Ouch. Shame to hear it suffers from those kinds of performance issues. Hopefully they roll out a substantial day one patch.

Digital_Anomaly2809d ago

I'm seeing all these amazing review scores roll in and that's what I wanted to see too. I LOVE Deus Ex, I honestly do but to deal with the glitches I saw, I can't in good conscience recommend this until it's fixed.

The one question that is bothering me is if other reviewers didn't see or experience the same bugs I did? I'm usually a soft reviewer and fully expected people to slaughter these glitches. I'd hate to think I was just extremely unlucky in what I came across.

starrman19852809d ago

Perhaps the PC version doesn't suffer from so many of the glitches?

Digital_Anomaly2809d ago

@starrman: Yeah man, this review was on PS4 and after the 1.02 patch was installed too. I'd even be willing to revisit my overall review if the glaring bugs were fixed but in my eyes, it's still shameful to see this many bugs released to a public who has to fork over top dollar to play a game.

Unspoken2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Luckily it's just bugs and glitches that can be fixed, instead of core game play and story, which can't. Human Revolution was a great play through on PC, hoping the for the same here.

Bansai2808d ago

I've been playing for 10 hours since yesterday and literally no bug, glitch or even a heavy framerate drop.

CorndogBurglar2808d ago

You have to understand that it is incredibly suspect that you are the only one claiming any of these things.

I understand that some reviewers have been paid off or may not give truthful reviews for various reasons, but when literally every review is much higher than this and none make any mentions of glitches, it makes you look like the one that needs to be questioned.

Kingthrash3602808d ago

I've had it for 2 days now ..played it extinsively...haven't ran into any glitches ...this is a bs article imo.
I'll admit Im a fan of the game but I'm the type of fan who would be pissed if it were put together badly.....like how I'm a nba2k fan and I refuse to play it because of glitches and bad animations. I've seen nothing like that In this game.

FamilyGuy2808d ago

Maybe you should uninstall the game and the patch an reinstall them fresh. Maybe something happened that caused it to act up for you. I know it's time consuming but I would really look into this because you definitely seem to be in the minority when it comes to this game having tons of bugs and glitches.

ChiefQueef2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

first of all, being a reviewer that is active on n4g is unprofessional. it would also hurt the credibility of the employer but since its clearly a hobby website.. whatever. I read the article for fun and its alright i guess except for the part about the clerks not attacking you if you steal their stuff, its not a glitch, it was like that in the last game. The sneak options is probably an option that didnt make it to the final version but the visual was already done, or maybe its because you now know that if you need to flee, there is always an exit through the store's back. so its either something cut in the AI or something you didnt get. It wasnt worth an entire paragraph really.

Check if your system is overheating or reinstall. people did not have so many issues even before the patch. If you dont like the game, make your point and be decisive about it you beautiful smooth reviewer.

also people who claim publishers pay websites for good reviews are full of crap, There are bigger things in play. Its ad placement and good relationship (free trips for previews and such) for the bigger ones and for the smaller ones like COG its getting a copy of the game for free. it doesnt buy them a 80% or 90% score. it just gives them a 68% instead of a 50% out of politeness. Its just courtesy aaaand politics. mostly politics. It doesnt matter much really because kids will spit on whatever is below 80 anyway without even playing it. theyll even spend hours here pissing on games they never played.

InMyOpinion2808d ago

Haven't they already announced a 4gb day 1 patch? Probably fixes most issues.

corroios2809d ago

How come is getting so good reviews with so many glitch?

Digital_Anomaly2809d ago

Great question! I fully document the glitches I came across in the review too. That's why I'm left wondering if the glitches were given a pass or if I just had bad luck. If there's one thing I'm sure of it's that quite often there's a media hive mind and review scores are made almost before the game is released but the 9 and 10 scores genuinely surprised me.

chris2352808d ago

people get paid money for high review scores in spite of the product being buggy - with the intention to sell a few more copies. does this really come as asurprise to anyone? the alarm bells rang already when a few days ago the first review with a 9.5 was to be found. for me a sign that it's not better than a 6/10.

Notellin2808d ago

I've played for roughly 5-7 hours on Xbox one. Didn't experience anything you mentioned. Almost all the ps4 reviews I've came across praised it for not launching with technical issues which has been the standard lately. I can't read what you experienced (at work) but sounds like you are in the minority so far anyways.

starchild2808d ago

Sensitivity and perceptiveness varies greatly from individual to individual.

For example, the frame pacing stutters in Bloodborne were blatantly obvious to me and seriously detracted from the game, but others didn't seem to notice or care that much and plenty of high scores were handed out despite that glaring issue.

