Im shocked at how well it has transitioned to the Switch. Been meaning to play it on X1 but might hold out to get this version now.

Bahamut2767d ago

How are you shocked? It's an old game that's been re-re-released a dozen times, of course it will work... as much as a Bethesda game can, anyway.

Shiken2767d ago

Well it is based off of the Special Edition so jt is more compareable to the PS4 or X1 version (which would not run at that level on the PS360) than the original release of the game.

michellelynn09762766d ago

It is based more on the SP version and the frame rate is smoother and it does not have the bad bugs the other ones have.

The 10th Rider2767d ago

Yeah, I won't be buying it because I have it on PC, but it sounds like a fantastic port. No mod support sucks but apparently it's surprisingly low on bugs and the motion control support is actually fantastic. It even has motion assisted aiming like Breath of the Wild. Bethesda is really coming out swinging with Nintendo Switch support.

InTheZoneAC2767d ago

That moment when you brag about motion controls, but then follow up with needing motion assist.

The 10th Rider2767d ago (Edited 2767d ago )

@InTheZoneAC,

What's that even supposed to mean?

I said the optional motion controls are apparently good, which I wasn't expecting at all. That's when you have the joy-cons disconnected and you use motions to do things such as attack.

Then I said it even apparently has motion assisting aiming like in Breath of the Wild. That's where you generally are using the stick to aim, but you can make subtle changes by titling the controller (or entire Switch in handheld mode). It's like a hybrid of normal aiming and Splatoon aiming.

Motion controls and motion assisted aiming are two different things.

Motion controls are what's in this video: https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Motion assisted aiming would be playing the game normally, but tilting the controller to help aim. People have mentioned it but I can't find a video of it. It worked incredibly well in BOTW so if it's in Skyrim that's a huge plus.

blawren42767d ago

Motion assisted aiming should be in every 1st or third person game that makes sense going forward. Total game changer for me. Might pick this up.

The 10th Rider2766d ago

@blawren4,

Yeah, it's incredible how much extra precision it allows for. I can make arrow shots in Breath of the Wild way faster than I've been able to in any previous Zelda game. Considering the DS4 has accelerometers in it as well more third parties should get on board to support it on Switch and PS4. At the very least it doesn't hurt to have it as an option.

why shocked? the Switch is around xbox 360 in power, sooo if the 360 can run it, why should the switch have an issue?

Shiken2767d ago

The Switch is far beyond the 360 lmao.

The WiiU was more powerful than the 360, and the Switch is more powerful than the WiiU. Even if you are trolling, it just shows how little you know about the topic.

EddieNX 2767d ago

The Switch is about half way between a 360 and XB1 in power. It's architecture is more modern akin to the XB1 tho.

C-H-E-F2767d ago

@shiken @eddinx

Like i said the SWITCH is around the 360 in power, doesn't matter if it's 1.3x more powerful or 1.5x more powerful it's around the same power... I didn't say it was the exact same. I swear yall be so ready to jump someone, what were yall literary grades in gradeschool? lOl.

Gemmol2766d ago

It's not just 1.3 that's what they trying to tell you, there was a rumor which seems true that Xbox one is only 6 times stronger than 360, and same rumor said the Wii U was 2 times stronger than 360 this before Wii U came out this was some developer trying to help others see how strong the Wii U was ,,,,,,,,switch is stronger than Wii U in handheld mode by itself without extra power from being in the dock......so common sense would put the Switch 4 to 5 or even 4.5 times stronger than the 360

Which is why Switch can get ports of current games because its not a huge gap as in the past..... Like the Wii and 360 where the 360 was 32 times stronger

And you can't always go by teraflops with Nivida there are many proofs online with different nivida cards that have less teraflops than AMD but still out perform it giving better performance..

marloc_x2766d ago

..because I cannot walk out of the house playing a 360..🙄

Segata2766d ago

Erm no. Wii U was about 2x the 360 and Switch is about 2x the power of Wii U. Switch is far more powerful than a 360.

Shiken2766d ago

No it is not around the same in power, not even remotly close. It is closer to the X1 than the 360, even if the jump to X1 is still a decent gap. Either admit you were wrong and move on or work on your troll game, because you are way off pal.

C-H-E-F2766d ago (Edited 2766d ago )

Switch: 315 GFLOPS portable / 785 GFLOPS docked, 4GB DDR4 RAM (shared)
Wii U: 352 GFLOPS, 2GB RAM (shared)
Xbox 360: 240 GFLOPS, 512MB RAM (shared).
PS3: 228.8 GFLOPS, 256MB System RAM, 256MB VRAM

as I said, the switch is about 1.3x more powerful than the 360, now when it's docked it's about 3x more powerful, the switch is a HANDHELD so I was making my statement via the handheld capabilities. When the devs make the game, they have to account for the LOWEST COMMON DENOMINATOR, they are not building switch games based on the dock because if you take it off of the dock then the game will basically crash. However being docked it's in-between both last gen and this gen

yall so quick to ride d, fall back relax it's okay you're in your feelings for no reason LMAO

why so shocked? The switch is like 3-4x the power of Xbox 360. Switch version is the Special Edition.

Can’t wait to play this. I’ll support Betheda for bringing their games to the Switch.

TheEnigma3132767d ago (Edited 2767d ago )

This is good that it came to switch but it shouldn't be $60; that's crazy.

blawren42767d ago

I've never bought Skyrim before. the game is new to me. I have no issue with $60. If I had bought it and played before, I wouldn't be interested. I can't be alone.

wonderfulmonkeyman2766d ago (Edited 2766d ago )

Well, it's not like they can pay the porting team off of the profits of other versions, ya know...
I mean, sure, it would be great to see a reduction in the price tag, but business-wise it wouldn't make much sense...

kevnb2767d ago

I’m tempted to get this once the price goes down.

Kyizen2767d ago

Game is over 6 years old now praising it for running on a new 2017 console is dumb, im sure most cell phones can run Skyrim. That doesnt take away that is great to have this on a platform that is mobile with controllers vs touch screen.

Gemmol2766d ago

Show me one cellphone game that is similar

Prince_TFK2766d ago

My cellphone (Galaxy S8) can barely run Bully port properly without dropping framerate, so I doubt any phone can run this game properly as of now.

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog30d ago (Edited 30d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg19d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan29d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher59d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast57d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg58d ago (Edited 58d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic57d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee57d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator57d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast57d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
