Michael Kitchin, "I still can't find myself comfortable within the genre but at least Fade to Silence offers people like me a foothold. Despite a more casual experience and some welcome co-op, combat feels sluggish and shallow. The world is wonderfully bleak but the storytelling fails to capitalise on the setting. There's some intriguing systems at work here but they don't combine in a way I can enjoy."
Amazon has discounted the physical version of Fade to Silence to $19.99 on PS4 and Xbox One.
Anyone play this? I'm interested, i know reviews were terrible, but the difficulty and setting intrigue me.
"Fade To Silence is not a game for new gamers. It’s a punishing game that does not forgive you for poor judgment. It will not hold your hand, so make sure you have your big boy/girl pants on.
Fade To Silence is based in a post-apocalyptic frozen wasteland. You play a character called Ash. You have to gather resources just to stay alive. Fade To Silence sets you up with limited lives and permadeath. To those of you who don’t know what that means, it’s simple. When you run out of lives it’s game over, no continues just death and you have to start your adventure over again from the beginning." Roy @ Thumb Culture
Joseph Pugh writes- Fade To Silence is a hardcore survival game that acknowledges one of the worlds many truths, winter is evil. Look, if your one of those people who can’t wait for summer to be over, I don’t begrudge you that. But I would personally rather die in a pool of my own sweat than ever see another snowflake again. I don’t want to say you’re wrong, but Fade To Silence backs me up by having a Lovecraft inspired eldritch horror end the whole world with eternal winter while constantly wielding it as a weapon. Just saying.
Shame that these devs don't get proper funding. The trailer for this hits on so many intriguing creative notes, even the song is amazing (remix of "Where is My Mind" Pixies). If the creative people behind this had a legitimate AAA budget and the proper manpower it would be incredible. Many of the teams working under pubs like THQ and Focus Home are enormously talented. Spiders, Cyanide, Black Forest, even Piranha Bytes.
Look at the creative template for these games. Technomancer, Fade to Silence, Elex, Greedfall, Call of Cthulhu. These games have fantastic ideas and interesting worlds. Every single game sounds amazing on paper, they just don't have the budget to execute.
