Meeeh, i mean really? These three? Sorry, but as talented as these teams may be I don't think a Punisher IP should go to them.

Dennaton Games, definitely should get the Punisher IP. They already have the gritty action style down with a surreal storyline to follow. It could easily translate into a Punisher game.

Playdead, I can see them making a Punisher game set in the underbelly, seedy streets of New York. It would be interesting to also see their take on the anti hero.

Remedy Entertainment, they seriously need that one game to put them over the top. I feel they excel in a few things but always fall short in another. I think with an actual established IP like Punisher they could create something great because they now have the reference material to pull from.

Rockstar Games, obviously since they worked on Max Payne 3, I think they could definitely create an open world New York City and put Punisher in the middle wrecking shop

You have a problem with DE, Insomniac, and ND but are suggesting a two man team (Dennaton) and the maker Limbo to take on a big Marvel IP?
Insomniac has already successfully translated a Marvel IP to gaming, DE is hot and very experienced with AAA shootem ups, and ND is literally the best in the biz with a history of third person shooters and movie like action. I agree that Remedy could do a good job due to their experience with Max Payne though.

I'd say Machine Games or maybe id. The Machine Games Wolfenstein titles are probably some of the closest to a Punisher game. I also believe Machine Games could do a great job rebooting Duke. id obviously because of DOOM, Rage, ect. Fast paced visceral action.

New-Breed2079d ago

Good call-out on Machine Games and id. They could definitely bring the impactful gunplay. But I'd want to see it slowed down a bit. I can't imagine Punisher running around at the speed of Doomguy. BJ is closer to the pace I envision.

"You have a problem with DE, Insomniac, and ND but are suggesting a two man team (Dennaton) and the maker Limbo to take on a big Marvel IP?"

Yes I am, those two have a dark gritty style and could bring something new or an artistic twist to the Punisher.

"Insomniac has already successfully translated a Marvel IP to gaming, DE is hot and very experienced with AAA shootem ups, and ND is literally..."

All boring, safe bets that is just common for anyone to just say without putting in much thought beyond "kewl Gamez".

In my opinion let's give a one demnsional character like the Punisher something more by giving it to a developer that has experience in the surreal.

Mopedgames2079d ago (Edited 2079d ago )

I'd like to see Insomniac give it a go given that Spider-Man was the best selling super hero game of all time.

cloganart2079d ago

This Open World obsession with gamers need to fucking end I tell you.

gangsta_red2079d ago

Agreed, which is why I just put one developer that has it and is one of the best at it.

But indefinitely don't want to see the same ol same ol when it comes to an already dull IP.

IamTylerDurden12078d ago

Too bad virtually nobody agrees Gangster.

Turn a big Marvel IP into a top down or 2D indie style game?

The reason people agree with ND and insomniac is because they are great AAA studios and Insomniac just made the most successful superhero game ever.

You neglect to mention my first choice of Machine Games.

I'd say
Machine Games
Remedy
id

Tbh though, I believe Insomniac could do a great job, Sony Bend, even Avalanche or Digital Extremes. Obviously Naughty Dog could do it. Maybe a VR game by Sony London?

TheKingKratos2079d ago (Edited 2079d ago )

ND for a dark story and could make gamers understand Frank pain and for the gore SSM would one hell of a game

Also good call on Insamniac and Digital Extremes and ID

ShinjukuSon2079d ago

Naughty Dog can do anything. Imagine seeing a Final Fantasy game by Naughty Dog oh my.

The Punisher on PS2 was such a great, underrated game. I would love to see Volition return to make a new one. Maybe even Naughty Dog, now that they have an Uncharted void to fill.

P_Bomb2079d ago (Edited 2079d ago )

Loved it! Still have it. Man it caught flack back in the day right before release. Got censored heavy right before shipping. They had to go black and white on the finishers, tweak camera pans and modify some of the environmental finishers like the piranha tank.

But on the bright side we had Thomas Jane VA (even if it didn’t match the character model who looked more like Ray Stevenson’s Punisher lol), a movie inspired Russian fight, the John Saint Jigsaw we never got in the Jane continuity, Bullseye boss fight and Matt Murdock/Wilson Fisk cameos, Ghost Rider and Hulk Easter eggs, pre MCU teamups from Nick Fury, Black Widow and IronMan (at Stark Tower no less), and the comic cover collectibles I’ve always dug. Fun cheats. Good licensed linear tps back before my open world fatigue.

SaveFerris2079d ago

I can't see Naughty Dog working on a licensed property. The studio seems more suited to their own IPs. Remedy would likely think the same way, but after seeing what Insomniac Games did with Spider-Man, they might take such a risk. And although Insomniac hit a home run with Spider-Man, I doubt that they would want to be only working on games based on Marvel characters. As mentioned earlier by @IamTylerDurden1, Machine Games would be a good choice.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.

Truly amazing!

Draws inspiration clearly draws gameplay inspiration from Assassins Creed and action cinematics from Uncharted!

Powered by UE5!

Definitely on my radar!

Storm238h ago

Unreal Engine 5 usually isn't something to be excited about...

raWfodog20h ago

Eastern devs are putting in that work this gen. The quality of their games have been top-notch across the board. Looking forward to seeing more of this game in action.

Other devs need to take notes and step their game up, figuratively and literally.

Lightning771d 6h ago

Looks very good why wasn't this at SGF?

Obscure_Observer1d 3h ago

Probably because this trailer wasn´t ready yet.

I doubt the developers would miss the opportunity to reveal their games to millions of gamers on four major events like Summer Game Fest, Future Games Show, State of Play or Xbox Showcase on purpose.

Scissorman12h ago

not everything needs to be at SGF. and judging by the reaction and the amount of views the trailer has already garnered, it didn't really need to be there.

Lightning776h ago

If Geoff wants rules on his showcases he needs to get these types of games SGF is largely seen as a borefest each year. Maybe he needs to go out and get these types s of games. Plus Net ease doesn't need SGF but SGF needs this game.

Napoca8622h ago(Edited 22h ago)

This feels like 90% stolen from Uncharted and the guy is also falling or almost falling to often down. Nah this is to much show, something is strange here.

Sonyslave321h ago

It does look like it could be staged or the combat might be like hellblade, but i have hope the devs made naraka battle royal game.

Lightning7717h ago

Ryse had staged area like combat. So did Hell Blade. Linear story based games do this. It's very cinematic like gameplay. The game did remind me of Ryse, how Ryse would of looked if they had a sequel of sorts.

pwnmaster300019h ago

This reminds me a bit of uncharted, ghost, Gow and AC.

Count me in.
