Console Vs PC: Neither is Better, Here Are The Facts

Completely agree that its all about preference. The problem is that stone cold facts about either side will always be argued upon to justify their purchase albeit logical or illogical when compared to the truth. For example, one of the reasons I've sided recently to PC because I see no reason why I should pay extra for play online multiplayer yet tons of people online will try to flay you alive for making that decision. The only time I think an argument is warranted for anyone's decision is if it has a high chance of affecting other people either for the short term or in the long run.

Well there's two sides to this discussion. We can talk about the objective qualities of a platform and that's fine, but ultimately people differ in the value they place on those attributes.

What I see constantly, though, that drives me crazy is that people will downplay the PC on subjective grounds but they somehow don't apply that to other console platforms. It's as if they think they can dismiss the PC offhand, because, hey, "it's all a matter of taste", but then they turn around and act like their favorite console is superior and it's just a fact. They basically shove their opinion down other people's throats in a very antagonistic way.

But if it's ok for them to not game on PC due to "preference" or "taste" then it's equally ok for people to prefer a different console platform than they do. A lot of people in our community have a real problem with this and that's why I'm addressing it.

@steven83r I dont care how good a game looks.I dont like witcher 3,i like 1,2.Sligthly better visual is comparing same resolution,with 2-3 effects missing.4k fps ulta+reshade+mods =/= 900/1080 30fps lower than pc settings(witcher 3),normal textures.I have 624 games worth 880 euro.Planescape torment,along many other pc games wow me for 17 years now.I can name all the 92 strategy games.A console dosent add up to a software engineer.

And yet you can't name 10 games on PC that are not on Console that are not MMO and look like the Witcher and are no older than 2015. PC gets no games. I am still waiting for a game to wow me on my $1700 PC. Sure PC would give me more fluid gaming and slightly better visuals in some cases. But whats the trade up...1 game worth buying at full price each year?

Like i said still hard to justify the $1500+ for a PC to play Witcher with MODS. Developers prefer Console all day. And the things they are doing with that so called limited tech is amazing. I was only talking about the front end being infinitely better on consoles (which it is). The whole experience is tuned to gaming, whereas PC is Google, email, word processing etc when you load up, it takes away from the immersion.

Can I ask why the number of games you own changes every time you write it down? I expect your specs do too.

i cant play at 30 fps.it kills immersion,gameplay,graphics,at mosphere.Last time i played at 30 fps was 2006 for bfme2,and i unlocked it.I purchuse games every second week,or if i see a good discount,so now i am at 624,with the latest been Captain Forever Remix,Hearts of Iron 4,Homeworld Deserts of Kharak,Darkest Dungeon,Deus Ex Mankind Divided,Starbound,Inside.I dont wait 50% off games,30% is enough for good ones.Windows takes 2,1 gb out of my 32gb ram and my old laptop 700mb out of 4.My specs will go higher if the 1080ti is titan xp performance and overclock ability,or i will stay with 1080s until the next nvidia gpus.I call peasant the 2012 mid range tech inside your consoles.I was at 8 tflop,end of 2011,cf 7970 ghz edition,i5 2500k 4,4 ghz.Last,pc isnt google.Pc is video editing,3d software,photoshop,working,rea ding and many many other things.Word processing i learned at 9.What you listed,shows that you are pc ignorant,and premature in the pc world.Thats why there are more than 3 billion computers(java) and more than 700 million pc gamers(intel).Consoles are just overall very very low end pcs.

You twat, I've built over 30 custom PC's for people over the years. I work in film production with computers that would blow anything you've ever dreamed about out of the water.

I 've always played both, but use my console a lot more nowadays. I was trying to tell you why I prefer consoles, but you aren't smart enough to listen without becoming deranged and throwing out insults.

Enjoy your 624, 621, 598 PC games on your 12 Tflops, 8 Tflops, 2 Tflops system.

All PC's trace their roots to word processors (that's why I said it). I'm glad you are aware of the many, many different utilitarian uses of a PC, it's part of what makes them so bloated and unfocussed when it comes to gaming.

I have build over 500 pcs,since i was a teen,for friends and customers.How is my pc bloated when the only pragram that stars is classic shell???Use glary utilities to limit starting programs.I have seen computers with double xeon and sli m6000,over 40.000$ pcs for 3d editing.Again,clean your pc with malwarebytes antiwalware if you have any viruses.Dont ever use any antivirus program.I personally wont ever own a console,since it offers nothing in comparison to a pc.Dosent a console uses at least 3gb ram for its os???Seems consoles are much more bloated than pcs.i will now play any of my 625 games,new being master of orion,even though 3 was a bigger dissapointment than dragon age 2+skyrim,with my sli evga 1080s,5820k 4,2 ghz and 32 gb ram.Have a nice day.

Oh dear lord, its not about the graphics, its about the games. Ofc everything looks nicer on pc and you get 60fps, but it doesnt make all console games shit. If you really feel that you cant play console games just because of graphics or fps, its your loss and I feel sorry for you. I will be playing variety of games that you will never experience. I dont care how much the console games cost when compared to steam, if it is a good game and it has content, then its worth the price. Consoles are for mass markets, they are convenient and not that expensive. You can shout all you want from your ivory tower, games without 4k and 60 can still be great and worthwhile.

Keyboard and mouse you can get second hand for 2 dollars a pop tops. After finishing installing you can use freeware to control your OS with a controller or your smartphone, just as you would on a console.

The free online, the unlimited control options (someone beat Dark Souls with those Donkey Kong drums), cheaper games (the initial startup for PC can be cheaper if you shop around for parts and don't stick to one storefront), freedom in general. No one owns my PC except for me and I'm willing to bet if Steam for example went Activision on us, finding an alternative wouldn't be too hard. We would still have GoG, uPlay, Origin. PC's like a platform that hosts multiple platforms.

Each to their own, I've always tried to cover my bases and have both, console for exclusives mainly and PC for everything else.

Amusing of late though to see people who downplayed PC for its need to upgrade (individual components as and when) compared to a consoles longevity are now seemingly happy to buy a completely 'new' system when in fact only the odd component is different.

Agreed, I've always been an PC and PlayStation player for as long I've been gaming. I feel the natural path for the harder-core gamer is always towards PC. Every friend of mine who still games regularly does so on PC these days. Even the ones who grew up with nothing but an Xbox.

If you're even remotely enthusiastic about technology and gaming, you're going to want the most out of your gaming experience, and custom hardware is the answer to that. The amount of flexibility that the PC platform offers these days is incredible.
