It's not that simple. Sometimes, a game is good, even great and still doesn't meet sales goals.

Just look at the Dishonored series as a prime example. Some franchises just get squeezed out. Mainly because people are willing to go with the rehashed product(s) or what's "hot" now.

People would rather put their money into things like COD, BF, or some battle royale game. It's sad because some truly good games won't get the attention they truly deserve as a result

Listen, just because someone plays games doesn't mean they're into all games. My sister dated a guy who played a lot of CoD years ago, so I lent him MAG. How could someone not be interested in 128v128 multiplayer by the people behind SOCOM? Another girl I was dating had a really weird brother who hated dust..so I gave him an extra SOCOM confrontation beta code I had. He decided to play Bad Company 1 instead.

Are you seeing t he pattern? People like what they like for specific reasons that matter to them. If Fortnite, PUBG and BF ceased to exist it's not like all of those people are going to be like "Soul Calibur!? What in tarnation is this about? Yeehaw"

There's a reason why marketing budgets are so large, a game without good word of of mouth and high awareness may not sell well, despite being good.

The end of last gen and this one are the start if a new generation of gamers and I think the market needs to adapt to how games are bought.

For an example one of if not the 1st fighting game this gen was KI and we have not seen a new version if the game all gen as in ki 2 and 3 but what they did was make the game £25 at the start and add £15 DLC for add-ons but kept updating the game for people who did not get the DLC.
I personally think other fighting games should follow this and I also think sports games should do this to. Even FPS and racing games could look at it going forward.

I hope sc is a success enjoyed them all.

@Cmv28 I couldn't agree with you more on this and I've been saying it for years. It took years for publishers to realize they didn't have to release their game in the Holiday. So we saw Jan-May become packed. Why they continue to ignore June-August I don't know. I do think that games like Octopath Traveler selling as well as it did will hopefully start to draw their attention.

I've enjoyed the lore behind Soul Calibre more than other fighters but never enjoyed it much.

I guess the ridiculous costumes and physics played a part, but I think Tekken is the best fighter atm.

The season passes are a joke though.

That is an option but not an ideal one if you wanna play online with other people. You'll fall behind and the community will wither over time making hard to get good matches unless it's going to be popular in the fgc scene, only top games can sustain themselves for years after launch.

Studios kill they're own games. Soul calibur doesn't get much funding from namco. It can't be great if it doesn't get the funding. If you want it to be successful put the proper resources behind it. Same thing happened to tony hawks 5 with activision. They didn't believe it would sell so they didn't fund it enough. The lack of funding made it a crappy game, got bad reviews and no one bought it.

True, It seems Project Souls are doing the best they can at a given chance but it feels the game is restrained and not advancing probably due to their resources being micro-managed by namco that they could've done much better without.

They've already mentioned post-launch DLC, which automatically means that I won't be picking up the gane at launch, but will wait for a complete edition somewhere down the line, if that ever comes, and if I'm still interested by then.

So yeah, I like SoulCalibur, but DLC-greed is always a great way to make me lose interest...

SCVI will probably flop in LATAM since Bandai do not practice regional prices. SCVI in Steam costs twice the price of other upcoming titles like Dead or Alive 6, Resident Evil 2 Remake and Metro Exodus :(
