sweet, I wanted the Omega Collection purely to be able to play it in VR. Now I finally get that chance. Thanks Sony :)

IamTylerDurden11730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

Pretty awesome that Sony just gave the VR version for free. I never understood why they did this, especially considering it's literally one of the best VR games around. Could've easily charged as an add-on or stand-alone. Shame it didn't really impact sales, but great for those with VR.

solideagle1730d ago

because they are not EA or Activision

Neonridr1730d ago

Definitely not going to complain here ;)

bouzebbal1730d ago

Wipeout is my favorite series of all time.. But I have to be honest it's not a success in vr. I tried one race and switched to normal.
But worth a try 4 sure..

LucasRuinedChildhood1730d ago

A ton of people are going to get introduced to Wipeout because of this. Just over 600,000 players have played the Omega Collection.

sprinterboy1730d ago

I wonder if Sony have put Wipeout on ps plus so more gamers can try it, readying for a ps5 Wipeout game.

Segata1730d ago

I'm one of them. I imported the UK version just to have that steelbook.

Oh, it's awesome. And not nearly as vertigo inducing as you would think.

I've been waiting to buy the collection, then decided not to because of a huge backlog, but now might just buy it anyway. Surely it will be on sale too for those wanting to purchase it (although $20 isn't a bad price either)

DigitallyAfflicted1730d ago

Same here. It’s not often that Sony listen but sometimes it happens...

Really good lineup there. WipEout is fantastic in PlayStation VR so give it a try if you have one.

Orionsangel1730d ago (Edited 1730d ago )

I wanted the Omega collection! Awesome! Who remembers playing the original Wipeout when the PSone launched? What a game changer at the time! https://youtu.be/XASEBvDri4... I wish the PSone games were included in this collection.

Flewid6381730d ago

It was OK but WipeOut XL is when I officially cared about the series.

Orionsangel1730d ago

No, I get that, but at the time going from SNES to PSone and playing that first Wipeout game was groundbreaking. It was like turning a chapter.

Segata1730d ago

I didn't play on PS1 back then but I did on Saturn and N64.

Muzikguy1730d ago

I've been on the fence to buy the collection myself because of a backlog in games. I have been wanting it though. They are fun, I just don't play the type of game they are very often

Orionsangel1729d ago

Arcade games are not very big these days. Back then these sort of racing games were more basic. It boiled down to racing on tracks to unlock more tracks. Games like NFS and SSX had themed tracks. Arizona track. Texas Track. Metroplex track etc. Today racing games are all open world and boring imo.

Petebloodyonion1729d ago

The original Wipeout was the main reason for my PSone purchase back in the days.
I had a Sega Saturn (still have it) and didn't really care for Sony's console until I came on a demo included in the original Sony's choice cut.
At the time, I was a big fan of Red Planet at virtual world https://www.youtube.com/wat...
So when I saw the game, I bought a Ps1 and stopped playing VirtualWordl
And yes, I played the game via Link Cable :)

Flewid6381729d ago

You are absolutely right about that. It was truly groundbreaking.

5 Best PSVR Games That Need PSVR 2 Ports

Alongside big hitters like Horizon Call of the Mountain, Gran Turismo 7 and Resident Evil Village, PSVR 2 is already home to some of the best PSVR games and experiences, like Moss and Tetris Effect. Better yet, some ports like Job Simulator, Song in The Smoke and Pistol Whip offer free cross-generation upgrades if you bought them for the original PSVR.

There are many PSVR titles we’d love to see leap onto PlayStation VR2. Here's our pick.

True indeed. Great picks. I'd also like Raw Data remastered, LA Noire, Iron Man, Arch Angel, Mortal Blitz and many others. We'll see what gets ported over time.

SullysCigar422d ago

There are so many that would benefit from a PSVR2 facelift with all the bells and whistles.

To add to your list, I'd also like: Hitman 1-3, Xing: The Land Beyond, The Room: VR, Red Matter, Farpoint, Until Dawn: Rush of Blood, The Persistence, To the Top, Until You Fall, Arashi: Castles of Sin, Sniper Elite VR, Fracked, Dreams - I'm sure there are loads I've forgotten!

IAMTHEVOID422d ago

To add a sixth game to that list I need on ps vr2 is Vader Immortal

Abnor_Mal422d ago

Did anyone ever play Robinson: The Journey?

Oh and to add to the list I’d definitely put Bravo Team up for porting to PS5. I don’t understand why that game got so much flak when the only problem was the camera zooming out from first to third person when you had to move locations.

Other ports I would like to see wake its way over at some point would be DWVR, Immortsl Legacy, The Mages Tale, Killing Floor Incursion. Never played although I know I own them Unearthing Mars1/2 and Budget Cuts. Doom and Skyrim VR I’m not holding my breath on but would be nice.

EverydayJoe420d ago

I did. Was a beautiful game for its time.

MIDGETonSTILTS17422d ago (Edited 422d ago )

I would just add SUPERHOT.

Great list otherwise.

I’d easily pay $10 for an upgrade for any of these games, or full price for a vr2 version if I don’t own it yet.

Idc if the games are brand new, just as long as they work for my new headset.

Please update and take my money, devs 💰

Six racing games we'd love to play on PSVR2

Since we recently tried out Gran Turismo 7 on the PSVR2, it had us at Traxion.GG wondering what other racing titles might be just as intoxicating on this epic piece of hardware.

Here's a video discussing the games we'd like to see and our thoughts on the chances of a PSVR2 version for each of them.

Profchaos436d ago

I know it's never going to happen but a midnight club LA remaster with psvr2 support would be very high on my list along with NFS underground 1/2.

I wish I could play wipeout in VR but that was the only game I really struggled with motion sickness on.

ApocalypseShadow436d ago

I'd like Motor Storm, Tourist Trophy, Pod Racer, NFS Hot Pursuit 2, F355 Challenge and Mod Nation Racers. Just to start. Could use a lot more over the years.

Abnor_Mal436d ago

While I have no problem with circuit racers,, I would prefer more open world driving/racing games in vr.

Living cities with real traffic with drivers obeying road rules for the most part. Stopping for red lights, yielding for merging traffic and traffic jams.

I use to love just driving around in Midnight Club LA listening to the radio and using my Logitech wheel. I still do the same in the Crew1/2 but it’s not the same.

I’d also like to drive through GTA5s Los Santos in first person in vr but that’s not going to happen with a wheel on PS5.
