Xbox Game Pass Ultimate now comes with six months of Spotify Premium

Microsoft has started a special promo for new subscribers to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, its all-in-one service that combines Xbox Live Gold and Game Pass for both console and PC. If you sign up, you’ll get six months of Spotify Premium ad-free music streaming as a complimentary bonus along with the subscription.

If you’re part of the subset of people who are still eligible to take advantage of this promotion, Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a fantastic value that’s made even better with free Spotify. It normally costs $14.99 per month, but you can pay $1 for a month or $2 for two months. Microsoft says that you’ll receive a code to redeem your Spotify Premium trial no more than 10 days after you begin your subscription.

And as far as I know... when you have spotify premium you also get a hulu subscription. Or maybe that was a limited time... I know my son has it with his spotify and he linked his account to the xbox.

Teflon022035d ago

Has to be limited time as I never heard of that. Though I'm in Canada but I just stopped using Spotify a few months ago.

BenniB792035d ago

I have it with my mine & you get Hulu with the commercials, but Hulu did come with my Spotify Premium. That deal may no longer be the case.

Damn...I wish I would have waited. Spotify has this vicious AI that knows when to play a commercial in between a song that transitions smoothly to the next track.

Teflon022035d ago

If it's premium you wouldn't get ads...

BenniB792035d ago

Yep you don’t get ads with Premium

gangsta_red2035d ago

Yeah, trust me I know.....

RedDevils2035d ago

Precisely why would pay for it if it had ads lol

RpgSama2035d ago

You have to Hand it to Microsoft, they REALLY, REALLY want people to get gamepass, like REALLY, REALLY, they're putting all their eggs into the gamepass basket

King_Noctis2035d ago

You’d be stupid and a fool to not want people to buy your product.

Only an idiot would put up a product on sale and say “hey, please don’t buy our product!”

aconnellan2035d ago

Would you prefer they make a service/product and not support it? I don’t understand the issue

porkChop2035d ago

That's a really good value. I don't have an Xbox so I don't need XGPU, but if I did that would be a no-brainer.

It seems that is bad that MS finds a way to give more.

gangsta_red2035d ago

Well you have to realize you're not supporting the artist when you listen to Spoitfy, just like you're not supporting the developer when you don't buy the game and just play it from Game Pass.

It's crazy how much MS and Spotify doesn't support any of their content they provide to their customers.

2035d ago
Petebloodyonion2035d ago

I'm sorry but the artist does get compensated, yes they are paid less than when they sell you a song but they get the benefit of being heard in the whole world instead of locally.
Now in regards to gaming, publishers do get paid a certain amount for allowing their game on a sub-service.
Plus they get money from MT, DLC and such.

shiva12035d ago

You sound as if gaming industry is slaved under microsoft and music industry is slaved under spotify. But then google gets a free pass.

By the way you speak we should all be at the doorsteps on budding artists and developers to give our full support.

This is all very interesting. I was under the impression that when you subscribe to these services either the dev/artist doesn't get paid or you're not supporting them.

Truly I must have been wrong in my thinking. just goes to show how wrong some echo chambers are.

P_Bomb2034d ago (Edited 2034d ago )

When you pay Spotify your money goes into a pool. Not the artists you personally listen to the most. Then Spotify splits it up according to volume which ultimately benefits those already at the top. The rich get richer.

You can stream your local indie til you’re blue in the face, but your $9.99 is going to the Tay Tays of the world. And even she held out for the longest time over money. It’s a work in progress.

“Peter Frampton got paid $1,700 for 55 million streams of “Baby I Love Your Way.” Danny Michel blames streaming services for a 95 per cent drop in album sales in one year. Artists need approximately 438 streams on Spotify just to earn enough money to buy a box of Kraft Dinner – because the average Spotify royalty rate is $0.00331 per stream, according to the latest survey by The Trichordist.”

Unfortunately I think so. Not anytime soon. But in a few years time. They want that on everything.

Won't happen, software is where all the money is made. These companies take losses on these consoles and then make up for it with software sales.
