Gadgets 360 says: "Dark Souls 3 might not be the last game in the series, but it's easy to see why it could be."

Doesn't read like a 8/10, he mostly complains about the camera and the performance (on XB1, that is).

joab7773316d ago

Reads like a 9 or a 9.5 if it gets the patch to fix framerate issues.

He lives everything and says it's improved on everything from previous games. Except the menu. But to be honest, if we had to wait til May or later to play b/c of the menu...I'm fine w it. I have no problems navigating. It's actually a bit nostalgic.

PurpHerbison3317d ago

I found only a few bosses to really be memorable. That is probably cause humanoid bosses bore me. Bloodborne really spoiled me.

Nivekki3317d ago

How'd you manage to get the game so early?

LAWSON723316d ago (Edited 3316d ago )

Not really sure what you mean by humanoid. From what I have played not many bosses are humanoid than again alot of bosses in Dark Souls are pretty unique.

rezzah3316d ago

Humanoid as in body that stands on (2) rear limbs and uses the upper body (2) limbs to maybe wield some sort of object.

The less relation to the description above the more inhuman something will appear.

Free_Fro3316d ago

I agree

I enjoy fighting creatures/beasts rather than humanoids.

speaking based on bloodborne..

I haven't played DS3 yet.

Even in DS1 we got a good mixture of bosses. Even some of the monsters with humanoid qualities were good in that game cause they weren't just some knight in shining armor swinging a sword. I do understand this is purely preference though. Some people like fighting knights.

averagejoe263317d ago

Is it bad that I'm so hyped for this game that an 8/10 worries me?

Then again, the only negative points they made were technical issues, which don't bother me at all.

PurpHerbison3317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

Well, I give it a 7/10 right now in this current point in time. Tons of things wrong with the game but it still has redeeming points. It feels like they took DS2, streamlined it even further and slapped a shiny coat of paint on it.

DivineAssault 3317d ago

You know this how? Did you make a JP account, download it, and finish it? BB is a whole new engine from DS2 and DS2 was streamlined.. The others were rated M and had all the great things people love about the series..

Im not taking these people's review seriously anyway.. I know the game is better than this.

PurpHerbison3317d ago

Yes, that is exactly what I did. I beat it on the 3rd day after release. I'm slightly confused, do you think DS3 is running on the BB engine for some reason?

SCW19823317d ago

Purple DS3 does run off the BB engine

bangoskank3317d ago

What makes you think it isn't running on the Bloodborne engine? I call bs. If you have time to finish a game like this in three days you are probably not mentally sound, therefore your review lacks credibility. I think you are trolling though.

PurpHerbison3317d ago (Edited 3317d ago )

I have played every Souls game to date. Outside of fighting games they are the only games I played this generation and last generation. It is absolutely pathetic that those that haven't even played the game yet are trying to combat my opinions, someone who has not only played the game, but has beat it. You guys must be really bad at Souls games if you think 3 days is some sort of feat.

@SCW1982, I'm going to need a source outside of some reviewer that thinks that is so. DS2 engine was MADE for nextgen multiplat Souls games. BB engine had Sonys hand involved, what makes you think they would use that engine for a multiplat? The last time they tried to do that was DS1 and we got performance issues because of it. Their remedy was the DS2 engine. http://www.ign.com/articles...

Tell me why they would create a new engine, then just forget about it? It is cause they didn't. DS3 uses the DS2 engine. BB was built and optimized for the PS4. Makes no sense to try to use that engine.

Caedus5113317d ago

@Purp http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

No more trying to dance around what engine the game uses, ok?

PurpHerbison3316d ago (Edited 3316d ago )

Funny, but that was the article I was talking about. And you STILL linked it. Good lord. Have you even played BB? Have you even played DS3? The amount of misinformation is astonishing. I'm starting to think I'm getting trolled. You ignored every single point I made, you even ignored the fact that DS2 engine was MADE for next gen. Tell me why they would make that engine and scrap it? It makes absolutely no sense. My link at the very least had an actual interview with the devs.

“The thing we prioritized when re-creating our engine was, as a concept, taking the graphics to a more photo-realistic look, and in order to fulfill this, we had decided to discard our old engine and create a new one.”

Once again, I must ask. Why in the world would they do that, just to not use it in the very next game in the series? And again, why would they use the BB engine when Sony was involved with that? THINK.

Souls fans will enjoy the game no matter what. However, DS3 does nothing to innovate the formula so it's probably a good thing it's the end.

Der_Kommandant3317d ago

I don't care if the critics give this game a -5 out of 10, this is my most anticipated game of 2016.

Caedus5113317d ago

I will second that opinion!

Review: Mastering Dark Souls 3 Is A Monumental Achievement - Gamescordia

Dark Souls 3 is easily the most replayable game in the Dark Souls Series. But, is the game good enough to spend nearly 10 hours killing Silver Knights alone?

These games bore me to tears. I don’t mind the difficulty it’s just the constant killing the same enemies over every time you rest that makes it so monotonous

jznrpg527d ago

You open up a lot of shortcuts so you can skip many enemies. But if I don’t like games I don’t buy them.
