Uncharted The Lost Legacy Making of vs E3 2017 Trailers Graphics Comparison

Cyckiewicz writes: Finding differences in graphics were always fun for me. And comparing two latest gameplay trailers of Uncharted The Lost Legacy can be a little surprising. Most of the footage shown in both “Making of” and E3 2017 videos are the same and do not differ in any way. However there are two scenes that may share some light on how the game design has evolved a little.
First thing that can catch our eyes is changed lightning in Chloe and Nadine conversation scene. Also main character model seems to be slightly different between both vids.
In second scene some changes can be easily spotted. Look closely on shiny thing right above protagonist's head. Small waterfall on the right seems to have less water in it and overal details of the building looks different as well.
What do you guys think?

i think e3 looks better, better texture and lighting

looks softer in "the making" clip

Altovoltage2875d ago

Are you sure you're looking at the same footage because look closely in the cave and look at the characters.

TheGamingArt2875d ago

If we're going off of this, the e3 footage looks far better. Sharper textures, better lighting, farther backdrop rendering...

FPSFox2875d ago

Looked closely... E3 is better.

PLASTICA-MAN2874d ago (Edited 2874d ago )

The E3 footage is better:
Litghting is better so more self-shadowing appears on Chloe's chest from her necklace and shirt.
Character models looks different: Chloe is sweaty and dirty and her skin color looks more natural. She has an extra braid of hair falling on her cheeck and AA on hair looks better.
And GUESS WHAT? He got that completely wrong.
The making off must have been recorded some time ago and they used the old footage of The Riverboat video that was released before E3. At E3 they got those features improved and you can see all those details in the newest gameplay videos. Don't get fooled by this comparison like I did at the beginning.

PLASTICA-MAN2874d ago

I am even sure the scene with more waterfalls is part of the final build now

E3 video was recorded in 4K while "the making of" was recorded in 1080p.

Rude-ro2875d ago

With hdr active as well

TheGamingArt2874d ago

I'm totally skeptical on the footage above just because of this and HDR.

Hallgeir2875d ago (Edited 2875d ago )

Yeah the E3 trailer looked like it had better lightning and sharper image overall but is it possible that the reason for that is things like 4K and HDR? I'm just asking because I dont know. Just dont make sense that it would be such a difference so close to release. Either way it looks just as good as Uncharted 4.

Rude-ro2875d ago

Hdr provides a better color range and brighter colors

I commented in the Horizon sales article praising Gurella Games, saying that Horizon was was more impressive than the uncharted series now.

But after seeing some Lost Legacy gameplay. Oh man, I need to recant. Naughty Dogs game is just as impressive. Competition is fierce among first party Sony studios. Lost legacy is better than Horizon in some aspects. Water effects , destructsbility, and particle effects for example.

Got my copy pre-ordered. The free PS4 version of Jak and Daxter is a sweet bonus.

Germaximus2875d ago

The truly impressive thing about Horizon is that it is a truly open world while Uncharted is far more linear.

Bronxs152875d ago

Agreed. And not just that. That art design is really impressive too. The whole new IP and universe they created.

I can see Alloy becoming a PlayStation icon like Nathan Drake or Kratos.

It's a nice reality about PlayStation consoles. Every gen major new IP are introduced.

PS1 saw Gran Turism
Ps2 jak and daxter ratchet and clank god of war
PS3 uncharted and infamous last of us
PS4 Horizon and days gone.

Dark_Knightmare22874d ago

I'm right there with you. I remember playing through horizon and being blown away with how beautiful it was and thinking it looked better than Uc 4. I started Uc 4 up two days ago for the first time since playing horizon for a playthrough in prep for lost legacy and was blown away it truly is beyond beautiful with an attention to detail that is unrivaled. Now horizon looks better when you look at how it's a huge open world game compared to Uc being wide linear but putting that aside in a straight up pound for pound comparison Uc easily looks better. It doesn't take nothing away from horizon which is the best looking open world game to date and like Uc one of the best games this gen.

Bronxs152874d ago

Yeah. And soon we're gonna be throwing spider man in the mix I feel!

Germaximus2875d ago

E3 easily superior. No biggy, the game will still be gorgeous but damn that is disappointing.

Kratos02892874d ago

Apart from the different lighting in the first few seconds they look exactly the same, you people on here saying the E3 video looks 'vastly' better are looneys lol

Because the recent Tomb Raider games haven’t been that good, so inject Lara into Uncharted and boom good “Tomb Raider” game. Can’t fault them. *shrugs*

Naughty Dog Is Right To Leave Uncharted Behind

Naughty Dog is changing. It’s about time, but part of fans will miss what the studio has become over the past fifteen years as a pioneer of cinematic blockbusters lined with prestige storytelling that the entire medium now tries to emulate. It changed everything. But now, it is both leaving Uncharted behind and has no plans for The Last of Us Part 3 unless the narrative it aims to deliver is absolutely necessary.

This is the right move, and the selfless one from a studio that could have milked both these properties until there was nothing left.

Yep . Another studio can make it if needed . If Sony wants to do it or not who knows ?

Cikatriz_ESP871d ago

Uncharted 4 is by far the worst in the series, but I fear Naughty Dog is incapable of redeeming the franchise with another entry. Amy Hennig is gone and Neil Druckmann has more than proven he's not a storyteller.

Kassanova07871d ago

A classic series for the ages.
