This mod completely removes Mr. X from Resident Evil 2 Remake

DSOGaming writes: "Resident Evil 2 Remake is one of the best remakes we’ve seen to date. However, and perhaps its only controversial feature, is the inclusion of Mr. X. While some players believed that its inclusion stayed true to the original game, some players felt those encounters to be boring, repetitive and tedious. If you were among them, you’ll find the following mod quite interesting."

Are people really that scared of Mr. X? He isn't even that bad in this game and he doesn't cause much damage. He come right when you get to comfortable. I love the Mr.x section, but people are being babies because they're scared of him, so they remove him to have an easier game.

Hungryalpaca2236d ago

It’s more annoying than scary tbh.

TheEnigma3132236d ago (Edited 2236d ago )

People use the word annoying because they can't deal with the tension and anxiety he causes. He's so easily avoidable it's not even funny. People have been b****hing about Mr. X since the game came out and it's getting annoying. If Mr. X was just an annoyance, people wouldn't complain as much. They mask their fear of him by saying "he's annoying not scary"

bouzebbal2236d ago

He's very lame and has no place in the game imo...

Hungryalpaca2236d ago

Yes...I’m afraid of a giant trenchcoated dude who forgot to use moisturizer on his face. Ooooh ahhhhh SCARY.

No dude. He’s just annoying. I’m trying to get some bullets and thud. Thud.

Instead of feeling dread - because you can run circles around him - I just say to myself. Begone!

He’s not scary. He doesn’t add tension. All he does is slow down what your current goal is by forcing you to run and wait somewhere.

Had he been intelligently designed like the alien in ISOLATION maybe he could have been scary. But it’s not scary. Just annoying.

Kosic2236d ago (Edited 2236d ago )

It was the main reason that ruined a perfect game. He became annoying after a while.

Didn't find it fun to exit a safe room go down a hall way to see him pop out the door I needed. To then run back the way I came and wait for him to go away.... Yeah, real fun.

AspiringProGenji2236d ago

He is annoying but In a very good way

For one I love Mr. X and what he brings to the game. In the original he was scripted which you could say it became annoying after a 2nd play through. But here? He is awesome and non scripted for the most part. There are several ways to avoid him. Just don't rush and go full COD while is he is around and you'll be fine. He is supposed to bring some tension to your progression. This is a game that you should take it slow not rush it.

AspiringProGenji2236d ago

''Didn't find it fun to exit a safe room go down a hall way to see him pop out the door I needed. To then run back the way I came and wait for him to go away.... Yeah, real fun.''

How about you stop doing that and try something else then? Just flash him and run as far as you can

Master of Unlocking2235d ago

What's really annoying is that Capcom kinda failed to make good on their promise to remake the RE2 that came out some 20 years ago, in that they didn't keep the 4 distinct scenarios, and sort of merged them together into 1. Or maybe 2 if you want, but Mr X should've appeared only in scenarios B, NOT in scenarios A. There are other elements that've been removed from the original game, which cause its remake to lack the variety of situations found in the PS1 game, and make it all too samey. Bad move, Capcom, in an otherwise good game.

Heaven forbid people find a way to have more fun for themselves.

TheEnigma3132236d ago

yup heaven forbid people being to scary to play the game the way it was intended. Make it easier because they're scared.

DarXyde2236d ago

I like Mr. X. When he was introduced in the original RE2, there was legit fear and made the game something special beyond its predecessor. That's why the addition of One Dangerous Zombie mode or Lisa Trevor in the original remake of the first game felt so special. Adds a layer of strategy and makes you uncomfortable.

I appreciate the stalkers in the original trilogy.

One-Shot2236d ago

@TheEnigma313 Guess what, it doesn't affect you nor make you better than anyone else.

TheEnigma3132235d ago

It does make me better than everyone else because I'm not a wuss like you all; frauds.

