YES!!!! So glad for this game, love it when a new IP that is also good gets the attention it deserves (and the sales).

bouzebbal2632d ago

Amazing !some shops don't even wanna take risks with some games like this one

LexHazard792632d ago

Yeah yours is good. Overloads gif is too boring for this news.

XanderZane2632d ago

Yup.. going to get my copy right now.

XanderZane2632d ago (Edited 2632d ago )

Playing now. How you get out of this damn castle? lol!! Going around in a circles. Who's the hooded guy behind the door I can't unlock? Great game.

Letthewookiewin2632d ago

I don't know haven't played it yet! Haha

trooper_2632d ago

Not impressive if they had such a small supply. Bestbuys in Los Angeles only received about 1-4 copies each and those were all preorders. I really wanted a copy but it sucks that barely any vopies were sent out.

Sparta072631d ago

" Bestbuys in Los Angeles only received about 1-4 copies each and those were all preorders. "
😂😂
What!? Why on earth would they only get 1-4 copies? Lmao
That's not how it works. They would order a bunch and go from there.
Thanks for the laugh. 🤣

zombiewombie2631d ago

@Sparta07 Thats exactly what they did. I have a buddy that works at a bestbuy warehouse and I asked a manager at my local bestbuy. He told me what every store got around the area. Your sarcastic question is exactly what I asked except without the sarcasm. Thats what they received.

But but this is a niche game...

DiceAndRice2633d ago

It's crazy to see these so called "niche" games do so well.

XanderZane2632d ago

There a lot of great niche games though. They don't need to sell 5-10 million for them to be good and worth playing. NiOh is a great game. It's pretty deep. Wasn't expecting crafting materials. It wasn't even mentioned in the online instructions.

Wallstreet372632d ago

Demon Souls was niche and look how that turned out. BLOODBORNE alone on one console sold more than 3 million at this point and all Souls games are popular now.

Its really great for gamers. To think years ago i didnt know what Demon Souls was went to neogaf, started reading word of mouth and bought it for 10 dollars on Amazon lol Since the one of my favotite series of all time.

freshslicepizza2632d ago

lots of people promoted demons souls and it was one of the reasons why i bought it. positive word of mouth and the way social media plays into things now are vital. plus having great reviews also helps

VsAssassin2632d ago

Demon's Souls was an awesome game, and a good bulk of its sales success happened through word of mouth. I am going to expect another From Software + Sony partnership this year, and that a new game will be announced at E3. Demon's Souls 2 anyone?

Wallstreet372632d ago (Edited 2632d ago )

Moldy....

Yeah bro i thank gamers for spreading that word.

Vsassassin...

Even a remastered DS. Would have me ecstatic

SpinalRemains1382632d ago (Edited 2632d ago )

Demons was the best. When I first got that game there was no wiki or anything. We were guinea pigs with absolutely no direction. That game had the best community and the most enjoyable online for a long long time. It spawned a dynasty. Like the Tuck Rule game. Right, LexHazard79? 😆

rainslacker2632d ago

until dawn was a niche kind of game that also saw great sales due to strong word of mouth. I never looked at the game much during it's production, because I thought it was just some sort of cheesy horror game in the vein of Silent Hill or similar games, which have never been a huge favorite of mine(although I accept they're popular among others), but word of mouth made me try it, and it's one of my favorite games this gen....in a genre I care very little about(horror).

It's funny how the only difference between niche and popular is simply a matter of discovery. Things like Angry Birds or Candy Crush could have bombed big time, while any number of other games with the same premise, or even the exact same game play, could have hit it big. The only difference, word of mouth, and social awareness that the game existed and may appeal to someone.

madforaday2632d ago

I will never forget the time my brother and his friend was talking about this game Demon Souls, an action RPG witch I never played a RPG before but the sound of the game was incredible. I never ended up beating Demon Souls but boy oh boy did I destroy Dark Soul 1 and later ones. It is just incredible what a game can do that no one expected, I just think about a modern day shooter or action adventure game that is similar to Dark Souls (not in setting but concept).

Chaos_Order2632d ago

I think a lot of gamers nowadays are much more savvy when it comes to their purchases. Back in the day it wasn't unheard of for people to buy a game based on an advert they saw once, or the cool-looking box art. Today, gamers have such a breadth of information on the internet, and social media makes it easy for word of mouth to spread. This is exactly how Demon's Souls went from a dead-on-arrival oddity, destined to be forgotten, to spawning one of the most well known series in the gaming industry.

Seraphim2632d ago

I don't think you can call Souls games or even Nioh Niche anymore. While it's not a game for casuals or all it's above what should be considered niche. I'd hate to go as far to call it mainstream but these games kind of are now.

As others have said, Demon's Souls was niche. So much so that a good portion of gamers who were interested actually ordered the English, Hong Kong version knowing that Sony would not publish it stateside. I did and I know many others did as well. Even with Atlus later announcing the rights to publish in the US it was somewhat niche to but over time Dark Souls, Dark Souls II, Bloodborne and games like it now, such as Nioh are no longer niche.

