I've always said that most of this game would be on rails, and the ending proves it. You were in that helicopter and you couldn't control your movements, just like the grind lifts, just like the elevator. I called this months ago ever since the grind lift trailer. The way the end boss was killed seemed to be by proxy, but until I actually play it myself, I'll withhold that comment until later.

I agree man, if thats there best attempt at water, complete fail. Check out the Vid, from 2:07 to 2:09 the physics of how that water is moving is compared to jello sliding down a hill, HORRIBLE, by far the worst next-gen water effects and physics I've ever seen. If I remeber correctly even that deuchebag Cliffy B was ranting and raving about how good the water was in Gears2. I've said it before, another mediocre game from Xbox, simple script, simple coding. If Gears broke down 6 360's at test launch then the hardware in the 360 is completely outdated, the only impressive aspect of Gears is the draw distance, thats it.

Didn't spoil it for me, cause I don't really care for the Gears saga and wouldn't have played through this one anyways. I beat the 1st one but I never was impressed by it like many of of you all were.

I think, honestly, this ending is a huge kick in the balls for sure. I've seen incredible endings (Shadow of the Collosus) and I've seen bad ones (Halo 3)... this was a bad one. The game is only said to be 6 hours long, up 2 hours from the last game, and this is what they give us to chew on for the next 2 years, huh?

The UnReal engine is starting to show its age a bit. I can see some minimal updated tweaks, but nothing new is being brought to the table. Thats why you see studios bringing up their in-house game engines instead of paying a good chuck for UnReal. I did find the water particle effects look more like a blob or goo-ish type material rather then liquid splashing material and creating some water mist effects(Could it be the video quality?). Heck even vapor didn't come up from the water hitting the molted lava. I was looking more forward to the UnReal engine since they talked about great updates, but it looks like this isn't the case.

This ending is god awful. Especially when Dark Sniper is used to play to playing AAA exclusives such as Metal Gear Solid 4 and Uncharted: Drakes Fortune.

The story and ending to Gears of War 2 is comparable to Unreal Tournament III. Pointless, useless and extremely bland. Much like most of Xbox 360's exclusives.

It doesn't really matter if the ending is bad or if the story is weak. Gears 2 will score at least a 95% by most game sites simply because the multiplayer game will be enough to make up for any short comings.

Why are you guys complaining? It left you with an "Oh, crap. What did he leave behind?" thought. I think they DID focus more on the storyline. There's obviously at LEAST one love interest, the monologue was intriguing, and the graphics were good. (I know the water wasn't fantastic.)

yeah that was awful, yes i own a ps3 and yes I play gears on the pc and I am a fan of gears but that ending was terrible for bigger more badass yea right i think the multi is going to be good and the horde mode so there's something to look forward to other than that i think the 360 or unreal engine is seeing it's graphical limit I sure damn hope for a pc version at 1900x1200 not so much for story but for multi and yes MGS4 story was so awsome.

In regards to the ending, maybe the youtube quality ruined to graphics, but they wouldn't be great anyway, seeing as everything is a mixture of grey and brown(besides those weird blue lights on that guys suit...).

Story wise, it was terrible. It was cliche and unoriginal. They really could have done better, especially with all the boasting and arrogant speeches that Cliff Bleszinski gave. It really will be a dissappoint compared to other games coming out like, Fable 2, Resistance 2, Killzone 2, Far Cry 2(WOAH WOAH WOAH!!! DID I JUST MENTION A NON-EXCLUSIVE. Yes. Also I do notice a trend of 2..).

the non story additions to gears 2 could of been DLC. epic is working with the 360 limitations and are doing their best... i think.. Yes I own a 360. What are you trying to say? I've played through GeoW campaign mode twice and the color pallete in that game was very consistent from beginning to end. I'm almost sure the sequel will be exactly the same by the looks of it and I maybe right.

and one of my biggest complaints about the game was the cliche story and 1dimensional characters ripped straight out of an 80's era Schwarzenegger movie.

even though Gears 2 wasn't on my list, i was reserving judgment, hoping that the story would be improved, especially since Epic has stated repeatedly that they've improved the story significantly.

now, this 4 minute ending is out of context, but even so, there are a few things that i didn't like, mostly the very cliche ending, and the complete and utter lack of emotional punch when Marcus is all upset about losing someone important to him. the big reveal lacked emotion also, in the same way the Darth Vader birth scene at the end of Episode 3 lacked emotional punch.

now, i KNOW that games can have excellent endings with deep emotional resonance for the player.

maybe they DID do a better job. i'm still going to reserve judgment, but i don't really plan on playing Gears 2 anyway, as Resistance 2 is my next big purchase after i pick up Fallout 3 later this week.

Don't forget Gears 1 defined the next gen visuals. Tell me one game before the release of Gears 1 looked that good. Secondly Gears 1 still is one of the best looking games so its quite obvious its pretty hard to top off. Only BioShock or MassEffect or COD4 looks better then Gears, but then Gears 2 is the best looking game on the 360. Yes I agree it isn't the Version 2.0 we all were looking forward to but I doubt we will see more improvements on 360 in visual departments.
