MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog29d ago (Edited 29d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg18d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan28d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher58d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast56d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg57d ago (Edited 57d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic56d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee57d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator56d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast56d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Cyberpunk 2077 lead a rush of AAA Switch 2 ports

Big publishers who haven’t been able to bring their biggest multiplatform games to the Nintendo Switch due to its relative lack of processing power are racing to release ports of these titles on the more powerful Switch 2.

_SilverHawk_71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

After seeing the performance and quality of the games being inferior on switch 2 I'm curious to see the sales when released for switch 2 because those games are available now at discounted prices on pc handhelds and consoles with versions of those games far superior to what was shown on switch 2. Im wondering if millions of gamers will buy inferior versions of older games for switch 2 when they have better avenues of experiencing multiplatform games in way better quality

franwex71d ago

Yes. The answer to your question is yes.

To us those are inferior versions. To the people who Nintendo is marketing the switch 2, they are not. They don’t have other gaming consoles or gaming pcs. They have phones/tablets, maybe a work laptop.

Not sure if they will sell those versions for $70 or $80. But at $40 it is possible that they will sell well.

"big fk u to ms ha"

This comment will not age well.

Look no further than the upcoming Xbox Showcase.

gold_drake71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

mh probably not no ur right, but right at this very moment, its hilarious ha.

i guess because typically theres still gonna be a trailer on other systems if theres a multiplatform game in a showcase. wasnt im this case.

we'll see.

pwnmaster300071d ago

lol I feel like you made this call for a couple of games but always ended up wrong.
Forza not going to PlayStation.
Indiana jones not going PlayStation
Ms going multiplatform.
If your wrong here again im just gonna take everything you say and just believe the complete opposite.

andy8571d ago

It will. Isn't a chance on this planet its going to Xbox. Switch gamers buy games that's why it's on there, only wasnt already because it couldnt run it. Xbox players aren't interested in these types of games, and the fact they'd have to make 2 new console versions compared to 1 on Switch. Isn't worth it

Terry_B71d ago

Great. The Switch 2 can play Playstation 4 games released 5 years ago.

Obscure_Observer71d ago

Nice try.

It will also run current gen games like Split Fiction, Star Wars: Outlaws and the upcoming Borderlands 4, to name a few.

gold_drake71d ago

we dont know what they're gonna have to do to downgrade that tho.

all of these games are demanding titles.

especially outlaw and bdl 4

ThePacemaker71d ago

And the upcoming James Bond 007 game

gold_drake71d ago (Edited 71d ago )

that was my thought too, they made a huge deal about the new performanboost when we had this sorta thing with x1 and ps4 already.

Obscure_Observer71d ago

Console features 4K resolution up to 120fps. Plus DLSS and Ray Tracing support confirmed by Nintendo.

I think it will be more on par with the Xbox Series S rather than the PS4 Pro.

CrashMania71d ago

Will have to see I guess, most of the games they showed were cross gen and ran on PS4 and base X1, elden ring looked a bit rough if that was in game. Borderlands 4 doesn't look like much more graphically impressive than 3 to me, but as we've seen with switch 1 ports there'll probably have to be compromises for current gen games.

MDTunkown71d ago

Every multiplat is released on Xbox series S and switch 2 is around its strength but with newer hardware and better dlss and vrr so it probably will have better performance than S

CrashMania71d ago

@MD I think it's a pipedream, but I'd love to be proven wrong and would find it funny if it could somehow outperform the S. But i've not seen anything from the leaked specs or otherwise that suggests it's around series S level, more around PS4 and PS4 Pro level, which is to be expected from a handheld device, I think it has more RAM than the S though?

MDTunkown71d ago

@Crash it has more memory than series s and memory seems to be the main problem with series s. Now thinking about it, it’s quite interesting that MS decided to go with 8gb of ram while one X already had 12gb of ram.

darthv7270d ago (Edited 70d ago )

@md, ms has the opportunity to use ssd space as a memory cache but have not implemented it. It could help alleviate the memory issues devs say about the SS.

This is something MS has years of experience with in their OS division. Virtual memory. Switch 2 has 256gb of storage but they never gave specs on cpu/GPU or ram... some are saying that 256gb is shared with system ram. And it could be dynamic too.

When I saw how much the console and games cost online it might as well already be scalped. The console price is basically the same as the PS5 and the games cost twice as much as I usually spend.

gold_drake71d ago

yeh i might just get the cknsole next year and just mod it quite honestly.

aint no way ima pay close to 100 quid or euros for a hame

badz14971d ago

Good luck playing the worst versions at inflated prices Nintendo fans
