Glad to hear the motion controls don't hinder the game. Sounds like it turned out pretty well. Might have to check it out.

superchiller3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

Except, most reviews do mention that the motion controls basically ruin the experience, and the game is sitting on Metacritic with an overall score of 71 ("mixed or averge reviews"). Doesn't sound like it "turned out pretty well" at all, really.

EDIT: The author admits that the motion controls are a gimmick, that the graphics if some levels and enemies are mediocre, and that the "stealth" segments aren't that great, but still says it is the best Starfox game to date, and gives it an 8/10 rating? Only a diehard fanboy would do that.

jlfleur3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

71 is a decent place to sit. I don't necessarily agree with the general consensus that a game that scores lower than an 8 is bad, though. So, the motion controls couldn't have been that bad in my mind.

I don't know that I've seen any reviews say that the game is ruined by motion controls, though. I've read that they feel forced, but not that you should chuck the game out the window as a result of them.

EDIT FOR YOUR EDIT BECUASE YOU EDITED: The best of something simply means that it's better than the previous iterations, which is entirely possible generations after Star Fox 64 released, so yeah it's probably the best. Second: do you consider 7's and 8's good or bad, because your comment seems to contradict itself.

SHUT UP! DO you ever tired of being such a troll? You have not played the game. I have and I own it and if you want I will take a picture with your name on it proving so. They do not ruin anything they just take time to get used to but once you do they are much more accurate than pointing an analog stick. The graphics look fine not award winning but fine they are crisp. Oh and Wii U is outputting the game twice. So rendering the game twice so it's rendering a game in total of 1200P at 120 FPS on both screens combined.

superchiller3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

I guess a 71 is a "decent place to sit" if you're satisfied with mediocre games, so I agree with you there.

EDIT: Did you look at the other Metacritic scores for previous Starfox games? Almost all of them are higher than Zero. And Zero's score is boosted by a few diehard Nintendo fansites, like uoroxx or cheatcc; take those skewed reviews out, and it would be well into the 60s. That makes Starfox Zero oneof the worst games in the series.

8.0 is a "very good" score, again well out of line with the majority opinion. What's so surprising is that the 8.0 review mentions several serious problems with the game, but still raves about it being the best Starfox game to date. Can't have it both ways.

jlfleur3293d ago (Edited 3293d ago )

I like how being a fan of a series automatically rules out someone's opinion. You bring up the scores of previous Star Fox games (not reviewed by this same reviewer, but I suppose that's besides the point). Certainly no previous Star Fox games have since been reviewed in the far more biased eyes of nostalgia.

As for this review being outside of the majority opinion, I'd far prefer there to be outliers to the consensus than everyone following suit. I'm thankful there are reviewers who will give their honest opinions regardless of its popularity. And to your point, there are plenty more reviews out there who are giving their honest opinions. I'm not sure it's worth belittling those opinions by labeling them with unbased accusations of bias.

superchiller3293d ago

Well, please do come back to the comment sections here, and offer your own impressions of the game, after you shell out $60 (lol) for it. We'd all love to hear how great a game it is.

jlfleur3293d ago

As I would encourage everyone to do, I will base my choice off of a multitude of reviews of differing opinions to come to the one that's right for me. Thank you for providing yours.

superchiller3293d ago

So, does that mean you're going to buy it, or you still haven't made your mind up despite 60 reviews already out? You certainly don't sound too enthusiastic about it, but may just be your style.

PygmelionHunter3293d ago

Seriously, you guys get too worked up everytime superchiller and his other basement dweller friends come trolling the Wii U section.

I actually read the comments everytime after checking the articles just to get a laugh at these cliché self-entitled and hateful "gamers" who would rather complain about games they don't even own or consider buying instead of actually playing video games, let alone living their lives, however sad they must be.

So, someone seems to think being a fan of a series means you love it regardless of quality. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm EXTREMELY critical of new games in a series I love. I'm far more aware of little problems/missing details in those instances than I am with any other game.

Random: Takaya Imamura Ponders The Possibility Of Star Fox Zero On 'Switch 2'

It's a good ponder. Nintendo would be stupid to not do it. The more titles and first party line up released on the Switch 2 the more enticed the customer will be.

Star Fox Zero, Was it Really That Bad?

Has time been kind to Star Fox Zero? Does the game have any redeeming qualities that are worthy of revisiting? Should it be considered for a port to the Switch? Was it really that bad?

Haven't played it since it came out, but I really enjoyed it. Can't tell if that's just nostalgia-tinted glasses, or if I actually consider it a good game though lol.

Vits1278d ago

It's a mediocre game that reuses ideas, scenarios, characters and moments from previous ones. Paired with one of the worst control methods that I had the displeasure of using.

CptDville1277d ago

Those controls. Boring and frustrating at the same time. Only with co-op they were bearable, but co-op was restricted to finished levels.

SeTTriP1277d ago

Yes couldn't finish it it was so boring.

MissAubrey1277d ago

controls made me stop playing also what good is a 65inch tv when you have to look at a tiny Wiiu tablet.. same with kirby & the rainbow curse..

Einhander19711277d ago

No it was great, just the control scheme spoilt things really. The wii u screen was not needed for it really

I’d rather Star Fox Assault be brought to Switch with online multiplayer instead

Teflon021327d ago

Finally, someone who knows about Assault. Best Star Fox Multi-player imo.

Neonridr1327d ago

or a Star Fox 64 remaster instead.

deadfrag1327d ago

Platinum Games wants to many things but sadly it does not show nothing new for years! They try to jump on all offers but end finishing none!

whitbyfox1327d ago

1: Get rid of the motion controls.

2: Bring us Okami 3.

Good-Smurf1327d ago (Edited 1327d ago )

I rather have them show more of Bayonetta 3 first before they talking about any new project.
This reeks Inafune's funding for Red Ash and Mighty No.9 animated series, both never materialized.
