Yeah, the Vita didn't get the exclusives like what the PSP got. There were no big name exclusives like MGS and GTA and whole lot of other gems which the PSP got aplenty.

But the PSP was out when there were many smaller studios still making games unlike right now where only the bigger ones are left and either that or just indies which is a very unfortunate situation for a handheld. The competition from smartphones is the biggest challenge right now which was not huge when the PSP was around too and apparently handhelds are losing big time. I said handhelds because apparently the 3DS is severely affected too. It's undeniably selling better than the Vita but still, its presence is not as prevalent as the DS was during its time. It's clear that the 3DS won't do DS's numbers.

Handheld is still big in Japan but elsewhere, it's a shrinking market. It's a shame because these handhelds especially the Vita is capable of so much more than their predecessors but no one is willing to exploit all those potentials.

I am still hoping PSVITA Pro while the Slim drop the price hard for $75-100 and drop the price for all memory card 50% off. Also put GTA with classic multiplayer and another COD(Quality Cod) a better multiplayer , it will sell like hotcakes. But PlayStation is greedy and ignore the fanbase that it impossible for that to happen and blame it on Yoshida.

But if you're looking for interesting, engaging games from well known developers than it has been dead for a long time.

That's closer to happening for Nintendo but I think a lot of people realize.

Them losing 190 million Gamers is a huge deal regardless of how anyone tries to spin it. The fact that the switch is both a handheld and their answer to a console very much shows they have no interest in creating two pieces of Hardware based on their previous losses.

If they are ready to stop creating dedicated consoles based on what we see from the switch what happens when creating any hardware isn't enough at all? If the switch fails I very much can see Nintendo simply becoming a software developer primarily.

So I definitely see a reality were Sony creates the hardware, Nintendo licenses it out, everyone wins.

Or more realistically it could be a possibility of Nintendo simply just be coming a software company primarily and simply just creating titles for mobile Playstation Xbox and PC iOS etc.

If Sony did the hardware and Nintendo simply created the software.

I think it would make lots of sense if Sony put some of their franchises on a Nintendo handheld simply because if they created the hardware they would still be getting profit from the sales as well as an established user base.

Nintendo would in turn have solid Reliable Hardware as well as infrastructure support from something like PlayStation Network.

I think it's something that could definitely work out for both companies.

Japan isn't the world though. Its selling poorly outside of Japan. Kinda selling in Japan isn't saying much especially when I think back to how well the PSP sold there. Sony isn't touting anything on the Vita sales or otherwise anymore. They touted it years ago when they marketed the Vita as a companion device to the PS3 and eventually the PS4 but when they didn't see a drastic change they went all in on the PS4 instead. Remote play at half the FPS isn't a selling point for most people. Its dead otherwise they would be promoting the hell out of it for the holidays.

I just bought Zero Escape Zero Time Dilemma from the PSN Sale. I've played a few hours of the first one and that was enough for me to make this purchase. The last game before this I got Xcom. Other than some purchases from year 1 and maybe year 2(when did Lumines come out?) this was the first time I bought any vita games since. A lot of my games were free on PS+.

I had one... I only ever used it for Rayman and Impossible Game. Got rid of it because it used way too many gimmicks in it's games. I don't wanna use the back touch pad, I don't wanna pretend I'm dusting off an artifact. Also, the thumb sticks were way too close to the edge of the sides so it put my thumbs in an awkward uncomfortable position.

My Vita died when they stopped making games like Uncharted, Madden, Killzone, Ninja Gaiden, and it became home to mostly phone and Indie type of games, which I have zero interest in.

I love the tech behind it and I have my complete PSP collection on it and the games like Uncharted, I love, so it has value to me. When they finally put it to bed I am hoping to use it as a portable 8 and 16 bit console, hopefully, Sony will reduce the homebrew restrictions.

Sony IMO are at the forefront when it comes to designing gaming hardware they really do create great gaming systems pushing great tech and new media formats, just like I believe Nintendo are great when it comes to creating software for gaming on portable devices, I guess what I'm trying to say is, in a perfect world we could have the best of both hardware/software come together.., its a real shame that such a beautiful and powerful piece of kit IMO has come nowhere close in reaching its full potential.

I must have 150+ Vita games from PS+ over the years and the best indies titles you can name suit being played on a handheld more than they do a big screen.
