Forza 7 looks and sounds the best. Probably plays the best too.

Shadyceaser2845d ago (Edited 2845d ago )

Forza 6 drives like a ship not a car ... We'll no car I have ever driven and I have driven a bloody lot considering my age ... So I am thinking of not getting 7 and I have bought the other 6.... Spent maybe 6 hours in forza , cars 1 almost 300 hours

InMyOpinion2845d ago

I thought Project Cars 1 felt way too twitchy. To each his own.

Shin-Zantetsuken2844d ago

Man, those cardboard trees and flat grass textures look terrible in GT Sport. To think that after 20 years, they are still using cardboard trees and flat textures instead of proper geometrical models... I dont know why GT games take so long to create and are still not up to modern standards. I bought every GT game until GT4 but it has been nothing but disappointment since then. The only things GT Sport has going for it are lighting and car models. The environments, content, vehicle damage (or the lack of) are all disappointing.

InMyOpinion2844d ago

The pixelated car shadows don't belong in 2017 either.

SonyWarrior2844d ago

project cars got boring to me since every thing was unlocked from the start but yea its def way better then forza. i hope cars 2 has things locked so it makes it more fun to play

SolidStoner2844d ago

Rain VS no rain.. WOW what a comparison! that is just cheap fanboy stuff!

Kingdomcome2472844d ago

Well, to be honest SolidStoner, I think that the desert setting track in Forza 7 (Dubai?) shows off the visuals of Forza 7 at their apex (see what I did there?), yet we don't see that footage in these comparisons, and if I'm not mistaken, the Nurburgring, and the desert track are the only two tracks that we have seen gameplay footage of thus far. So, there's not exactly a huge vault of Forza 7 footage to draw from. I don't necessarily believe that there is some sort of conspiracy, or nefarious subterfuge afoot.

Not 3d, but good enough for a racing game.

You think? The skybox and sun effects looked WAY better in GT6 than the other two. Lighting looked best overall on PCars.

GUTZnPAPERCUTZ2844d ago

Skybox goes to Forza, their skies are 4k and look better imo

ninsigma2844d ago

@gutz
Agreed. Sky box in Forza 7 is flipping awesome.

Inzo2844d ago

What, forza sounds terrible, granted gt sport could use some audio tuning as well.

Crazyglues2844d ago (Edited 2844d ago )

@ InMyOpinion

- this is actually not a fair assessment as Project cars 1 allowed you to adjust the settings to such a level that you could actually get the car to drive how you want, and while the average person is not going to go into the controls to that level, it is there to give you full control of the feel..

That is what makes Project Cars so good, I know this because at first I hated everything, until I found a guy on youtube who was showing how to perfectly adjust the settings to get a more real car feel... and then I fell in-love with Project Cars...

So it's pretty amazing that they went to that level of control, and pretty awesome to be able to get the game the way you want it, for that reason it really is a much better game then it gets credit for..

tmisellati2844d ago

@Shin-Zantetsuken
Agree with you.
Actually I wrote similar comment a couple of days ago and I got tons of dislikes.
I still insist the last great GT was no.4 and all subsequent GTs are just iterations with better but ok visuals that do not meet the high standard of GT series.
I still can not believe they still use the cardboard trees. Japanese devs need to evolute. They are far away behind in technology aspect.

Dragonscale2844d ago

Yeah 'inyouropinion' lol. Forza handling us usually not the best.

PFFT2844d ago

Agreed! Forza 7 looks and sounds amazing.

Zeref2844d ago (Edited 2844d ago )

Forza 7 looks really mind-blowing , anyone who disagreed is a flaming fanboy. Give credit where credit is due.

The difference is just night and day. Forza 7 looks leagues better than both of these games.
GT Sport looks the worst, it looks an early gen game, even Forza 6 probably looks better. Project Cars 2 looks a bit better than GT but still a distant number 2 from Forza 7.

Yohshida2844d ago

Because that is what really matters to gamers

4Sh0w2844d ago (Edited 2844d ago )

Yeah because COD will outsell every game this year, it's clearly the GOTY. I mean as gamers who follow the business we don't care about how good something is, only how much it sells, that's what makes us happy.

pffft, now on a serious note Im sure GT will sell alright but, imo the quality compared to the competition is lacking at some point it's gonna impact sells, whether you think so or not some GT fans are gonna let PD know they need to step it up going forward.

CernaML2844d ago

Shin-Zantetsuken2844d ago (Edited 2844d ago )

It is very likely that Forza 7 will score highest given the massive upgrade in quality, visuals, and content. Turn 10 has been making massive strides with each Forza game. While PD takes 5 years to release a GT game with very little improvement over predecessors and half the number of cars compared to Forza. I also hate their Preimum Cars and Standards Cars system which is just a way to fluff up the number of cars by adding PS2/PS3 car models so that they dont have to create new current gen level models from scratch.

