Little do the kids know..this is based of the X Labs in Stalker.

This game honestly felt so much like a Stalker game for many parts of it, i think the more open/sandbox levels really added to that feeling, and in my opinion a Stalker comparison/influence is a great thing.

really enjoyed the little things you notice in a game like this, the atmosphere, the sounds, how the world interacts with itself and the player.

Many of the Metro devs are former stalker devs

Ahhhh man the STALKER games...
For me personally one of the best videogame series out there. I still have nightmares from the Agroprom underground level. The games have had few issues but to this day there are very, very few horror games that match the level of atmosphere of STALKER series and since lot of former GSC Game World staff transfered to 4A Games since GSC disbanded back in 2011 it's only natural to see similarities with these two games.

As much as I enjoyed the game the spider bunker levels were one of the few well designed sections of the game, since the open world sections felt very lazy with a lot of emptiness l, hopefully in the future they make more linear games.

nucky642262d ago

you think the volga, taiga and caspian levels were "empty"?

DrumBeat2262d ago

Right? There's nothing at all empty about those spaces. They're filled very well. There's always something somewhere.

Redrex70002261d ago

in the open world i was away getting stuck on stuff
anyone else had that ?

Love this game . Just makes you want to explore EVERY thing

The first time I played a Metro game was 2033 Redux on PS4, then Last Light also on PS4. I instantly fell in love with the series. I liked the story, the atmosphere, and Artyom's level-opening dialogues. The lone protagonist that didn't talk much. I love those kinds of characters.

This game is another gem in the series. It was everything I imagined and hoped for in a less claustrophobic out-of-the-tunnels Metro game. Even though I think the Metro tunnels and stations are what gave the first two games a lot of charm, I think 4A really did the 'open' thing quite well.

Starting on Ranger Hardcore tomorrow. I hear it's insane. Looking forward to it.

The closed linear missions were by far the best. The open world were nice to mix things up but for me they were too long and made the AI look really bad

Kinda reminds me of miasmata also with how the navigation works. Not to miasmata's extent but definitely in the same vein