Kingthrash3602808d ago

I have it, no glitches...I'll broadcast it right now and show you that this is a click baited article.....things like this is why i don't trust gaming media.

rainslacker2808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

So you're the only reviewer out there who is ethical enough to not take bribes to not mention the glitches in their review? Or are you just the only one who is not being offered any of this bribe money?

Hive mind or not, the media isn't so consolidated in their hive mind to go out of their way to ignore bugs or glitches, so you are making quite the accusation, all while trying to convince others that you are trust worthy.

So what's more likely? All the reviews out there are paid off, and all the people playing it seem to be mostly issue free? Or that you are just making stuff up while trying to seem credible and reliable and ethical? The term Occam's Razor comes to mind.

Personally, been playing the game a bit today, and can say that I haven't witnessed anything near what you mention. Most of the bugs and glitches I've noticed were things that only game testers would spot, and likely got ignored because they weren't that serious. Game is seriously well made overall.

Dark_Knightmare22808d ago

Really now aren't you the white knight in shining armor who happens to be above all this supposed injustice in reviewing games thank god gamers have you to look out for them smh.

lunatic00012809d ago

It think they were playing the PC version and the console launch patch hasn't come out yet..that's my guess

starchild2808d ago

AC Unity was buggy at release, but they ironed it out with patches and it actually ended up being a really enjoyable game for me.

I do wish developers would take more care to assure a relatively bug-free experience at launch.

Gardenia2808d ago

Seems like a bullshit review. No other reviewers ever mentioned bugs or glitches. The level design and the different ways to play the objectives were the pros of this game. Clickbait article again

ITPython2808d ago

Perhaps the reviews with higher scores are actually reviewing the game (story, gameplay, characters, fun factor etc), not the technical aspect of the game.

Kratos02892809d ago

*groan*...Knee slapper of a title there...

lunatic00012809d ago

What blasphemy is this!!!!!!....I'm a little worried about this as I'm getting it on console...does that mean that the good reviews its been getting have been for the pc version???

Notellin2808d ago

No there are several reviews stating they played on PS4 and had none of these issues.

Kingthrash3602808d ago (Edited 2808d ago )

Including me I have no issues....(ps4)

lunatic00012808d ago

What about the Xbox version though..I usually get the multiplats on ps4 but my bro wants to borrow this after me and he only has an xb1 so I'm getting it on xb1...any news on how that version holds up?

rainslacker2808d ago

I've yet to experience an issue. Game is solid overall. Certainly nothing to turn one away, or down rate a game so heavily.

lunatic00012808d ago

I'm not turning away from it at all...I know it will be great

Dark_Knightmare22808d ago

Dude there's more reviews posted for the ps4 version on metacritic than there are for the pc version

BrianOBlivion2809d ago

Lamest headline I've read in a while.

LTwriting2808d ago

That's what happens when nobody websites like this make it to the front page. Aside from the handful of people who may actually trust this random blog, why on earth would anybody trust or give validity to some random dude on the net. Happens all the time, sadly.

My review of the website:

Cogconnected: Game reviews? More like some dude's spew. 2/8 - Webpage has some loading glitches with Chrome/uBlock

yeahokwhatever2808d ago

awwwwwww did you do the AI programming for this game? lol

Majister-Ludi2808d ago

Yea I don't trust it at all. No other reviews have mentioned such a glitchy experience. I need to hear this from a credible source before I believe sorry. Your headline is cringe worthy as well so good job.

The og deus ex is magical. Im also very exited about mass effect legendary edition from the gp. Its next on my playlist never played mass effect game before.

IamTylerDurden1357d ago (Edited 357d ago )

Never played ME? It's imo the greatest trilogy of all-time and perhaps the best setting outside maybe Fallout. Play it. Great DLC as well. In 2 & 3 at least. Skip Andromeda. Also, Human Revolution was great as well even if OG fans claim otherwise.

shinoff2183357d ago

Mass effect 1 was great. I feel they dumbed down alot on the 2nd one and seemed more action like. Mass effect 1 the citadel was an explorable city. Far as I got in Mass effect 2 it was reduced to a location list no traveling through it. I disliked it alot(the citadel) part. I also feel they went more action oriented then rpg

just_looken357d ago

It always makes me mad when you see something you have done in the first mass effect or dragon age can make something change in the 3rd because bioware make 6 games in what 8 years? that did this but today 0 games do this.

I wish we had trilogies today were we can share saves and have multiple endings/path's on all 3 because of choices from anyone of them.

Its so funny being the bad sheparad from one to 3 then the end having just you and joker ha ha yet everyone is like hey your a hero with a 90% casualty rate.

