Andrzej Sapkowski versus CD Projekt Red saga may be coming to a favourable end for both parties soon as the former will get some compensation, although not as much as he asked for. Further cooperation was remotely hinted by the developer.

This is good, say what you will this dude work did make CDPR Billionaires. Yes, I know it was the excellent game they made that allowed them to succeed, but you can not deny the appeal that having the Witcher world helped them to be successful. So I am glad they are coming to a deal.

They tried to cut a % when they first made a deal with him. He thought games were stupid and wanted a 1 time cash payment. He did not expect the series to do so well on PC/consoles, and then tried to bitch about his own stupidity. They tried to do right by him, but he screwed himself over in the beginning.

"They offered me a percentage of their profits. I said, 'No, there will be no profit at all - give me all my money right now! The whole amount. It was stupid. I was stupid enough to leave everything in their hands because I didn't believe in their success. But who could foresee their success? I couldn't."

Lord_Sloth2327d ago

He's also a greedy ass-hat who demanded they give him a 1 time cash settlement because he didn't give a damn about video games and was sure they would fail in a year or 2 anyways. They wanted to give him a better deal but his own close minded nature and greed lead to him losing out on a lot of money in the end and he was very openly bitter about it.

THEY did the work, he provided the lore, and it's not like his book sales haven't exploded since the games came out.

They should send him a big f*ck off... now that the series is super popular he want's a cut tsc...

rdgneoz32327d ago

They offered him a percentage, he thought the games wouldn't succeed so he wanted cash instead. Idiot...

starchild2328d ago

Well, I think Sapkowski has been unreasonable during all of this, but I'm glad that they are reaching an agreement if it means we will get more Witcher games in the future.

Awesome to hear. A good resolution that benefit both parties only lead to good things for gamers. Can’t wait to see what will come of this.

Playdead co-founder slammed with lawsuit as bitter row with co-founder escalates

Playdead co-founder Dino Patti is allegedly being sued by his former studio and business partner.
Patti was threatened with a lawsuit earlier this year after he posted a now-deleted LinkedIn post that shared an "unauthorized" picture of co-founder Arnt Jensen and discussed some of Limbo's development. Patti said Jensen demanded a little over $73,000 in "suitable compensation and reimbursement," adding that he had "repeatedly" had such letters over the last nine years.

Truly amazing!

Draws inspiration clearly draws gameplay inspiration from Assassins Creed and action cinematics from Uncharted!

Powered by UE5!

Definitely on my radar!

Storm237h ago

Unreal Engine 5 usually isn't something to be excited about...

Eastern devs are putting in that work this gen. The quality of their games have been top-notch across the board. Looking forward to seeing more of this game in action.

Other devs need to take notes and step their game up, figuratively and literally.

Lightning771d 5h ago

Looks very good why wasn't this at SGF?

Obscure_Observer1d 2h ago

Probably because this trailer wasn´t ready yet.

I doubt the developers would miss the opportunity to reveal their games to millions of gamers on four major events like Summer Game Fest, Future Games Show, State of Play or Xbox Showcase on purpose.

Scissorman11h ago

not everything needs to be at SGF. and judging by the reaction and the amount of views the trailer has already garnered, it didn't really need to be there.

Lightning775h ago

If Geoff wants rules on his showcases he needs to get these types of games SGF is largely seen as a borefest each year. Maybe he needs to go out and get these types s of games. Plus Net ease doesn't need SGF but SGF needs this game.

This feels like 90% stolen from Uncharted and the guy is also falling or almost falling to often down. Nah this is to much show, something is strange here.

Sonyslave320h ago

It does look like it could be staged or the combat might be like hellblade, but i have hope the devs made naraka battle royal game.

Lightning7716h ago

Ryse had staged area like combat. So did Hell Blade. Linear story based games do this. It's very cinematic like gameplay. The game did remind me of Ryse, how Ryse would of looked if they had a sequel of sorts.

pwnmaster300018h ago

This reminds me a bit of uncharted, ghost, Gow and AC.

Count me in.
