SumoGamer: It seems that the downgrade the graphic quality in games has just started in recent years, but you won’t believe that we are playing the graphic downgraded games from last decade. The developers show us the awesome, great looking trailers and gameplays before the release date of the game but when premier the amazing effects …

brothers in hell was a pretty decent game it wasnt a downgraded game man

NukaCola3306d ago

Killzone 2 was not downgraded. That was a CGi trailer that pushed the studio to live up to what some thought were "unrealistic visuals" on console. Then the game game out and it was the most beautiful shooter on console and on top of that a near prefect shooter.

Kyosuke_Sanada3306d ago (Edited 3306d ago )

I love Killzone 2 and it's gameplay is one of my favourite (if not THE favourite) I have ever experienced in a first person shooter ever but I am not going to lie to myself and say that it's graphics matched the CGI trailer. Guerilla Games has managed to set numerous benchmarks in a shooter I have yet to be seen surpassed today though.

Rhythmattic3306d ago

I also think the graphics in K2 did surpass the trailer (Atmosphere, FX) , what didn't match up was the animations.....but def no slouch..

specialguest3306d ago

I thought KZ2 release version actually looked better than the CGI trailer. I think people mistake the smooth CGI animation of the trailer for being visually better.

ChuckTheIceMan3306d ago

Wrong! The controls were the worst of any fps game ever!

Lisica3306d ago

It sounds like you didn't see the E3 trailer. I don't care that much about the graphics. What hurt me the most is that the gameplay was dumbed down for console players. I guess Road to Hill 30 is still best in the series...

OoglyBoogly3306d ago

Goddamn I wish people would get off the Watch Dogs dick when it comes to downgrading. It's been PROVEN that the game simply had a couple effects disabled. Unlike games like The Division or The Witcher 3, Watch Dogs actually kept a lot of the same assets like textures, models, props, etc.

Minus some fog/smoke effects and some light bulbs being 3D models instead of sprites Watch Dogs wasn't THAT downgraded. OMG it's missing some extreme depth of field that actually sucks in the final game (if enambled on the PC version)! Worse downgrade ever!

Please, if anything Watch Dogs was probably one of the least downgraded games released in the past few years. Games like TW3 or Siege looked COMPLETELY different in nearly every single way! Completely different character models, way better detail and textures, better physics, etc. Watch Dogs doesn't come close to these levels of before and after as other games on this list.

Don't get me wrong here, it's not like I'm trying to defend Watch Dogs or anything. I didn't really think it was that good anyways. All I'm saying is that people always bring it up when talking downgrades as if it went from PS4 level graphics to PS1 level graphics. That just isn't the case. It still on the whole looks the same. I just feel that it get's a lot more SHIT then it actually deserves when other games are a lot worse (like the beloved Witcher 3 that always gets a pass when talking downgrades).

nowitzki20043306d ago

And Witcher 3 has how much more content than Watchdogs? And Witcher 3 was the best looking game for current gen when it was released.

Are we really comparing Witcher 3 with Watchdogs here? LMAO

OoglyBoogly3306d ago (Edited 3306d ago )

We're talking DOWNGRADES. Not amount of content.

I knew someone would fly in to the Witcher 3's rescue all while ignoring the massive downgrades that occurred. Typical really. Blinded by fanboism despite the fact the game took a dramatic turn.

http://static2.gamespot.com...
http://static1.gamespot.com...
http://s4.postimg.org/mjymk... < = 100x worse than Watch Dogs ever was.

nowitzki20043306d ago (Edited 3306d ago )

"We're talking DOWNGRADES. Not amount of content."

Which is why I said..... "Witcher 3 was the best looking game for current gen when it was released."

Watchdogs was not the best looking game.

Blinded by fanboyism? Tell me that Witcher 3 is not one of the top 5 games of the last 15 years.

More like you being blinded by hate.

Difference is Witcher 3 is a great game where Watchdogs is like below average.. So obvously Witcher 3 is easier to forgive.

