When Lionhead's Peter Molyneux was promoting the original Fable, he often described the aim of the game as to make you feel like a hero. He didn't mean by this that you would feel like someone else's idea of a hero, but like your own idea. You would create the character and forge his destiny. You would decide whether to be good or evil, and your choices would change the world for better or worse. As you adventured the world would also leave its mark on you, aging you, scarring you, the goodness or darkness within you echoed in your face and body. We would all start Fable with the same small boy, but would end with several million very different heroes, each reflecting who we were and how we played.

Why would you even put GTA4 in your list. That game was a huge let down. Apparently this game is great. If I had a 360 I would jump all over it. Im not huge in western RPGs though since the stories are usually boring and weak.

While it's definitely a great experience, it's nowhere near a 10/10 in my opinion.

8.0 or 8.5 would do it justice.

I have the game and have done everything, found nearly every secret, and completed the main story. I would give Fable 2 between a 9 to 10. There is no way in hell this game should be reviewed under a 9.

I give Fable II a solid 8 and not a point higher. The glitches alone tell me the game is slightly flawed and warrants a notch off the scale.

I don't know, the glitches can be fixed and the game can be continued. I myself haven't ran into any glitches, and if I do I will let you guys know. Sony Loyalist are too upset... I know this for a fact

It's not about Sony loyalism, it's about a game that under delivers when it came to the bit of hype is got and the fact that parts of the game are broken. Also, the hand holding of the bread crumb trail makes me puke. Sorry, but they could have just given you an overhead map instead of slapping the gamers in the face with the trail. The game is by no means a flop, in fact it is OK at best but in no way should this game ever get a 10. Like I said, it is definitely worth a solid 8, and nothing more.

the game is just so broken it becomes unplayable without that garbage breadcrum trail telling you where to go every second. and if u turn that off, well, you're f*cked. talk about an immersion killer. isn't this one of the primary reasons PDZ was destroyed by all the reviewers? the blue arrows? well, at least you could turn those off and still have a perfect gameplay experience. only a n00b couldn't find where to go in that game. it made no sense to even have them.

fable is a different story. it's so wide open, which WOULD be great, but the map screen is 100% utterly useless. in the amazing fable 1, u could see the map in the corner at all times with the quest objective and ur arrow, or the area load point to where the objective would be related to your position, but no. the map doesn't do that anymore. and u can only access the map in the menu. meaning, to find anything, u have to stop what you're doing and study a map menu for 5 minutes. either that or use this brainf*ckingdead breadcrum trail which is the gayest thing in gaming history next to peter bisexual molyneux himself.

the game is so f*cking broken, I haven't even gotten to how ridiculously stupid the dog mechanic is yet, or even to all the bugs and glitches. gone are the days of finding treasure yourself. now, every time u walk ANYWHERE the god damn dog barks so loud in my surround headphones it scares the sh1t out of me. it's too f*cking loud compared to everything else, and you can't turn it down. it's annoying that u can't find your own treasure anymore without a moron dog barking and sniffing at it, and it's annoying that it's too f*cking loud.

and why do they have the dog disappear when u open a chest? but then not his fur? talk about glitchy. what morons. i understand having him disappear when the camera is about to pass through him, but then why only his body and not his hair? holy f*cking sh1t. talk about dumb. it's the ugliest glitch I've ever seen in a game, and it happens every time you open a chest or talk to someone. absolutely no f*cking way they didn't see this ONCE the entire dev cycle. utter FAIL on the entire team's part.

and why does the game feel the need to tell me to press A to SKIP a dialog "cutscene" every f*cking word spoken in this game? how f*cking dumb do they think we are as gamers that we don't already f*cking know this? they cater to the idiot who doesn't want to hear or know anything about the story instead of to the guy who wants to be immersed in Peter's rich storytelling ability. nooooo. another fail.

just like how the game feels the need to remind us every 10 f*cking seconds about how we're supposed to find or meet someone. like, no sh1t. and if I really get that confused, I'll hit f*cking pause and read the objective screen. why the f*ck is that screen even there if you're going to take-up the whole top of the screen with some annoying reminder every 10 seconds which u can't even turn off.

