Well said.
Had they put the same passion into xbox one. Who knows.........

Festano2985d ago

If it is so powerful and optimized I might sell my gaming PC and just focus on console with Scorpio and PS4 Pro (for Sony exclusives)

Eldyraen2984d ago

I won't, but the Pro and scorpio should both be plenty for most gamers including myself. Their "close enough" to pc that I'm perfectly fine with playing multiplatform on them and Scorpio will be even better (in theory).

I still like some Pc centric games so have to keep it for them... I might not upgrade as often though (which to be honest has happened less often since last gen anyways). Console power is still less than pc, but 75% of the difference in recent years has been resolution and framerate unless you directly compare them side to side (draw distance and shadows in open world games though are still a big plus--just one example).

I love that my consoles are narrowing the gap as a pc gamer too. They won't beat an enthusiast level rig but those rigs just focus on performance nowadays as 99% of games don't need that kind of power to be playable (sad but true as a pc gamer--we basically can play ultra on a much lower costing card but can't do it at insane resolutions/framerate without spending extra cash).

bluefox7552984d ago

Lol, it's nowhere near as powerful as what's currently available with PC hardware, nor does it come close in terms of available games. I would hang on to the PC, but that's just me.

Lennoxb632984d ago

Not too many people are running games at 4K with Ultra settings on their PCs. A lot of them are still struggling to get to 1080p with conslole graphics.

Bruh2984d ago

Check out DF and you'll see that it falls in between a 1070 and 1080 in performance, that was w/ FM6 with ultra settings and 4K and it had room to spare haha

Kleptic2984d ago

believe what ever you want, people...

but claiming a GPU that has been confirmed to fall in line between an AMD R9 280x and 290x...is somehow 'almost' a modern 1080 for no other reason than being in a console...I simply don't know what to say...

and that is without even touching on the cpu driving it...

Yeah, MS handed over some hardware with a single testable piece of 1st party software sharing assets with a renderer that was heavily optimized to run on an original xbox one...and then cross referencing that performance against a questionable PC port using DX12 without async compute (because 1080's still barely support that driver side, and didn't at all during the time of that testing)...I'm sure that paints the entire picture as to how more than 3 full Tflops of performance is lost between a DX12 console...and a DX12 PC...and will happen across the board...

listen to yourselves...

zb1ftw7772984d ago

PC optimisation is terrible.

So much so that in comparison videos the XB1, PS4 and PC don't look too different from each other at all.

And to me, Steam is just the same as the Android or iPhone appstore. Full of garbage.

Forget Scorpio being a Sony killer..... It's going to end up being a PC killer.

Tell me..... For most people, what can a PC offer them that Scorpio and a phone/tablet can't?

When you start to look at that question seriously, it spells out a chunk of lost PC gamer base.

modelgod2984d ago

Read my comment about PC's. They are trash!!

Greg28012984d ago

Pc has thousands of games, but please tell me which games are good? Which pc game is worth it to spend so much to play it in 4k or just in general. And no multiplatform games, only pc exclusives.
Just tell me 5 pc exclusives that are better then Sony exclusives.

Kleptic2983d ago (Edited 2983d ago )

@Greg:

I'm not talking about content. I never was. That is the problem with topics like this; console focused individuals want to talk about hardware until blue in the face, but then fall out of the conversation as soon as realistic comparisons are made against the 'claims' of how powerful a console is...and resort back to 'well, PC doesn't have any exclusives, so...' Oddly enough, this was a thread about MS's upcoming device, having nothing to do with a Sony console...and we're now derailed into how 'bad' PC is, by someone that can't fundamentally understand the notion of different tastes.

PC optimisation is a case by case basis. Some of it sucks, yes. Some of it...doesn't...No one is arguing that consoles are not more popular and readily accessible for any 'mainstream' type of game. All i was trying to point out was that the scorpio...is not some nearly GTX 1080 equipped PC...it's not, the numbers don't line up, it's not debatable, it's not correct.

As far as content and all that, entirely subjective. I'll spend 30 hours messing around with a mod update for my ancient Doom II wad and be like 'this is the greatest thing of all time'...then, somehow, also understand that maybe that opinion isn't exactly shared with everyone else that plays video games...maybe?