OoglyBoogly3306d ago

Bullshit. Just because the Witcher 3 was a better game doesn't mean that it just get's some free pass.

In case you forgot, we're talking TOP GRAPHICS DOWNGRADE. Not "Because I liked the game other games that weren't as downgraded are somehow magically more downgraded".

Talking purely graphics The Witcher 3 received a MAJOR downgrade compared to Watch Dogs. Watch Dogs simply had a few post processing effects disabled (which if enabled on the PC version made the game worse like the DoF which made the game freakin impossible to play) and a couple different assets here and there. That's it. Everything else we were shown was still in the game.

The Witcher 3 however basically changed everything! Different NPC models, different building models, different tree and foliage models, less NPC interactions and stuff they would do, worse looking water and particle effects, etc. The 2013 demo looked like the next-gen version of the Witcher 3.

So explain to me how TW3 changing everything for the worse is somehow, graphically, better than Watch Dogs which just about only disabled a few processing effects?

Remember, this isn't about comparing final graphics between games. It's about pre-release graphics vs. final graphics on a game by game basis. The amount of changes, for the worse, in TW3 far surpasses that of Watch Dogs. Period.

kraenk123306d ago

People that complain about 'downgrades' don't have a clue about game development and should question the development for consoles in the first place which most of the times are the actual reason for it.

OoglyBoogly3306d ago

Obviously, still doesn't change the fact that games are downgraded.

Neixus3306d ago

Comparing CG trailers to the actual game is so incredibly stupid. As they do with Killzone 2.

That's like expecting World of Warcraft to look like the CG trailers.

Kyosuke_Sanada3306d ago

When a game companies says it's real time footage, what do you expect.

_-EDMIX-_3306d ago

Yeah but that's completely irrelevant to the entire point of the topic.

It wasn't a downgrade because it wasn't even the game in the first place...

Rute3306d ago

The text in that article is almost unreadable due to the gross errors in grammar and spelling. I think it's a work of Google translation or something.

Example from the article: "CD Projekt Red tool a long time to maintain the game, they used with the same texture as the demonstrations, and the impression weaker visuals caused a lack of sharpening filter."

Darkwatchman3306d ago

I was just about to comment that until I saw this. Everyone in here arguing about graphics downgrades and stuff, but I'm more put off by the awful writing in the article than any of the graphics downgrades.

Watch Dogs Deserves A Remake, More Than Ever

With the world of information and technology, privacy and security growing every day, Watch Dogs deserves another chance in the spotlight, now more than ever.

RaidenBlack1365d ago

The only Ubi title that deserves a faithful remake right now is Splinter Cell 1.
All 2014+ Ubi titles are just underwhelming. Especially ones from 2016+ are just cancer.

LucasRuinedChildhood1365d ago (Edited 1365d ago )

Seriously, are we so far removed from Ubisoft actually making good games that people now praise Watch_Dogs in retrospect?

"Watch_Dogs has remained one of my favourite games of the last ten years." Jesus Christ.

HankHill1365d ago

I remember being so disappointed in Watch Dogs when I played it at release. It was alright, but I think I fell for the hype and I needed a game to play on my new PS4.

obidanshinobi1365d ago

This is what happens when mediocrity gets praised as good.
Standards are slipping across the whole entertainment industry.
What was once considering rubbish is now considered as OK, what once was OK is now being praised as good etc etc.

LamerTamer1365d ago

Everyone has their own likes. I liked it a lot myself. I played through it twice and liked the car chases and the open world with fairly decent environments and missions. It suffered from the whole downgrade thing where they showed graphics that weren't actually there. No game will appeal to everyone but it was still ambitious for it's time.

gantarat1365d ago

assassin's creed 1 should get a remake.

ExBee1365d ago

For certain! AC1 was brilliant at the time but with new graphics and gameplay it would be amazing! Do you prefer old combat or new though?

