Nintendo Switch may use 4GB LPDDR4 1600MHz RAM

Recent Switch teardowns show off the handheld-console hybrid's RAM memory, and it looks like that memory has been identified as 2x Samsung 2GB LPDDR4 RAM modules clocked at 1600MHz.

The hybrid handheld/home console experience Nintendo is bringing us here with the Switch looks indeed the future. Expect Sony and/or Microsoft to do what they usually do, that is copy Nintendo's idea (badly)...see PS Move and Kinect. Personally I'd prefer Sony/Microsoft to stick to what their good at and those Nintendo trolls to wind it in and allow Nintendo to offer it's own unique experiences.

Nah, the gameboy player came before the PSP go , that allowed us to dock our gba games an play em on the telly.

The Game Boy Player was not a handheld that you could out to the television.....

In fact the only example of something similar to the Gameboy player would possibly be the PlayStation TV that basically is the PlayStation Vita but as Standalone console.

What the Nintendo switch actually is , is what the PSP cradle was for the PSP 2000 3000 and PSP Go.

A dock that allows you to out to the television and charge the handheld.

The Game Boy Player is not a handheld I know I've owned all of them even the GameCube one.

I actually also own a PlayStation TV and I'm telling you right now those are actually not the same thing in comparison to the Cradle or the switch.

Sony and Microsoft gives us consoles that has hardware worth paying for and it has 3rd party support that last throughout the consoles life cycle and it doesn't stop after the first 12 months.

I was expecting 2133mhz LPDDR4 but maybe dim timing is important and that`s why they use low latency 1600mhz LPDDR4. And by the way Nintendo Switch game loading really fast. Means memory controller and memory modules doing well.

Someone benchmarked the Switch supposedly. Based on the benchmark, the performance is roughly 2X the Wii U in handheld mode and 3X Wii U when docked. Not bad at all considering the hybrid nature of the machine.

I like how easy it looks to repair. iFixit will give it a nice review in that regards. I'll of course play all my games on PC that aren't exclusive to my PS4 Pro and Switch, but I'm betting I play 10 or more great games on the Switch before the end of 2018. Cannot wait!

Saying what Nintendo is doing with the Switch is akin to what Sony did with the PSP...you may as well say Nintendo copied what Sony did with it's PS Eye with the Wii. Nintendo trolls throw around the term 'gimmick' a lot, well, PS Eye and PSP (for example) could be the definition of said term. Difference being with Nintendo they create the software/experiences to back up any hardware over a sustained period AND evolve it. Important differential.
