Photogrammetry comes to Skyrim thanks to this 4K/2K texture mod

As we’ve already stated, Photogrammetry is a technique that can benefit a lot of video-games. And since Skyrim is an open-world RPG featuring lots of objects with different textures, we are almost certain that it would look better with this technique. Thankfully, we can now take a look at such a thing as modders ‘lucidstorm1’ and ‘Renthal311’ have released the first mod that adds ‘Photogrammetric’ 4K/2K textures to Bethesda’s RPG.

Just imagine what they'll be able to do with the next ES game that isn't a console generation behind as the lowest common denominator to hold it back.

Crossing my fingers for a, "next gen", entry level console version, not current console hardware.

Not counting on a Switch release then?

This is like the tech used on vanishing of Ethan Carter right ?

john22697d ago

Yeap. And in other games like Battlefront 2

Bethesda should hire these modders instead of whoever their current graphic designers are.

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast24d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic24d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast24d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
