In a very busy year for racing game releases, Polyphony's long running Gran Turismo series is making its debut on PlayStation 4. Thankfully, it is still one of the classiest racing sims available on the Sony's console.
On the day that Gran Turismo Sport’s online services are switched off for good, a reflection on how impactful the game was for the sim racing industry.
fantastic game
innovative match making with player ettiquite tasked into account
GT7 improves on it with:
all the same tracks + loads more tracks
all the same cars + loads more cars
improved / new physics
dualsense support + haptics for road bumps
improved lighting + weather changable mid race
much more vast one player races, challenges, leagues etc.
more of an iteration than a revelation, but what they improve, they have improved so drastically it is deffo worth getting.
GT Sport, like Gran Turismo 7, requires internet to save. But now that its servers are going dark, that requirement is being removed.
Sony Interactive Entertainment has delisted Gran Turismo Sport from the PlayStation Store as of January 1, 2024.
The great digital future. Where games vanish. The benefits of digital just aren't enough over physical to every buy in 100 percent. Especially when my Atari games still work and can be played to this day over 40 years later. Some of these digital games don't even last a whole generation.
Online based titles like this I wouldn't expect to last forever as the game has been updated iterations as in gt7
Same with if FIFA 20 was delisted as example there's update to game. If something like Uncharted collection was delisted then that's something that's bad
You pay stupid money for digital games and DLC, then it goes missing. Who's laughing?
