Not surprising. Nintendo could have made it at least 20% more powerful

The 10th Rider2947d ago

They probably could have made it 100% more powerful if they wanted to charge an extra $200 for it, but as it is people are complaining about the price and battery life.

That being said, I do wish they'd waited a year and made use of the new GPU and processor tech, they could have squeezed a little extra power out without significantly impacting price or battery life.

Cybermario2948d ago

probably the first of many games that wil face this problem, anyone is surprised? nop!

EddieNX 2948d ago (Edited 2948d ago )

Considering its a handheld , no, not surprised. wud be if they said its better than console versions. Honestly, if Nintendo had made a home console and it was as powerful as Switch then yes, id complain. But the beauty of Switch is its portable nature.

Cybermario2948d ago

even when Nintendo says it is a HOME console with portable capabilities? You people need to stop lying when Nintendo is saying this is not a handheld but a home console.

Nyxus2947d ago

According to Nintendo it's a home console. One that you can take with you, yes, but it can still be used as a home console. It replaces the Wii U, not the 3DS.

EddieNX 2947d ago

If something is handheld then its handheld, you both just contradicted yourselves. Its just a bonus that you can play it in the style of a console. You really gunna try convince me that small hanheld tablet is a home console?

Aenea2947d ago

Since the Wii U isn't being made anymore this means Nintendo doesn't have a home console at all currently?

Or could it be that the Switch is trying to be both?

_-EDMIX-_2947d ago

Agreed.

Moot.

Of course many games will face this problem. This device was not made to play those demanding PC,PS4 and XBONE games.

They will be fine. 3DS and DS didn't need major AAA games from PC, PS3 or 360 to succeeded.

I think this is simply being caused by Nintendo choosing to market it as a home console. No one was asking 3DS to have Mass Effect or RE6 etc lol

Sono4212947d ago

Eddie did you even read their comments? Did you forget the gospel that your Nintendo overlords once said? Your holy Nintendo already declared it a home console. You don't dare question what your gods say do you?! Quick someone get this man a shepard! A sheep has wandered astray! Quick tell him how awesome it is to use friend codes! How online gaming isn't important, that voice chat through your phone is a good idea! EddieNX: "oh yeah.. of course friend codes are awesome! and duh it's so much more convenient to do voice chat through your phone! but wait.. Isn't online irrelevant anyway? error in fanboy logic error does not comp-jksaldjaosijo" oh shit eddie just broke.. well just goes to show, doesn't do any good to use logic with a fanboy.

Nintendo can say that the Switch is a home console until they're blue in the face, it doesn't change the fact that the thing is a handheld.

Have you seen its size? It's barely bigger than a smartphone. About 1/7th the size of a Playstation 4.

The machine's power is pretty decent given its size. People expecting it to come anywhere close to an Xbox One, let alone a PS4, need a reality check.

EddieNX 2947d ago

Well said, its litteraly just as much a handheld as a 3ds or Vita, how is it not?

_-EDMIX-_2947d ago

Agreed.

Folks need to stop letting the marketing of a company go against their own logic.

Sirk7x2947d ago

For real. I have a Zmax Pro, and with the phone case, it's the same size as my Switch. My Switch dock isn't even connected to my TV, and I pretty much use it exclusively in handheld mode. Show me any device with a battery, attachable controls and a touch screen, and I'll tell you that it's a handheld device. For how small of a device it is, the Switch has some pretty amazing performance.

LavaLampGoo2948d ago

I am very excited about this game. Shame it's long road to release wasn't easier, and still isn't looking at the Switch. Hope it's worth all the hassle for the team and the wait for the fans

KaiPow2948d ago

I'm sure having to account for handheld and dock modes on the Switch is another roadblock in development.

FungLip2947d ago

This game is Journey + ICO + The Witness.

I love this controller. Feels so nice in the hand. Plus the battery lasts for days, it's crazy.

peppeaccardo14h ago

$100 ?????????????????????????????? ??????????????????????????????? ???????????????

1nsomniac13h ago

Yea the pricing for Nintendo peripherals is a bigger joke than the game prices. What the hell were they thinking!

peppeaccardo4h ago

i mean for a piece of slightly redesigned plastic with the same take of the last few years this has written GREED all over it ! Shame on Nintendo.

OMNlPOTENT5m ago

It's $85. The standard Dualsense is $75. The Dualsense Edge (Playstation Pro controller) is $200. The Xbox Elite (Xbox Pro controller) is also $200. How exactly is $85 so drastically insane compared to those prices?

Vits13h ago

The thing is, over the past decade, third-party controllers have really stepped up. You can often get better quality, more durability, and stronger performance for half the price of first-party options. Meanwhile, controllers from Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft have become increasingly mediocre, expensive, fragile, and not particularly impressive across the board. What makes this especially noticeable with Nintendo is that they’re surprisingly open to third-party hardware. That openness ends up highlighting just how much better the alternatives are.

Vits8h ago

Pretty much most things by half a dozen of chinese manufactures. Like, 8bitdo, Gamesir, Machenike, Gulikit, Flydigi, Manba, EasySMX, etc.

The exception would be really low tier stuff by those companies... those wouldn't be better, they would be about the same quality. But more durable.

Themba7611h ago

Best controller I’ve ever used I even like more than my dual sense edge

UltimateOwnage3h ago(Edited 3h ago)

Having used Dual Sense, Pro Controller 1, and 8BitDo Ultimate extensively, I am pretty much in love with Pro Controller 2. The easy reassignment on the grip buttons is such a big plus, but the soft edge joysticks are the best feeling sticks of any controller I’ve ever used. It’s really an awesome controller. The HD Rumble 2 also finally has some thud and the headphone jack is great with a pair of good phones. It’s worth the slight price increase IMO.

PRIMORDUS9h ago

I have the original pro controller and TBH, I don't use it as much. I'm mostly using the Switch in handheld mode with the Hori Split Pad Compact Controller. I also never use the back buttons to program anything so I will not be buying this one here, so that will be $85.00 in my pocket 😂

Very good dev length for a AAA/AA game I'd say. Companies need to set an aim for this range. 1-2 is too little, I believe 3-4 is perfect. Any more is too much. Games don't need to be these gigantic games full of a crazy amount of content. Just make a good game.

Skate-AK1d 1h ago

Lol. Had no idea who that was, but I will admit they do look quite similar.

Greatness knows greatness. Simple as that. Expedition 33 is a masterpiece, built with a smaller team and with a smaller budget, blowing ubisoft out of the water. It doesn't matter how many devs you have and how much money you throw at it, great studios like Sandfall Interactive will always overcome you.

mastershredder16h ago(Edited 16h ago)

Ideal are you opinions being vacant from any discussion that is not about your own cringy universe Hideo.

The master of Vanity Tech Demos is here to tell us what a good game is. ooooh kay. It's pretty dang obvious without your 2 cents desperately needing relevance. This is just like his GTA grovel a while back. Yuck.

gold_drake16h ago

quite honestly, i havent been able to stop thinking about it ha.

i keep playing it

__y2jb14h ago

He’s massively overrated and writes terrible dialogue.
