I have a feeling this might end up being my fav game of the year,it looks very promising. I love new orleans as a setting.

IndominusRex2943d ago

I dont know if i should get this or watch dogs 2. Haven't played any previous game(s) in both series before.

Movefasta19932943d ago

I haven't played watch dogs but Mafia 2 is awesome and i heard great things about the first game.I say go for Mafia. But WD2 looks good too,i'll try that out too one day but after mafia 3.

IndominusRex2943d ago

oh ok... I have played the godfather 2 on 360 some time ago, is it similar to mafia?

Movefasta19932943d ago

i haven't played Godfather 2.

RedDevils2942d ago

Yeah, it's similar but story are more richer in Mafia game, if you have time to tried the first game.

Forn2943d ago

I hate hearing about dlc before a game releases...

Psychotica2943d ago

No different than buying a new car that has all kinds of options not included or a pizza with the variety of toppings.

hiredhelp2943d ago

That attitude that has made dlc the norm.

@hiredhelp

I know it's the norm in the videogame community to automatically hate on DLC, but honestly I've never understood this thinking.

I've never felt harmed by the existence of DLC one way or the other. If it's something I think I'll like I buy it, otherwise I just ignore it.

I don't see how people can claim DLC is content cut from a game. That's so arbitrary. Unless we come up with a standard length that all $60 games must abide by we don't really have any parameter by which to judge such things. A game can be 50 hours long or 6 hours long and be priced at $60 either way. So it's always up to the individual to decide whether a game is worth spending his/her money on. Why is it any different with DLC?

A game like Mafia 3 might take something like 40 hours to complete. Who cares if they also plan some DLC for the game? The question is, does the game appeal to you enough that you want to part with $60? If yes, get it. If no, don't get it. Same goes for the game's DLC.

Nobody is holding a gun to your head. Creators of goods set the prices for their wares and we as consumers can decide to buy them at those prices or not.

Agreed.
I don't want to know that a dev is even THINKING about dlc before the game's even been released because all it tells me is that shit has either been held back from the game or cut out of it so they can sell it to me later for even more money.
NOTE TO DEVS: if you've done either of the above, stfu about it until your game is out because hearing you tell me about how you're about to f*ck me just makes me hate you.

LucasRuinedChildhood2943d ago

I'm feeling confident that both this and Watch_Dogs 2 will turn out well.

cfc832943d ago

If i had to pick one just now, i think i'd go for mafia 3.

--bienio--2943d ago

I got the same feeling :) Anyway I'm getting both games!

hiredhelp2943d ago (Edited 2942d ago )

Thx for decent response starchild.
Firstly I hate DLC its the buisness practice about it maps cosmetics guns skins characters... Now be wrapped up into neat tidey season pass which starting to reach price if a stand alone game.. (Its wrong)
Now if you talking of decent DLC take whitcher series ok campaigns that im ok with.. Not episodic crap like hitman where they create the game release it in parts while you buy it.
However when its expanding the singleplayer game my day this was called Expansion packs this was ok you got good deal long hours basiclly like another game again.
We pay good money for games for years years everybody was happy.
We no forced dlc no subscriptions everyone was happy now the buisness is soo huge big greedy stinking corporate body's demand more money but offer you for most part less.
Its sad shame we in this era as i don't see it changing thx for your reply starchild good see some the old n4gs still around.
Before i go I will be buying mafia base game as just like mafia games...

Agreed....game was fantastic. Especially as a person of color, I enjoyed the side missions.

Kakashi Hatake802d ago

I'm Black myself, which is different from Lincoln who is bi racial. (It's trendy to ignore that mixed people are half White for some reason) What would color have to do with enjoying a game like this? Imagine if people playing God of War were like "Gee, I'm enjoying playing as a White person right now". If we want others to relate to things other than skin color, we have to start setting an example as "People of Color" (That term is so stupid btw)

InklingGirl802d ago

I wonder if this comment will get removed like mine? It shouldn't but I'm just curious.

LucasRuinedChildhood802d ago (Edited 802d ago )

"What would color have to do with enjoying a game like this?"

Skin colour matters a lot in the story and setting of Mafia 3. It even affects the gameplay.

The comparison to God Of War doesn't make sense.

I'm Irish (as in, a person born in Ireland), and I'd probably enjoy a game where you can fight in the Irish War of Independence ... a bit more than the average Brit. lol. Who cares? If a British person "Imagine if ...", I'd just laugh.

LucasRuinedChildhood802d ago (Edited 802d ago )

*said "Imagine if ..."

Also, it is cool when you play an Irish character in a game who doesn't put on a leprechaun accent like Tom Cruise did. "Shannon! Tell me you like my hat!" https://youtu.be/eKrEVWGTuR...

Terry_B803d ago

nah..its mediocre and repetitive.

Demetrius802d ago (Edited 802d ago )

I played it once and it was very frustrating compared to mafia 2 I like to enjoy games not get raged all up 😂😂

XbladeTeddy802d ago

It was repetitive and boring. Not a good game at all.

Yi-Long802d ago

The game looked interesting, and from the trailers it seemed it had a great soundtrack, but the buggy release (AI) and disappointing reviews made me pass on it. No idea if they ever fixed its shortcomings post-launch.

XbladeTeddy802d ago

They could only polish a turd so much. Wasn't good at release and isn't good now.

MadLad802d ago

Weakest game in the series.

AuraAbjure802d ago

People said that about Wolfenstein:Youngblood. I played youngblood and it is a masterpiece and so awesome and entertaining and badass, with ray tracing too. Is Mafia 3 a great game on its own merit? I understand compared to the other Mafias, you feel it's weak.

MadLad799d ago

I respectfully disagree.

GTA V, Mafia, and Red Dead Redemption 2 VR mods are dead – and Take 2 Interactive killed them

From VG247: "If you’ve been enjoying either Red Dead Redemption 2, GTA V, or Mafia: The Definitive Edition in VR thanks to some handy fan-made mods, we’ve got some bad news. Thanks to a DMCA claim by Take Two Interactive - the parent company of Rockstar Games and 2K - has led development on the most popular VR mods to grind to a halt.

This news comes via Luke Ross - the sole creator of a variety of VR mods for the aforementioned games - who released a lengthy post to his supporters. In it, he claims to have received a DMCA request from Take Two Interactive for his projects and that the company requested that he “remove all their copyrighted works from [his] Patreon page”. This was confirmed by Kotaku who reached out to Patreon directly."

Orbilator805d ago

Get the mods on a torrent site and tell the world were they are.

Duke19805d ago

I mean, if he was modding a game that someone else built, and charging for it on patreon - this seems pretty cut and dry for a DMCA.

If he was not profiting from it in any way though, would be nice to let companies let this shit slide more often

Top 10 Mafia 3 Characters

KeenGamer: "Mafia 3 has a huge cast of characters - good, bad, and both - but these 10 characters were the ones who stood out the most. With Mafia 3 set in the 1960's, these characters are influenced by the ever-changing times and the people surrounding them."
