Checkerboarding is just a fancy upscaling technique. It isn't the same thing as a native 4K image.

I don't care what it runs at, the game looks dam amazing.... I don't play resolution, I play video games... and if the game looks and runs amazing on my PS4 Pro at 1920 X 1080p on my PC monitor and looks amazing when upscaled on my 4k HDTV then that's all I care about...

*RockStar* do what you have to do to make it look and run amazing... And that looks like exactly what they have done here... Game looks insane, They have done a hell of a job, can't wait to play..

Uhh, this is just half resolution of 4K when you cut it in the middle. Then via checkerboard rendering or some other stretching method it's extrapolated to a 16:9 aspect ratio taking the full screen but rendering half the pixels of 4K. It makes it easier for clarity purposes since you only need to extend to one side instead of 2. When using for example a 2k resolution and have to extrapolate over the horizontal and vertical to a screen with a 4k monitor end it might seem sometimes blurry (although really it is more noticeable at lower resolutions than these) Now it's just the horizontal end.

So instead of calling someone stupid you better think first and do some research. Not just now but during most times of your life. You'll learn more and you'll be having productive conversations.

4K puts the vertical resolution 2nd, which is reversed from HD which puts it first, at least officially as most people refer to the 1080 2nd for rendering technique purposes. Putting the vertical number of pixels 2nd is the proper way to write it.

erm... no - they got it right. A 4k resolution is 3840x2160 - this is half the verticle pixels so it's 1920x2160.

It uses some sort of temporal injection or reconstruction mechanic to fill in the games - it's basically every other pixel on the verticle axis which is filled.

So yeah, I think the "dumbass" statement can be thrown right back at ya...

Not bad considering the hardware and scope of the game. But the Xbox One X is going to be the go to place for the best visual Red Dead Redemption 2 until a hopefully PC version comes.

I hope the game runs at a locked 30 fps on base systems. Having unlocked 60 on X1 and Pro and then going from 40-50 is annoying.

Not having a solid framerate is the single worst thing imaginable about any game. I can't stand any Battlefield game on console because of it's variable framerate. Locked 30 > variable 60, always.