Project Cars 2 will probably be a just an underwhelming glitchfest like last time. I remember how it was hyped to high heaven last time as developers kept releasing bullshots with crazy mindblowing graphics. When it actually released it looked like a PS2 game with tons of bugs and glitches and got mediocre reviews.

BABY-JEDI2844d ago

I believe GT Sport is dropping the old car models. What's new is claimed to be the most detailed & accurate. But all credit to Forza. Their team have been a whole lot more industrious than Polythony 🤔

mcstorm2844d ago

I'm with you I think Forza 7 looks the better game. I still don't like how the road looks like it moved around the car on GT. I don't play in that view but every time I see it I don't get why the car looks static.

I got PC and got read of it I tried it again this weekend as it was a free download a few months back and they had fixed a lot in it but the game still felt poor. For me at this month in time both turn10 and PlayGround hold the console racing crowns with forza 6 and horizon 3. Really do hope the others step up though as ide love 3 or 4 amazing racing games.

Shadyceaser2844d ago

With all the patches pcars1 is not the same game they released day one.
Not even close.
I will agree it was a bit if a mess at first .. Now it wipes the floor with forza ....
Forza is a little to arcade for me.

andrewsquall2844d ago

Its very likely Forza 7 will score the highest because even when Forza isn't impressive whatsoever (Forza 2, Forza 3, the dreadful Forza 5 with its downgrade and 11 tracks) people still give it 9/10 scores across the board.

Its like Microsoft's very own Zelda series. Even when a complete terrible game like Skyward Sword comes out and gets perfect 10/10 scores, it makes the next game pale in comparison when it ends up getting the exact same thing lol. You shouldn't have to be asking something like "wait is this a 10/10 or a Skyward Sword overblown 10/10???"

Yohshida2844d ago

Even the lackluster Forza 5 had more content at a console launch than gt after 4 years.

Chris122844d ago

@andrewsquall - Forza 5's metacritic was 79%, which was probably about right for a launch title. It clearly wasn't 9/10's across the board as you suggest

timotim2844d ago

The interesting part of all this is that FM5 took a serious beating from Sony fans at launch due to its lack of content, not only vs other Forza titles years past, but also GT games. Well that was way back in 2013...here we are in 2017 and 4YEARS LATER and GTS has LESS content than FM5 had!!!

FM5 also took a beating for its 2D crowds...GTS shows up 4 years later with 2D trees...yet here you are defending it...hmmmmm🤔

CoryHG2844d ago

These scores will be skewed i'm telling you now. I'm a reviewer, I know. Forza is normally fun as hell and approachable or casuals, but this does not mean it is the best test as a driving simulator. The gaming industry is dominated by casuals, as is the movie industry.

Lennoxb632844d ago

Forza's driving difficulty can be tweaked. There's driving for casuals then there's driving for pros and/or people who use wheels.

CernaML2844d ago

Funny. I bet you guys dont hold scores with so much importance when your favorite games get low scores or your most hated ones get high scores. :)

I can throw the same argument at you guys. How can scores matter to gamers so long as they enjoy the game?

timotim2844d ago

What real gamers care about most is the quality of the games, not its sales. Sales have never and will never determine quality...only popularity. Sure a single review by a publication is just one person's opinion...but what sites like Metacritic does is to count the general consensus across dozens of reviews. This gives the gamer a better understanding its quality.

This will be the first GT of this generation! 4 years after the generation was started. Of course it will sell pretty high...fans are still waiting for there fix. This will be the 3rd installment of the Motorsport series of this generation alone...GTS better outsell it haha. But just because fans are eager to play it, doesn't equate to it being the better racer...

CernaML2843d ago

No. Real gamers care if a game is good and fun to them. How many times have we seen people call certain franchises totally overrated or underrated? Theres a reason for that, scores are SUBJECTIVE and do not determine the quality of games either. What good was GTA4's meta score of 98 if everyone calls it a POS nowadays?

Sales and Scores are the same. You can pick a side but youre still a fanboy either way.

timotim2843d ago (Edited 2843d ago )

Haha...words like "good" and "fun" are words that speak towards a game's quality. Thank you for proving my point. By viewing scores across dozens of reviews and reading said reviews, this gives the gamer a BETTER SENSE of the game's quality. We are talking about the GENERAL CONSENSUS here...it doesn't mean everyone will agree. Sure, not everyone will find GTA4 to be a 98 out of 100 today, but for ITS TIME, the game was considered a master piece in open world.

