The Big List of Nintendo NX Games

Warp Zoned writes:

"We know that the NX will be at least as powerful as the Wii U, and probably on par with the PS4 and Xbox One. We’ve also heard about a handful of game announcements, as well as a few more projects rumored to be in the works.

And that’s where this list comes in. We’re going to keep track of all the NX announcements (and rumors) in one place so you don’t have to."

As long as they get those third party games Nintendo NX will be just fine. If not.............history will repeat itself.

cleft52817d ago

Some of the most memoriable games I can think of are on the WiiU. It would be nice if they had third party support for those that ignore other consoles for some reason. However, I will just gladly settle for a powerful console that lets 1st and 2nd party games shine. I love Xenoblade Chronicles X, but the whole time I kept seeing how all of the technical limitations clearly stopped Monolith from pushing the limits. I want to see what Nintendo does with a truly powerful current gen system. Does it need to be as powerful as the PS4 Neo and Scorpio? Well it would be nice if it was comparable.

hells_supernova2817d ago

I am assuming you are very young and not played any other iconic Nintendo games because every other Nintendo console has had better Mario games, Better Pokémon games, Better Star Fox games, better Smash Bro's games, Better Mario kart games and they had Metroid and Zelda which the WiiU currently does not.

The WiiU is a disaster compared to Nintendos older offerings and giving them a pass lets them get away with it for another console cycle.

When Nintendo are good they are the best in the business but the WiiU has been anything but the best.

* I don't mind the NX being a mostly Nintendo games machine, but it needs to get Dragon Quest 11 over in the U.S.

If we that, I'm happy.

loverlink2817d ago

At this point, Nintendo should just risk it and not give 2 fks about third party support. Make it the only console out of the 3 that essentially has exclusives for that system and no where else. The only thing they can hope for is have their core supporters in the nintendo only market.

Deadpooled2817d ago (Edited 2817d ago )

That's a big list

And yes, I'm back! And no more "W-words" I see Chris hates the word more than F-words and gives instant 1 week bans to whoever uses the word (rhymes with "bore" incase anyone is wondering what word it is)

Idiedgoodbye2817d ago

I know what you mean, I know of ppl who were banned for dumb shit haha

Deadpooled2817d ago

Thanks, the week felt like a month, good to see though loads of articles on proper games like No Mans Sky, a welcome change from that Niantic cash grab "game" which they reduced the "capture rate" by 20% (in other words, they ruined it)

wonderfulmonkeyman2816d ago (Edited 2816d ago )

If third parties put out new games/the newest UPCOMING multiplats first, and old ports a distant second, it'll go a long way towards helping the NX sell.
If the do the opposite, like they did with the Wii U, by putting old ports in the limelight, they'll be helping to kill the NX off early, by driving people away from getting the system for third party games, because people will think there's nothing on the system from third parties that they can't already get on other systems they've bought.

This next bit is probably going to earn me a lot of downvotes from people that hate the idea of third parties supporting Nintendo with worthwhile exclusives, but I'm used to downvotes from people that don't want to see Nintendo treated the same as the competition by third parties, so I don't care...
I feel that Nintendo would be really smart to rope in Bayonetta 3 and Beyond Good & Evil 2 for the first quarter of the NX's launch window, because it's big games like those that people buy systems for, when they arrive in big enough numbers to form an attractive package.
It would also help if they convinced a couple of other big name third parties to announce new IP's that will at least start on the NX, if not stay exclusive, to draw bigger attention from the core audience that wants big third party games.

Three or four big name third parties bringing core-focused exclusives to the NX launch would turn some wallets towards the NX's launch in a MUCH BIGGER WAY than a bundle of old ports from last gen ever could.
To be honest, in fact, old ports are no longer a safe sales bet for third parties on a Nintendo home console, but loading up on big exclusives that the core third party loving crowd will want is something neither Nintendo nor third parties have really done for a Nintendo home console since the N64 era, when Nintendo still had Rare under their wing.
A return to that kind of output from third parties, on a home console like the NX, would be a God-send for Nintendo, and a money-printer for third parties, if it were advertised right..

As for Nintendo themselves, they need some big surprises.
I hear stirrings that Retro might be working on a new Kid Icarus game for the NX, and there were rumors of an upgraded version of Smash 4 under prep for launch, amongst other things.
Here's hoping Monolith Soft does a teaser for Xenoblade X2. That would make my YEAR.

iplay1up22812d ago (Edited 2812d ago )

X2 would be fantastic! Also the Story will be even better, the fan feedback from X was they wanted a deeper story. Monolith said they were already planning on just that.

Smash would sell too, 4 is not my favorite, but all of my friends love it. Especially 8 Player,

Beyond Good and Evil was fantastic, very Zelda like. With BOTW being so different, I kind of hope BGE2 follows a slightly more traditional (but not stale) formula than BOTW.

BOTW, the Zelda I think I as well as many gamers have always wanted, and should sell NX, as NX will have improved Visuals.

I would like to see, Eternal Darkness, as a launch title. Nintendo keeps renewing the IP, so let's hope they use it! That game has not aged well, but is still great. Even an HD remaster with better gameplay mechanics, and improved visuals. That would be INSANE. Get it the infamous insanity meter. That freaked me out on many occasions!

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is the anti-Breath of the Wild

Polygon: "To get back to the way Ocarina made us feel, it was necessary to reject almost everything about it."

Ocarina of Time changed my life forever, such a masterpiece

Zeldafan64125d ago

Hard to believe it's 25 years old already.

Cacabunga125d ago

The feeling this game gave me the first time i had my hands on it is indescribable.. i still get the chill from that day..
botw is like a spin off of the series.. it’s fun but with many flaws and the most important which is Zelda formula isn’t there..

FinalFantasyFanatic125d ago

I can't even remember how many times I played through OoT, I finished that game, and collected everything so many times.

Vits125d ago

I generally agree with the author here. However, if I had to point out a single game as the 'anti-Breath of the Wild,' that would be Majora's Mask. Pretty much everything in that game is interconnected, relies on something that the player must have done previously, is timed, and can be considered a puzzle in itself.

gold_drake125d ago

but still considered the best of the seties.

i would have liked botw to be more like ocarina.

franwex125d ago (Edited 125d ago )

25 years from today whatever Zelda is out people would too be looking fondly at Breath of the Wild.

Ah the more simple times of the 2020s.

Nintendo not thinking about older Zelda games, "difficult to say" if classic style will return

The Legend of Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma has again commented on the possibility of revisiting the style of past entries in the series – but there are no plans as of now. Speaking with RTL Nieuws, Aonuma said that games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom were possible because of what came before them.

Which is very sad. I still wish we could get a zelda like twilight princess, the dark tone and theme in the traditional style. But times have changed and the masses prefer open world sandbox. Smh. Perhaps we can get a proper hd remake of ocarina of time some day.

CDbiggen264d ago

I played 100 hours of Tears of the Kingdom, enjoyed it, but ready for a game like that next.

kythlyn299d ago

If they can bounce between 2D and 3D Mario games, they can bounce between classic and modern Zelda games too. I thought this was a given when the Switch combined a handheld with a primary console.

Inverno299d ago

Then this is where I part ways. I won't disagree with anyone who says that the old formula was getting stale. And I do think BoTW in a few ways was a step in the right direction, but there's way too much good that was left with the old formula in the transition.

CrimsonWing69299d ago

I want it to. I’m sorry, but these new Zelda games I just can’t get into.

Duke19299d ago

Well that sucks. I still love the classic formula WAY more than the Hyrule Engineering Simulator