No, he's not scary, and no, annoying isn't baby code for "I can't deal with him." He was added to the game as a delaying tactic to artificially lengthen a short game. That's all. And he definitely does just that.
Right when you're close to the objective, you have to Benny Hill his ass around several already-emptied rooms. It's not tense because it's not hard. It's not scary. It doesn't add to the plot. It does nothing but waste your time. Hell, it doesn't even dwindle your resources. I think the only time I shot him in my 4 playthroughs was to get the Hats Off trophy.
He sucks. Hard.

meganick2236d ago

“He was added to the game as a delaying tactic to artificially lengthen a short game.”

Actually he was added as an incentive to kill the zombies and other creatures in the police station so that when Mr X finally appears and you have to run away, you don’t get hurt or killed by enemies you left alive that you now have to avoid as you’re running away. So on one hand you want to conserve ammo so you have enough to complete the game, but on the other hand you’ll also want to kill enough creatures so that when Mr X appears you don’t run into said creatures as you’re running away from Mr X. It’s good game design I think.

DanteVFenris6662236d ago

Wait...

But he speeds up the game. He literally forces you to speed run.

Unless your so scared your waiting in safe rooms which you don’t need to do at all...

Eidolon2236d ago

On Hardcore first playthrough he is pretty bad, what are you talking about?

giovonni2236d ago

I don’t recall mr x being in part 2, or has it been that long since I be played it?

babadivad2236d ago

He was the Tyrant. Which was a much more boss name. And he was legit scary in those games. Mainly because he could burst through walls at unexpected times, cutting off the room, and force you to deal with him.

meganick2236d ago

He only appeared in the second playthrough (or Scenario B) in the original RE2.

LG_Fox_Brazil2236d ago

And here I was expecting a mod that turns every enemy into a Mr. X

Gatsu2236d ago

There is already a mod like that ;)....

TheEnigma3132236d ago

there's one already; it's funny as hell too. You can youtube it.

BlaqMagiq12236d ago

He's not even that hard to deal with. He's easy to outmaneuver and outsmart. Mr. X makes the game so much better because it keeps you tense and on your toes like a good survival horror game should. He's even better than he was in the original. If you can't handle him, then this game is definitely not for you.

TheEnigma3132236d ago

This is exactly it. People want to be able to walk around the police station and do everything at their own pace. Mr. X comes and adds extra excitement. If it weren't for him, it would just be a fetch quest until you left the station.

BlaqMagiq12236d ago

THANK YOU! Someone with common sense. The funny thing is there are parts in the game where he is "dead" and they can go back to the station and finish whatever they didn't do before.

One-Shot2236d ago

So play how you want to then and let other play how they want to. Crazy enough, some people have fun in different ways. Your way isn't superior to everyone, and that doesn't make them wrong.

Hungryalpaca2236d ago (Edited 2236d ago )

Nah. He just got annoying after a while. It wasn’t tense because all you have to do is run to a safe room and he’ll leave. There’s no tension because he barely hurts you and you can run circles around him. That’s not scary. He’s not a threat.

It’s basically a dumbed down version of the Alien in Isolation. Without the actual tensions and risk of death around every corner if you make the feintest mistake.

When Mr x sees you, you can literally just walk around him.

If the alien sees you, unless you got a flame or lockable door....you’re fucked.

BlaqMagiq12236d ago (Edited 2236d ago )

But the Alien himself is more of a main focus in Isolation. He's is literally the main threat of the game. He should be more difficult to avoid and combat as the game is more focused on it. Mr. X is more of a secondary focus. And he can be avoided with no problems if you know what you're doing. He was never supposed to be some superpower boss, just something to keep you moving.

Most people that don't know what they're doing will struggle with Mr. X while smart people have ways to avoid him no problem. Without him people would just complain it's a boring fetch quest.

strayanalog2236d ago

I'll have to try this at some point. Too bad fun little tweaks like this and cheats aren't provided by Capcom when you beat the console game.

thepatientgamer2236d ago

The only hard part with Mr. X IMO is the library puzzle. The rest of it is easy. Running around him isn’t bad, and additional scares and tension even after I’ve beaten the game multiple times adds to how great the scares are (mr. X always manages to surprise me).
