well, with this news that the PC version is only 1/2 a year away, I think I'll wait for that version as I just recently built me a gaming PC. Well it's more based on his previous game. When everybody was worshiping Witcher 3 in 2015, I was one of those few that was blown away by MGSV. Anyhow, however the contract went between Kojima and Sony, as a customer, Kojima just leaving bad impression as he got all the supports from Sony but apparently he is releasing his game on other platform. That's why I ain't buying this unless it gets above 90 on MC.

We all know this will probably be on the Epic Games Store right? The recently announced MP game that's coming to PC is also on EGS, as was the Quantic Dreams games which Sony held the IP for. Dangerous precedent for Sony here. The original deal is old news. The bigger question here is this now presents people legitimately asking what's stopping other Sony First Party Games from releasing on PC and further devaluing the PS4/PS5.
