Final Fantasy VII Remake Producer Says Future Entries Will Be Released on a Quicker Basis

Gamers don't know how many games the Final Fantasy VII Remake will be split across, but the title's producer has said that those future entries will have a quicker development time than the experience that kicks things off in March 2020.

Good news I trust Kitase, every game he's directed has got 90-95 on metacritic. Chrono Trigger, FF6, FF7, FF8 and FF10.

3rdstar1830d ago

Except he's not the director this time. Merely the producer

I wish he would go back to directing.

naruga1830d ago (Edited 1830d ago )

as long as they r perfectly polished and complete ok .....if they just make the 1st one well made and the rest quick cheapy DLC like then i wont buy

Eamon1830d ago

It's Nomura and Kitase. I'm pretty sure despite their titles, they're working very closely together. After all, Kitase directed FF7 and Nomura was a part of the core team.

I_am_Batman1830d ago (Edited 1830d ago )

While that's true, in practice those positions aren't always as cut-and-dry as they sound on paper. Nomura and Kitase have known each other for decades and clearly respect each other. Kitase was the game director on the original, so I'm sure he is consulted in a lot of key decisions during game development.

Considering that Kitase hasn't directed a game in a long time and that the remake takes a more action oriented style it probably makes more sense to have Nomura direct it and have Kitase in a supervisor and consultant role.

Adding the world map for the next-generation of consoles is a smart move. Imagine how seamless everything will be with that hardware.

And the game engine is complete a long time ago. So I think this will go smoothly.

obviously... if the base is set, you can expand from there.

Man I am not buying a Quarter of a game for 60 dollars I am one of the biggest ff7 fans there is it’s just seems like this is a big cash grab for Square. Notice that they never Mention how much the order episodes will costs we may be paying 180 for this remake when its all done

NovusTerminus1830d ago

The first release runs 2 blurays... That is not a cash grab, this is just the only feasible way to remake a game of this scale with devs costs as high as they are now.

Would I prefer a single release? Sure.
Would SE be able to fund it like that for a $60 game? No.

lucian2291830d ago

how ignorant are you? lol you realize this game is fully 3d? that means no more painted and static backgrounds to walk into in midgar; it means they had to fully realize every nook, every npc. This isn't a simple HD port Snake, the producers said midgar alone will be the size of a whole final fantasy game. The fact that the game will take up 2 discs for just midgar (Something never done on any ps4 or xbox game ever) should be telling. Not to mention that but the fact that everything is voiced now and there are new story elements. This will be far superior to the original if it goes as it is going.

this entry will be 60+ hours of gameplay while the original ff7 can be completed in the whole story in the same time. So think about that; we are getting a much expanded universe. Stop being so self entitled lol. Though if you want to wait for the trilogy collection then go for it.

Snakeking331823d ago

Yeah 60 hours of gameplay that was not important in the original or have any relevance to the main game you are just getting a padded 1st disk of the original game that did not happen and of crap you don’t really care about I can tell from the trailer the going to have back stories of barret buddies that dies in the first disk let’s be real do you really care

Honestly a bloodborned PS5 Remaster and PC Port would have gone really well especially for this dry spell we seem to be in.

got_dam21h ago

I think he is saying only bloodborne can make him wet.

Skuletor15h ago

They're probably referring to first party games.

VincentVanBro20h ago

Bud were you here for 2023? We’re drowning mate, no dry spell in sight.

-Foxtrot21h ago(Edited 21h ago)

It’ll happen at the PS6 launch in my opinion

We might get a PS6 Remake for launch like they did with Demons Souls for the PS5. The PC port may follow who knows.

Inverno21h ago

I just wanna be walking around with my Deck playing Bloodborne like a absolute nerd on full blast so people can hear the shrieks.

VersusDMC20h ago

"But there are millions of PC gamers out there still holding onto hope"

Game gets announced...and the complaints pile in to justify piracy. It's old so it should be 20 dollars, psn requirement means no buy but i will pirate, it's just a port they didn't even remake it and it doesn't have every graphics option ever so I'm getting the torrent.

Skuletor15h ago

Even so, that shouldn't have prevented Sony from releasing a FPS/resolution patch or upgraded PS5 release by now.

VersusDMC14h ago

Maybe the From Software engine is such a mess that it is not worth the cost or time for Sony. Bloodbourne is one of the lowest selling souls games.

And even with Elden Ring selling 20+ million they still haven't patched the PS5 version to play at 60fps. Only way to play elden ring on PS5 at 60fps is to play the PS4 version on PS5.

But maybe Bluepoint is working on a remake as that would be the only thing they could charge full price for and be worth the time and money.

Chard10h ago

Most FromSoftware fans would rather a port with the original art intact over a remake that messes with the assets and atmosphere

Elda19h ago(Edited 19h ago)

But instead Sony gives PS5/PC owners an option to buy a PS5/PC Until Dawn remaster/rework this year, something I highly doubt PS fans asked for. A Bloodborne PS5/PC remaster is highly anticipated among fans.
