Stop Right There, Criminal Scum: Oblivion is Ten Years Old Today

Alex from GamersFTW writes:

“Today, Jeremy Soule posted the Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion soundtrack on his Facebook wall in celebration of Oblivion’s tenth birthday. That’s right, Oblivion is ten years old. If that doesn’t make you feel as old as the undead Nordic warriors of Skyrim, I don’t know what will.”

Does time ever fly I remember playing this on the 360 on a CRT TV thinking it was the best graphics ever

escott0133325d ago

At the time they pretty much were some of the best graphics, especially in it's genre.

That moment when you walk out of the sewer.... One of my all time favorite gaming moments.

DivineAssault 3325d ago

That was when playing a console was close to playing a PC game on your TV.. A monumental step in gaming. This gen wasnt as big of a jump but its still a smooth experience none the less..

I agree about the storylines in Skyrim, there was something little off and lacklustre about some of them. Let's hope they learn from this give us a really smashing one for the next game. Oblivion came out 10 years ago! Eurgh, I feel old.

INMATEofARKHAM3325d ago (Edited 3325d ago )

I turned 39 yesterday... So, this news is just insult to injury. lol

Man, Oblivion was fun. 100 hours over two characters and I never once got a Gate closed. I was constantly distracted by what was over the next hill or around the next bend.

Maybe one if these days...

ahmedghoula3325d ago

i have fond memories with this game, when i think of it, i remember late nights, rain outside, I'm covered in a blanket with nothing but my hands coming out of it, sipping hot cocoa... and playing this until the early mornings...

i was a kid then, i remember spending hours and hours trying to meet the grey fox(i think) until i finally managed to do it...
oh and the dark brotherhood was so much better in oblivion than in skyrim...

c00lvilKid693325d ago

Your experience sounds like me from a parallel universe! Haha! Definitely much better than Skyrim, I agree about that.

sullynathan3325d ago

still as bad as it was 10 years ago. The worst TES game.

Muadiib3325d ago

The best TES game by far.

sullynathan3325d ago

has the most generic setting of all TES games (standard high fantasy forested green setting), with stupid AI, lies about radiant AI, generic story, bad combat, bad graphics, procedurally generated dungeons that were still mostly the same.

This game was just poor and overhyped because it had decent looking environments in 2006 even though Gothic 3 looked better and was far more varied while being criticized for the same problems oblivion shared.

frostypants3325d ago

I still think Daggerfall was the best. No plot, but the amount of freedom was just insane.

WellyUK3325d ago

you come out with some BS don't you...

sullynathan3325d ago

Of course people think the truth is BS.

If you would like to refute what I typed you are free to do so. Oblivion was a bad game.

Oh man.. I remember my first time playing this and trying to attack a guard or something.. Then they came and wrecked me.. Fun times.. "STOP! RIGHT THERE YOU CRIMINAL SCUM!" lol I had to have dumped 200+ hours in that game maxing out my assassin character.. I loved this game..

c00lvilKid693325d ago

Pretty sure I had a wood elf assassin, actually. He was so dexterous, I could jump from roof top to roof top in the end - essentially a ninja.

DivineAssault 3325d ago

Yeah, i didnt get that feeling when playing skyrim though.. Maybe because i was burned out and didnt put in enough time but oblivion was a great experience..

Jmanzare3325d ago

I made a build like they. Was also the sign of the steed so I was running around like crazy