CBaoth357d ago

Fallout can't hold Mass Effect's jockstrap. The one Fallout even in the ballpark is 3, and that's only because the DLC was extremely good. When Ken Rolston was in Bethesda's employment were they good. That's about it. They're now the world's greatest copy/paste developer out there. Bioware at their pinnacle was ten times better a studio than Todd's team. Go look up the games

IamTylerDurden1356d ago

Mass Effect is my favorite, followed by 2 and 3. Yes, ME2 was dumbed down but also refined in terms of polish and accessibility. ME2 had an awesome story, great DLC, and a solid cast. Mordin in particular. It's a great game. Even 3 which was the weakest was still solid imo despite the ending. If u love ME how do u not enjoy all 3?

Fallout is not a better game though FO3 was great. In terms of setting though Fallout is Mt Rushmore. The 50's post apoc setting was brbrilliant. I still put ME setting n lore above but FO is up there with setting.

Miraak82 357d ago

Xenogears is my fav sci fi rpg

closed_account356d ago

Right? There's a serious lack of classics on this list.

The original 2 Star Oceans. Rogue Galaxy...

IamTylerDurden1356d ago

Rogue Galaxy never got that critical love. Beautiful PS2 game. Was it L5?

closed_account356d ago

@IamTylerDurden1 Yep, Level5. Love their stuff. Dark Cloud 3 please...

Godmars290357d ago

Why aren't there more? A Star Trek RPG for one. Or something with non humanoid aliens?

shinoff2183357d ago

Cause for some damn reason medieval is more popular ugghhh. I'd take some sci fi sh anyway over it. I've said time and time again I hope the elden guys are working on a sci fi type game.

Godmars290357d ago (Edited 357d ago )

Something non-post apocalypse or dystopian. Just world saving. Fighting bad guys while doing good and dealing with ethical/moral/psychological quandaries.

sadraiden356d ago

The reason why fantasy RPGs, and Fantasy as a genre, are more popular than Sci-Fi, is because of the low technology/high magic tropes. If all of your problems can be solved with looking up the answer on a smartphone, well, there's just lower stakes than if a character has to have a sword fight, and climb the tower, and rescue the fair princess and recite the ancient incantation to seal the evil.

Obviously you can have universe ending stakes in Sci-Fi, but that requires abstract reasoning, and an ability to RP in a way that is progressive instead of regressive. Couple that with Sci-Fi games and media generally being faster paced, and you've got a genre that attracts a very specific demographic of gamers.

just_looken357d ago

or go crazy and make a starship troopers rpg can you survive the bug fight?

The animated show was great showed what someone can do with the lore.

Fist4achin356d ago

A Starship Troopers game as a real time strategy like the command and conquer series would be awesome.

just_looken356d ago

@fist

We have that today but its a small team with a smal budget
https://www.youtube.com/wat...

Its not a major rts sadly but a start

jznrpg357d ago

I really hope Naughty Dog is doing a Sci-Fi game. As a lover all most things RPG I would love to see Naughty Dog quality in an RPG.

porkChop357d ago

They could do some really great stuff with sci-fi. The sense of grand adventure of Uncharted, but also with the stealth and crafting of The Last of Us. Different planets, creative alien races, collecting junk to craft repairs and upgrades for your ship and weapons, etc.

shinoff2183357d ago

Porkchop

Your getting me excited for something that doesn't exist. Damn

shinoff2183357d ago

He'll yea , hope we here something about that if they are. I'm not to worried about factions at all

just_looken357d ago

If it was the old naughty dog i would want that the new naughty dog no thanks.

IamTylerDurden1356d ago (Edited 356d ago )

TLOU2 is the finest game ND has made. U4 was fantastic. New ND is a more impressive ND. I don't rate Crash n Jak like i do Uncharted and TLOU. Even Uncharted 1 and 3 were not as well crafted as TLOU, TLOU2, U4 imo. Idc if ppl troll TLOU2, most ppl are clueless, that game was incredibly impressive.

TLOU2 combat, visuals, and acting were the best of the genre. I found the story deeper and more profound than most but it's subjective. The level design was excellent also. The score. Audio. Animation. It was a masterpiece to me. The rope physics, detail. TLOU2 deserved Elden Ring scores and ER deserved TLOU2 scores. If any game deserved 97 in recent years it's TLOU2. Best game i ever played and if ppl come with Abby bs i already know it's not worth it. Those who call TLOU2 trash are foolish. Just look at it running...

Damn, some good news for Bioware/Mass Effect at last!

ClayRules2012665d ago

Nice! Love Deus Ex and absolutely loved the story on Guardians!

VersusDMC665d ago

Hopefully it's for lead writer on Mass effect. But that would mean it's way off.

Regardless...i mostly loved Guardians for the story so it's a good get from Bioware.

I wonder if Embracer group is slimming down Crystal Dynamics...