CernaML2843d ago (Edited 2843d ago )

Lol Your point has not been proven. Fun is subjective. If you saw a game that scored a 90+ on metacritic, decided to try it out and realized it wasnt fun to you, how does that score give the game a sense of quality? Take Persona 5 for example, the highest rated JRPG of the generation. Angry Joe, considered the most unbiased reviewer out there, tried it and didnt really enjoy it much.
Funny how COD is always thrown out there whe sales vs quality are brought up... but wasnt Infinite Warfare the worst selling COD to date? The drop in sales was probably caused by *gasp* the drop in quality! Therefore, sales = quality! :)

The fact this comparison can and has been made shows what an exciting time it is to be a driving/racing game fan. I'm very hopeful all 3 games will be brilliant, meaning everyone can enjoy them no matter what your preferred platform is.

ninsigma2844d ago

That's a much better comparison than the last one that was uploaded here. The natural lighting in GT sport is really really nice and the whole thing looks better than previous videos I've seen. Forza 7 has a gorgeous sky box and really nice weather effects. Also looking very nice as a whole package. Can't see much of PC2 so I must check out some other vids.

So far, both GT Sport and Forza 7 are making me want them.

Bigpappy2844d ago

What I like and what stands out to me about Forza 7, other than the graphic, is that it looks so much faster and the AI less robotic than GT. So when comparing the videos, it looks more lively and responsive.

Gran Turismo Sport Has Been Delisted From PS Store

Sony Interactive Entertainment has delisted Gran Turismo Sport from the PlayStation Store as of January 1, 2024.

ApocalypseShadow475d ago

The great digital future. Where games vanish. The benefits of digital just aren't enough over physical to every buy in 100 percent. Especially when my Atari games still work and can be played to this day over 40 years later. Some of these digital games don't even last a whole generation.

purple101475d ago

But in this case everyone who has it still has it

And they unlocked single player to be allowed to progress offline

ApocalypseShadow474d ago (Edited 474d ago )

But in the case of others, they can no longer can buy it or any delisted game. Just like online only games that get their servers turned off and there's no update for offline with bots.

If you like the idea of any digital game being delisted where it's no longer available at all, then you and others are fools. What's all that presentation bullshit guys like you spew?

There should be no reason any digital game should be removed. Ever.

Bathyj473d ago

Apocalypse no one likes it. But let's be clear here.

If you own the game, you still own it. All that's happening here is they are stopped selling it.

Why? I have no clue. But it's the exact same thing if your local best buy isn't stocking the disc anymore and Sony aren't making any more. Same thing, just in the digital realm.

If you want to complain about servers for an online game being shut down, go ahead. But that's a separate topic and can happen to any online game even with a physical disc.

fan_of_gaming473d ago (Edited 473d ago )

@Bathyj "But it's the exact same thing if your local best buy isn't stocking the disc anymore and Sony aren't making any more. Same thing, just in the digital realm."

It isn't the exact same thing at all. When a game gets a physical release, it is always available even if big-box retailers aren't selling it new anymore. For example, I can go on eBay today and buy a new & sealed copy of Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron for PS3, because it once had a physical release. However I cannot buy a copy of Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron for PS4 today, because it had a digital-only release and was delisted.

If Gran Turismo Sport had a digital-only release, it would be unavailable for anyone to buy ever again. But because it had a physical release, in 5 years someone that wants to play it can still acquire it.

Cacabunga473d ago

People should stand against digitalization

purple101473d ago (Edited 473d ago )

I have only brought one or two digital games in my life
Everything I buy is physical

Often from eBay in perfect condition.
Sometimes from a online shop in uk such as

365games
Shopto.net
Simplygames
Base.com

All, who will ship disk to your door on day of release, cheaper than buying from digital store.

Then I either keep, lend, or sell. My choice

No where, did I say I support digital. And yet someone even called me a fool,
Haha
Totally misunderstood, some would say, he’s the fool

With GtSport It ISNT being taken away from anyone who already owns it. So this has all got out of hand with people not even reading the article

DigitallyAfflicted474d ago

Maybe this will make people realise the future of digital-only games

purple101474d ago

This one won’t though
Because it’s not de-listed and taken away from you
It’s just not on sale anymore and the multiplayer will be shut down soon I reckon. It released 2017 so it’s had a fair run of 5 years online multiplayer lobbies

DigitallyAfflicted474d ago

@Purple, but it could be taken away, like p.t. Demo was, as well is taken away from anyone who didn't purchase GTsport in a digital form and yes I know we can still buy disc version and it's not a big of a deal.

