Two racing giants, head to head. Which crosses the finish line first? This article looks at which title ticks the most boxes for you.
PushSquare:
DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.
Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.
Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.
Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.
Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.
On the day that Gran Turismo Sport’s online services are switched off for good, a reflection on how impactful the game was for the sim racing industry.
fantastic game
innovative match making with player ettiquite tasked into account
GT7 improves on it with:
all the same tracks + loads more tracks
all the same cars + loads more cars
improved / new physics
dualsense support + haptics for road bumps
improved lighting + weather changable mid race
much more vast one player races, challenges, leagues etc.
more of an iteration than a revelation, but what they improve, they have improved so drastically it is deffo worth getting.
GT Sport, like Gran Turismo 7, requires internet to save. But now that its servers are going dark, that requirement is being removed.
I’m going to have to go with Driveclub. The sense of speed has you on the edge of your seat.
The weather is second to none and unlike some I actually like the handling model which is a mix between simulation and arcade. Not every game needs to be a simulation.
The menus system are also very streamlined, responsive, and the loading times are fast. Literally 15 seconds and your ready to go.
I’ll never forgive Sony for shutting Evolution Studios down. While Driveclub came out of the gate unfinished, I think they deserved a second chance.
Btw: Anyone know what happened to the game engine Evolution Studios built for Driveclub?
Neither. There are far better racing games on the ps4 then those 2
GT Sport for split screen couch multiplayer and to race on real life racetracks, DriveClub for everything else.
I like Driveclub a lot. It's a good mix between Sim and arcade.
I got both. They're a must own for any racing fan.