So flip that around...name 5 PS4 sony exclusives that are 'better' than something I can play on my PC that you can't. You can't, and you can't fundamentally because you know nothing about me. Do I like Uncharted 4 more than battlegrounds?...how would you know? Are you aware that maybe some people buy equipment to play games based on the type of games they like to play? It's not like you buy something then set up walls against what is available on other platforms claiming they're 'not as good'...it's only the additional expense isn't worth the value to some. Nothing wrong with that...but throwing around the objective nature of physical hardware, that is where the console crowd truly needs to wake up...you've been left behind about half a decade ago.

I'm on that bandwagon as well.I want to upgrade to the 1080ti but i have to get a better PSU to do..add another $80-100.Also my i5 6400 will be bottlenecking the shiz out of it so I'll be set back another $250-300 for a good processor.Your brand new rig becomes obsolete so quickly these days it's not even worth it.

XanderZane2984d ago

I'm already going to do that. Actually I don't really have a powerful gaming PC. I was going to build one a couple years ago, but after Diablo 3, Neverwinter Online & Divinity: Original Sin game to consoles, I said, "What's the point?" Most of the PC games I'll want to play will end up on PS4 Pro or Scorpio anyways.

LexHazard792984d ago

Phil said there would be exclusive PC games coming.

XanderZane2984d ago

@LexHazard79
That's true, but I'll wait and see if it's a game I'm even interested in before shelling out $1000+ to build a powerful gaming PC. The only thing I still wanted to play on PC was Star Citizen, but who knows when that will be released. The only things I was playing on PC were MMO's (Guild Wars 2, Warcraft) and RTS games (Starcraft 2).

modelgod2984d ago

PC gaming is trash! ! Those MMO'S are trash, Counter strike is trash, it's just optimal bullshit!! If you want to play a game, purchase a console. Let computers compute, that's all they're good for! !

Jojo19842983d ago

Ive considered doing the same but wit all xbox exclusives being play anywhere i will b keeping my pc n would rather soend 500 on a 1080 than a scorpio. If i didnt already have a pc tgen i would prolly go wit scorpio. I cant c any way if building a gaming rig for 500 matching the specs of tge scorpio

It's amazing how much effort MS is putting into this console. You guys need to read the full interview (Gamasutra). It's very informative. RDR2, BF2, FM7 CR3 and Destiny 2 will look amazing on Scorpio.

I find this site funny as no matter which console the fan bit supports they always move the goal post. Started with ps4 is more powerful then the x one so this is why it sells more. Xbox Scorpio has more power it needs games. From what i remember both the 360 and Xbox one had more exclusives in its 1st few years than then ps3 and ps4 but now Sony are bringing out more later in the gen.

What is interesting though is Microsoft do seem to be working with the gaming community very closely and seeing what they want as well as the developers want rather than what they want like they did with the Xbox one.

Will the Scorpio but a hit i don't know it's hard to tell ESP on sites like this as things like the psv and psvr sounded like they would be selling by the bucket load but did not yet things like kinect that got a lot of stick sold a lot so it's hard to judge.

For me it will be an interesting time over the next 18 months to see how the ps4 pro, psvr are pushed by Sony how the switch will be pushed by Nintendo and how the Xbox one and Scorpio will be pushed by Microsoft. For me it's looking like it could be a good time to be a gamer i just wish i now had more time to game.

Hopefully it's as good as they're saying. Of course it's very PR to say how good and how far it's beating expectations, but we need to see something concrete.