My point is that you can't own something if it's not physical, with digital-only content you pay for the right to download and use and possibly in the future there will be some laws regulating you rights to it…

blackblades474d ago

I mean y'all been whining about that since the ps3 era. To this day im still able to play all the games I payed for.

ApocalypseShadow474d ago (Edited 474d ago )

It won't. Fools like purple think that just because they can still download it now, that it's safe. I've bought multiple games on console and mobile that are no longer downloadable or function. Because the game was either delisted or since it was connected to the Internet, no longer works because the servers were shut down turning those games into coasters. With no update to be able to play some games offline with bots. They're gone.

He won't get it or care until it happens to him and some of his games are delisted and removed or don't work any more even if he "bought it "

EvertonFC474d ago (Edited 474d ago )

If you don't keep your old consoles, your physical disk will be useless too. Do you think console hardware or disk drives will be around in 20 years. Good luck with that.
I'm not saying it's right btw, just pointing out to the physical crowd that digital and physical are very alike when it comes to actually being able to play the games in the future like 20 years time.
When I'm in my care home, I don't expect to be able to play my old digital or physical collection as consoles won't be around or disk drives for playstation.
Unless your keeping the old consoles safe in the attic over time, nobody will be playing there old physical game collections.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 474d ago
EvertonFC474d ago

If you bought a physical launch day copy of GTS you still won't be able to download any of the updates in 20 years when servers are off.
Plus there will be no such thing as a disk drive or a hardware box for that matter in 20 years unless you keep your old consoles.
My point is sadly your physical or digital copy won't work.

Barlos473d ago (Edited 473d ago )

I see this as the digital equivalent of physical games going out of print. They don't continue to make copies forever, at some point they will stop making it, usually when sales dry up and I guess for GT sport that happened some time ago. Also, in the digital world, storage space is not infinite. If a game is no longer selling, why would they waste space on keeping it available?

For those that already own the digital version, they will still have access to it.

frostypants473d ago

I generally agree, but GT Sport is primarily an online game. They probably have some reluctance to deal with the blowback of selling an online-oriented game that may not have active servers much longer. Admittedly that's a whole other issue in itself.

+ Show (2) more repliesLast reply 473d ago
Father__Merrin473d ago

Online based titles like this I wouldn't expect to last forever as the game has been updated iterations as in gt7

Same with if FIFA 20 was delisted as example there's update to game. If something like Uncharted collection was delisted then that's something that's bad

Agent75473d ago

You pay stupid money for digital games and DLC, then it goes missing. Who's laughing?

Time to get a PS5! New PS5 owners in the USA can currently claim a game for free, but GT7 is not part of this promotion.

purple101573d ago

GT sport was good. Gt7 is better.

For someone who was crap at racers (and still is) and only played kart racers with powerups, I can say GT sport and gt7 balance SIM/ arcade racing to perfection. Easy enough for anyone to play and not crash but with enough depth to master for years.

Totally different to need for speed / Forza handling where the cars feel 'floaty'.

The dualsense is just supreme with gt7 toi

badz149573d ago

So...will they enable offline saves now or what?

VariantAEC567d ago

From Gran-Turismo.com (the article liked above): "All existing cars and personalized Car Settings kept in Garage will be accessible. Gameplay progression required as normal to unlock additional cars and items."

So... yes, as far as I can tell you'll still be able to use all your collected and purchased cars and race on all the tracks in the game and unlock ones you might not already have access to. That's what I'm getting from the post, but time will tell if this actually comes to pass February 1st, 2024.

Agent75572d ago

After Turismo 4 on the PS2, the series was never the same. Although Turismo 4 wasn't a finished game and didn't play as good as Turismo 3. Turismo 5 on PS3 was a mess, Turismo 6 was Turismo 5 finished. Sport on PS4 was another mess, especially VR mode. Sort of back on track with Turismo 7, but so tiring as with the Forza series. Anyone remember the PSP version that had no championship mode? Turismo has always been average at best.

OmegaSoldati572d ago

Thats why i dont like online only games. Cant believe this, this game sold so well. You need to be a fanboy to keep supporting Sony after this. Bought this thinking that it would take 10 years for this. I'm lucky that there are enough classics and single players for a life time.

VariantAEC567d ago

Looks like PD has the potential to set the bar for closing out always online games.
Back when GT Sport launched you couldn't do anything when you couldn't access the servers, but it looks like GT Sport will retain access to SP race modes, custom races, VR, your full garage, and all tracks. This is much more than what was available at launch if offline.

We still will lose custom liveries and race suits, which is nonsense, but hey if you share them online now they will be in the cloud and available to you in GT7 if you're interested. Basically, we lose MP, but players keep everything we earned and whatever was paid for.