RaidenBlack1365d ago

I'd say a reimagining of AC1.
I direct AC1 remake would be a bad idea. It'll need better story pacing and significant better world building.

BlaqMagiq11365d ago

Old. Let it play like how it did with AC2-Syndicate style gameplay but refine the setting and story.

Profchaos1365d ago

It would need a lot changed for it to be enjoyable again as even back in 2007 on launch we were all complaining about it's repetitive gameplay go here perform one of three side quests repeat then assassination now do it over and over until a big battle with a unforgiving checkpoint system.

BlaqMagiq11365d ago

Absolutely. It needs it. The only AC I truly didn't enjoy.

chicken_in_the_corn1364d ago

I'd prefer it didn't. Ubisoft would make it so bloated, it wouldn't be anywhere near the original

smolinsk1365d ago (Edited 1365d ago )

Absolutely, this watch dogs legion was terrible boring.

Profchaos1365d ago (Edited 1365d ago )

As a fan of the franchise legion was garbage and I regretted my purchase for the first time in the franchise the entire thing felt like an experiment in NPC behaviour and released without the writers input on what makes a good story.

I don't think I'm alone in that feeling though as wrench and Aiden are brought back and the campaign was rewritten to fit them.

I am tempted to buy the season pass to play it again with Aiden but fool me twice shame on me I'm waiting for a deep sale

camel_toad1365d ago

Agreed. Despite the annoying hipness of the characters in part 2 I thought it was a really fun game. I was extremely disappointed and surprised at how many steps back they took with Legion. You'd think it was made by an entirely different team. Or was it?

It was just so devoid of fun.

LamerTamer1365d ago

Honestly one of my biggest annoyances with Legion is that they took out the camera views for the driving. I mean the behind the car view that they stuck us with is near unplayable. I always used a first person driving view. After two releases why did they take OUT features? I don't get it.

TheSinsibleOne1365d ago

The fist watchdog game was the best by far
After that they weren't weird and annoying with that hipster stuff. Aiden was a badass.

LamerTamer1365d ago

I thought so at first too. I got used to it and it ended up being good after some play time. I just had to give it a chance.

TheEnigma3131365d ago

Remake the PoP series from xbox/ps2/gc era

RaidenBlack1365d ago

They are remaking Sands of Time.

TheEnigma3131365d ago

That's good news. Hopefully it's done right.

Inside the Driver game that died so that Watch Dogs could live

From VG247: "When cars slide, they leave tyre marks. In a game like Driver, they’re an aesthetic touch, part of the inherent cool of a handbrake turn. But those dark shadows in the road also tell a story. From tyre marks, you can determine the speed of a vehicle, when it started to skid, and its ultimate direction of travel – long after the car itself has vanished into the distance."

vallencer1430d ago

Different spellings in different parts of the world friend. Tyre is a correct way to spell it.

Pridefall1429d ago

Dunno why you got downvpted when tyre is correct in Australia.

neutralgamer19921430d ago

Give us driver San Francisco remastered

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen1430d ago

Why did they stop making some of the best games ever? Driver was one of them.

Gameseeker_Frampt1429d ago

Assassins Creed 2 showed Ubisoft how to make money and Far Cry 2 showed them that gamers don't like complex ideas. Now Ubisoft just turns out games that are just variations of the same thing.

WeAreLegion1430d ago

Best driving mechanics ever made. Nothing has come close.

Gardenia1430d ago

A story driven game with pure driving gameplay. I'd love to see a new Driver game or a remake of the first one.

ApocalypseShadow1430d ago

Yes. This one. A definite remake of the first without adding any ridiculous fluff. The first game had great physics and sound for its time. The start of the car in the beginning cinema I watched constantly. My father and uncles were big muscle and classic car freaks. Only thing crazy about the game was the relentless cops in the last level. Insane the way those police cars were and launched at you.

Bleemcast made it look better just like PC emulators. But would definitely take a remake.