You got downvotes by pathetic gamers for feeling hopeful about good games coming out next year. Imagine how small your brain must be to downvote someone excited for future gaming joy? It is pretty neat to see people's world view blow up in front of them as they realize Microsoft has put themselves in a driver's seat that Sony hasn't been able to touch all generation.... What's even more pathetic is the same people downvoting you are the same people wishlisting Microsoft games on their ps5s 😂

derek1d 20h ago

RaidenBlack1d 16h ago

NGL, next year might be one of the best years in gaming ... starting off with RE9 and GTA VI ...
and then all the good games that's been cooking
Pragmata, Sands of Time, Saros, Gears E-Day, 007 First Light, Blood of Dawnwalker,
Mortal Shell II, Onimusha, Marvel1943: Rise of Hydra
current-gen only Infinity Ward's CoD, Duskbloods
+ My guess: Wolverine, Exodus, Mudang, Crimson Desert, Clockwork etc ...
~ seems like it might get too stacked

1Victor1d 14h ago

@rokos:”Hopefully “
I downvoted you not for been hopeful but because I have seen the same “NEXT YEAR WILL BE SPECIAL “ comment for the last 10+ and hasn’t seen anything special from Microsoft.
I hope next year will be the one that everyone been waiting for since the last 3 years of the Xbox 360, it have to be after over $80 billions spent on acquisitions.

Lightning771d 14h ago

So the new excuse is they don't count because it's from the ABK now huh. I guess all those 3rd party games count even less because they don't own them. According to your always crappy logic.

InUrFoxHole1d 5h ago

Lol. You haven't seen anything special? Do you even game?

OtterX2d ago

Always with the "next year..."! 😂

neutralgamer19922d ago

I don't know they have delivered this year and even last year. And they have a lot more content in the pipeline right now than anyone else. We can't just keep hating on MS

Indiana Jones
South of midnight
Avowed
Flight simulator
Hell Blade 2
Minecraft update
Gears of war reloaded
Indian Jones:expansion
Gears E day
Clockwork revolution
Fable
Doom the dark ages
The outer worlds 2
Grounded 2
Call of duty

OtterX2d ago

How many of those titles were just buyouts of companies that were going about making their games anyways? *Throws cash - "Oh look what we made!"

dveio2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

This list, that's been posted again, and again, and again in every single topic like this, contains almost nothing, literally almost nothing from Microsoft's own creational thoughtprocess.

It's a bunch of former 3rd party IPs.

Now even slowly returning to Playstation in some cases like Indiana, Hellblade, probably Starfield soon too, after they were made exclusively to Xbox on purpose.

Due to Microsoft's lack for own IP material except Halo & Forza. Which, the lack of, was the sole reason for all of it to happen in the first place anyway. Please don't pretend it wasn't.

And just look at all the games that come from Obsidian alone.

You really think Obsidian wasn't already working on Avowed and South of Midnight even without Microsoft buying Zenimax?

Microsoft delivered nothing but cheques.

OtterX2d ago (Edited 2d ago )

@dveio THIS. Lol, this dude thinks Call of Duty wouldn't exist without Microsoft! smh 😂

neutralgamer19922d ago (Edited 2d ago )

Common narrative I see often — that Microsoft shouldn’t get credit for the games its studios release because they “just bought them.” But this viewpoint ignores key context and sets a double standard that other platform holders aren’t held to

No one is saying these games wouldn't exist at all without Microsoft. But let’s not pretend that having a trillion-dollar company backing a studio doesn’t make a massive difference. Obsidian never had AAA funding before the Xbox acquisition. Pillars of Eternity was crowdfunded, and their resources were always stretched thin. Now they’re working on Avowed, with proper support behind it.

Ninja Theory’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice was made by around 20 people, using borrowed equipment and doing mocap in a boardroom. It was a passion project held together by tape and willpower. Today, Hellblade II exists because they were given resources, time, and freedom — something many developers don’t get unless they’re owned by a company that believes in their vision.

ZeniMax (Bethesda’s parent company) was in real financial trouble before the Microsoft acquisition. Reports and insider accounts have pointed out how much they needed a cash infusion. And while some people want to write off Xbox’s ownership of Bethesda titles, they forget the alternative could have meant layoffs or even closures.

The same goes for Activision Blizzard. Would you really prefer the company to stay under Bobby Kotick, after all the documented workplace misconduct and toxic leadership issues? Say what you want about Microsoft, but their acquisition brought accountability and change to a company that desperately needed it.