So did Yakuza 0 which is another very niche game, I wonder how much stock they actually had for each game

masterfox2633d ago

holy damn !, thats great news!, I hope other developers and publishers acknowledge this and start creating more new IPs.

WelcomeToTheFamily2632d ago

Sounds like they did not send many copies out though.

LexHazard792632d ago

Your probably right because you can find it everywhere else.

DeadlyOreo2632d ago (Edited 2632d ago )

Trolls above 😂

Go play your Xbox exclusives. Oh wait...

Sparta072631d ago

Says who? You have a link or just making stuff up?

WelcomeToTheFamily2631d ago (Edited 2631d ago )

@LexHazard79 & @Sparta07, I clearly said it sounds like it.(aka maybe) I never said anything about it being a fact.

@DeadlyOreo, Assuming I'm a xbox fanboy is idiotic, although I guess u are with a name as stupid as that. My point is I'm not trolling just being honest. Now who is the fanboy pfft sheep.

The Nioh franchise has sold over 6 million copies worldwide

Team Ninja: "The Nioh franchise has sold over 6 million copies worldwide now!"

FallenAngel1984957d ago

At 6 million NiOh is on the cusp of nearly outselling Ninja Gaiden’s 6.8 million with just only 2 titles under its belt

This could mean Team Ninja may see no reason to return to producing new NG games

CaptainHenry916956d ago

But what if a new Ninja Gaiden sells well?

FallenAngel1984956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

The latest Ninja Gaiden: Master Collection had sold 240,000 units worldwide at last count

Unfortunately that may not be as high enough a number to convince Team Ninja to also commit to continuing Ninja Gaiden alongside Dead or Alive and NiOh.

And when they aren’t working on those they’re focused on licensed properties like Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order and Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin.

I wish I were wrong but that may be how Tecmo Koei sees it. Hopefully they prove me wrong and produce Ninja Gaiden 4 at some point

Yi-Long956d ago

To be fair, does anyone still trust Team Ninja with Ninja Gaiden*?

Let’s be honest here, it was Itagaki who created Ninja Gaiden greatness, with NG1, NG Black (improved version of NG1), and Ninja Gaiden 2.

The Sigma versions of 1 & 2, done without Itagaki, while decent/good, never lived up to the originals, and NG3 was a mess.

And they half-assed the collection, so many huge fans of the series never bothered picking that up.

I’d be excited if Itagaki would announce a return to the action ninja genre. If Team Ninja would announce a NG4, I’d be skeptical.

To be fair, Team Ninja DID show they’re still capable of releasing greatness with the Nioh games, but with Ninja Gaiden, without Itagaki, they have never been able to reach the quality of NG Black again.

(* … does anyone still trust them with the DOA games, for that matter … !? )

deadfrag956d ago (Edited 956d ago )

Things are not seen from that stand point.Ninja Gaiden Never had a game produced for PS4 or Xbox One from the ground up.Nioh sold 6 milion because exposure and Marketing are way bigger this days than they were on PS3 and Xbox 360 generation. The Ninja Gaiden collection was never going to sell much since theres nothing new on them, this collection is actually worse to what was already available on Xbox 360 and can be play by BC on any Xbox One console.Ninja Gaiden needs a new game that shows new stuff and that gets backed in the marketing like Nioh. This collection games have already been played by anyone that likes Ninja Gaiden years ago it didnt bring nothing new to the table it was obvious that it would not sell very well.

ocelot07956d ago

That's great and it's now free on the epic game store.

FinalFantasyFanatic956d ago

I just picked it up a couple of hours ago, it was a nice surprise to see it there.

jznrpg956d ago

Well made games glad they did well .

Brazz956d ago

they deserve this, Nioh is a amazing game. Hopefully they will expand and make a more ambitious game and have even more sales.

northpaws1087d ago

Talking about Goku, I used to like him a lot, but he just became a selfish jerk that only want to fight and left his family behind to rot lol, at least we see Vegeta spent some time with family here and there lol

Teflon021086d ago

Goku's far from selfish. He's just an idiot with an addition.
Also Dragon Ball Z starts with Piccolo basically being Gohan's dad. Not sure how these things became a realization in 2021 lmao

Germaximus1087d ago

PS Now additions have been rocking for quite awhile now.

iwin861087d ago

Street Of Rage 4 is awesome. Big recommendation.

RosweeSon1086d ago

Just bought physical 😏🤷🏻‍♂️ 🤣 does look great tho.

1087d ago
LucasRuinedChildhood1087d ago

Nioh was given out on PS Plus around a year ago (most people who have PS Now also have PS Plus) and Jump Force is not particularly good. There's a big gap in quality between PS Plus and PS Now.

Teflon021086d ago

Streets of Rage is a fantastic game. Didn't know about Nioh though. I don't think I have it. Though I'd rather play the ps5 version in the future

Petebloodyonion1086d ago

Streets of Rage 4 is a must-play title if you like beat em up.
Also, not everyone has PS+ so Nioh is still a good game.
