Switch version has a bit nicer colors (IMO), PC version has some nicer textures in some places.

Eonjay2083d ago

PC color look way better to me but keep in mind that the these videos have a tendency of incorrectly capturing color.

Neonridr2083d ago (Edited 2083d ago )

some colors seem lighter on the PC version. I wouldn't necessarily say better, but to each their own. I agree though, I guess it comes down to the capture method which could explain the difference in coloring.

Christopher2083d ago

Disagree. PC has better shading control so you see a larger difference between light and dark as opposed to a more neutral ground. Textures are also better.

I think this would be more noticeable if you were comparing the PC 1080p video to the 720p on Switch as well.

Regardless, it looks more than good enough to be enjoyed on any device. We don't need Switch games to catch up with PC on low settings or some silly metric, just look good and play well.

@TheDragonSlayer
That isn't your choice to make. If Switch owners are satisified with it, then who are you to say it isn't good enough?

Christopher2083d ago (Edited 2083d ago )

@TheDragonSlayer

Honestly, it's fine for me for console for the style. I'm not going to be hunting for texture quality and the like. Maybe if it was a more realistic game. But, even then, if the gameplay is good, and it doesn't look bad, is still okay it on consoles. I've played and enjoyed worse looking games on both Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

Not to say good looking games aren't great to experience, but it's not everything. It's the icing on the cake.

Downloading the demo now. Didn't expect it until next month.

RGB2083d ago

Yikes, not even the lowest settings on PC at 720p can match the low quality on Switch.

I’d take a slight downgrade any day for 60fps.

Why even downgrade this game? It's not that it's a graphic heavy game from the start ?_?

JaXion51641d ago

The PS4 version of DQXI S is actually the Switch version ported to PS4 hence why the textures aren't as good compared to the original DQXI.

Rachel_Alucard1641d ago

Cheap port and lack of proper budget to move the assets onto the previous version since S is made from the ground up using pre-baked shadows and being designed around Switch hardware.

Teflon021641d ago

SE is cheap af. The downgrade is actually pretty big when actually playing, the of actually felt like a high budget good graphics game with all the smoothness and actual high level effects. S looks great from switch yes. But I couldn't believe how obvious the downgrade was. I can even provide video of the big differences that hurt it. Low quality trees, the grass doesn't even look like grass and mostly static and longer while not being dense. MC legs alone bothers the hell outta me tbh. If no one provides a good video comparison in the next 24ish hours I'll make one and post. I'm so disappointed.

Jin_Sakai1641d ago (Edited 1641d ago )

“Why even downgrade this game? It's not that it's a graphic heavy game from the start ?_?”

I agree but they doubled the framerate which is definitely an upgrade.

Yi-Long1641d ago (Edited 1641d ago )

I couldn't care less about framerate in a game like this, if it means all the graphics get a downgrade.

I rather have a stunningly gorgeous adventure game in 30fps instead of a bland meh looking game in 60fps.

I love the art-design/style in Dragon Quest, so it will still look nice, but it's beyond disappointing how they didn't future-proof their Switch-build in order to be able to port it to other systems with the necessary upgrades. Especially when we're talking about stuff like textures, it seems that's something that could (should) be easily replaced with improved resolution files.

Jin_Sakai1641d ago

“I rather have a stunningly gorgeous adventure game in 30fps instead of a bland meh looking game in 60fps.”

Well that’s your opinion and I respect that but I’d rather have a 60fps experience.

KingofBandits1641d ago

Its actually a fairly significant downgrade. The harder polygon edges, baked lighting and harder edges with minor but noticeable weaker AA is enough for me to say I'll stick with the original.

Yi-Long1641d ago (Edited 1641d ago )

Sadly, the original lacked Japanese voice-acting and had terrible music, so that was never an option for me.

As it stands, there simply isn't any release that does this game justice. Every release has its own shortcomings, which is a real shame, because by all accounts, this game is among the best JRPGs this generation, so it deserves better.

Is this an action RPG or turn based?

Great way to start the show!

Spenok1746d ago

I'm so confused. I watched the show, and started with an 8 min before it started. And I didn't see this announcement. What I saw started with Halo...

Could you help me understand?

Imortus_san1746d ago

This was on the Pre sShow that was a 1h event.

Spenok1746d ago

@imortus

Thanks! I figured that might be the case, but the comment above confused me. Lol

Marquinho1746d ago

Coming to Game Pass! Great addition!

Vits1746d ago

That is some great news. This game looks gorgeous, but I could never really get into a Dragon Quest title.
But as it's going to be on Game Pass I might as well as try it.

TGGJustin1746d ago

Also coming to PS4 and Steam which is good to see.

luckytrouble1746d ago

Definitely this. Seemed really weird to me that they weren't releasing any kind of update whatsoever for PS4 and Steam at least some months after the Switch edition launched.

Bruh1746d ago

Yeah but not on PS Now, hence why Game Pass still the best

AnnaDea1746d ago

Remaster of a remaster of the og game xD

Good that Xbox gets the game even if I thought it was bland.

gold_drake1746d ago

yeh it takes a long while before it gets rly intresting thats true xD