At the same time, Xbox gets hated on for doing what every major company does. Sony bought Housemarque, Bluepoint, Insomniac — but no one says Spider-Man 2 “doesn’t count” because of that. Why does Xbox get treated differently for acquiring struggling or undervalued developers and giving them a chance to thrive?

And the idea that Xbox locks games away is outdated. They're pushing cross-platform releases, cloud gaming, Game Pass, and backward compatibility more than any other platform holder. They're not forcing all studios into live service. If anything, their upcoming lineup is less GAAS-heavy and more focused on narrative and creativity — Avowed, South of Midnight, Clockwork Revolution, Fable, Perfect Dark, Towerborne, and others show real variety.

Whether people like it or not, Xbox is now the biggest publisher in the industry and owns the most gaming IPs. But what matters more is how they treat their studios. Most of these teams were previously stuck making AA games with limited scope — now they’re getting the tools and support to aim higher.

So when people say “Microsoft didn’t make those games,” they’re missing the point. It’s not about who started the studio — it’s about who enabled them to do their best work. You don’t have to love Xbox to admit they’ve helped a lot of developers and are taking a player-first approach.

Instead of writing off everything they do, maybe try recognizing the good they’re doing for both devs and gamers. At the end of the day, we should want more studios to succeed — no matter who owns them

BeHunted1d 23h ago

I'm surprised Clockwork Revolution (BioShock meets Dishonored) isn't getting more media attention. The game looks interesting and reminds me of the old RPG games.

anast1d 22h ago

The only good game on that list is Flight sim. The rest are either average or will be average. It's not a good look for MS.

TheEroica1d 22h ago

My god.... Look how many comments are upset about microsoft's successes... 😂 This may be my new favorite thread. Not one gamer saying thanks for all the goodness coming their way, just bitter anger and downvoting the very games they themselves will purchase throughout 2026.... Sony really worked you guys over this generation.... Condolences.

DivineHand1251d 21h ago

@neutralgamer1992 You said what needed to be said.

I have heard for years from older gamers that fanboys are the biggest issue with any fanbase. They will defend or gloss over negative news as long as the correct logo is on the box and they bash the competing platform no matter how much good they are trying to bring.

Right now their advocacy for PlayStation is elevating that platform so high that Sony no longer believes they need to do anything to satisfy their loyal fanbase like they did in the PS4 days.

I just hope most of them will eventually start advocating for themselves and encourage others to do the same. No one should blindly support one platform because these companies do not care about anything other than profit.

neutralgamer19921d 21h ago

Hunted

And first proper game done by the studio with proper AAA budget and saying it will be released when ready

Anast

I believe we went through this before that you are objectively wrong. Meta critic, user reviews, game sales. In Playstation top 10 best selling games were 5 from Microsoft studios

Otter

No this dude is saying so many other studios wouldn't be thriving without MS money and people would be getting abused physically and mentally with Bobby kotick and his side kicks

Also maybe look up how the original founder of Bethesda and zenimax was kicked out of his own company by his best friend lawyer. So that was always a shady place and had been struggling financially before MS paid a premium of almost 7 billion

Eroica

I use to be a die hard Playstation fan and now I only have a Pc. I see how these fans are so toxic. They just can't handle any positive news regarding Xbox. When the best selling games on playstation are Xbox titles. Look at Forza horizon being best seller and that's years old game by MS. I guess ms don't deserve credit for that success too since they are the only company in gaming making acquisitions

Forget the fact Sony paid 3.6 billion for bungie and MS 6.9 for zenimax. Which investment has turned out better

Destiny and marathon with a lot of controversy

While zenimax output is nothing short of amazing compared to what bungie has released

crazyCoconuts1d 21h ago

Yeah it's tricky. "Xbox" has morphed to mean different things to different people.
Console, now Windows, GamePass, and the cross platform games. There's a mix of attitudes towards all those things individually, and maybe an overarching attitude towards MS. But can't argue that the game companies MS recently bought continue to flourish, and GamePass PC has been a great value over the last year.

They've had good output so far. So waiting for those games shouldn't be a problem.

Who cares if they're buy outs of companies or whatever excuse you want to make. They're games that are being distributed to other console. Play the games and enjoy it instead of fanboying or complaining.