I swear to god this game pisses me the F*CK OFF on so many levels. GOD DAMMIT.

my opinion may change given more time, but I doubt it. unless I just learn to get used to this game's wealth of garbage n00b design choices.

I know they are completely different games, but farcry 2 f*cking destroys fable 2. I advise everyone to buy that game in stead.

The nitpicking really. The nitpicking and complaints that are made are so petty it almost becomes comical. I mean really, look at the complaints. Its like going on a date to the movies and it sucked because you didn't get enough butter on your popcorn, or they put to much Ice in your soda. I can see the glitches killing the game's experience, but the dog barking to loud, or a pointer that you can turn off, and then complaining about being lost after you turn it off? Then getting mad because you have to pull up a map ???? It is his opinion, but I think he was pointing out more of the nipicking

One of the biggest misconceptions that have been given about Fable 2 is it being compared to games that aren't even in the same category. While I do agree with Jack Fair about it being 8.6. I think we miss a lot about Fable 2 that makes it special. The game has so much character compared to the 10's we were introduced with this year, for example, why would you compare it to Metal Gear, Bio shock, and GTA4. I will tell you right now, that GTA4 has nothing on Fable 2. Trust me, I have found my self, toggling with the main Character's emotions

Like scaring towns people and playing fetch with the dog. The reason why this game gets a 10 from a lot of people is, there is so much to offer in this game, plus a well balance system of story telling, graphics, controls, and humor. What other game in its category this year gives you the same experience at this time?

And please, compare the right games with Fable 2, it just doesn't make any sense to me why Bio Shock, and GTA4 is even in the same compared sentence. Just because theses games get 10s doesn't make them comparable. I mean, would you compare me to an Astronaut just because I can see the moon from my house? I mean me and the Astronaut may share the same qualities but come on now.

Seems the sacred score is no longer safe this generation, thanks to GTA IV. Fable 2 is awesome, but there's no way with its inherent problems that it deserves a 10.

Its not like these problems can't be fixed. Like I said earlier, the game is filled with so much character that there isn't a game on the market this year that gives you this kind of experience. So, a lot of people will give it a 10 although the glitches may be present. People may reply with Socom's score was dropped dramatically because of the problems with that. However, a large element of Socom is enjoyed on line.

Then for that matter no game should get a 10 out of 10 then. I have yet to run into any game this year that has the same character as this one. If the Mag gave it a ten, I can see why, yes the glitches can be a problem but the realism of the game is excellent, the open world style is something that can't be ignored. I get the point of 9.5 and all that stuff, but compared to other games in the same category this year, which one gives you the Fable 2 experience?

Sorry, mate. That's complete bullshit. In that case every game gets a 10, because most everything can be fixed.
This score just again demonstrates how fcked up the review system is. When a game that everyone knows has game breaking glitches gets a 10/10, something is going on.
There is absolutely NO way that can be denied.

Give it a 9/10. Even a 9.5 if you feel high, but please don't try and bullsht us with a 10. You make yourself look stupid.

they review games ..based on ..gameplay ..graphics..story..sound..

those are the important factor ..yeah ..the games does have glitches ..haven't found any in my game yet ..but whatever .. I agree with the score..even thou ..glitches suk..but still ..the game deserves the score for what it is

Oh and yeah ..this game is better tha GTA..i won't compare it to Bioshock because they are completly different games..but its just as good ..

All games are comparable because they all compete for my money and time.
This whole "can't compare game scores" is utter rubbish.

When I look for gaming entertainment and see a score, it should tell me whether that game is worth me spending my money and time on, regardless of what type of game it is.

I think we can all agree that when it was released, Pong was an absolute 10/10. There was nothing like it at the time. What would it get today?

I have to say, I'm really loving this game now. I take back some of the things I said about it. I've discovered that the game is made for n00bs, dumb ppl, or drunks. If you're too smart like me, just play this game drunk and u will LOVE it!!! trust me! :)

Aside from some petty glitches you don't notice if you're drunk, the Drunk Trail and the fact that u can't die are like the greatest features in the world! lol...

But, I tried FarCry 2 drunk lastnight as well, and the game pissed me off to no end. I think that game is just too complex for that. I'm going to have to stick to Fable 2 drunk, and Farcy 2 sober. What I have to do to enjoy these games!
