Salt and Sanctuary Review | GodisaGeek

Mick Fraser: "This surpasses the quality of the Ska’s previous work and delivers a role-playing opus that seems bite-sized at a glance, but which soon reveals itself to be anything but. Like the blood-soaked, steel-clad love-child of Dark Souls and Super Ghouls ‘n’ Ghosts, Salt and Sanctuary is brutally difficult, beautifully drawn, and meticulously crafted, and what it lacks in pure story it makes up for with atmosphere, depth and charm."

Salt and Sanctuary is getting awesome reviews left and right. Indie game of the yr?

I started as a bearded Knight with blonde dreads and face paint. He resembles a rugged viking warrior. Salt and Sanctuary is a terrifically brutal and visceral game, 2D Dark Souls at its finest.

If you can't wait for DS3, then i'd suggest picking this up on PS4 (currently 10% off) and attempting to prove your gaming might by achieving the Platinum. The bosses are spectacular.

The game is awesome and it deserves these great reviews. I have started with mage class as hoping to do heavy damage as i learn new spells.
Just 3 months into the year PS4 already has 3 acclaimed games, Witness, Firewatch and Salt & Sanctuary; We still have Alienation next month so Each one has potential to be indie game of year.

Definitely agree with you both. I'm trying to get through a few games right now (Toukiden Kiwami is a lot longer than I expected), but Salt & Sanctuary will be among my next purchases along with Alienation. I've been following Salt & Sanctuary for a long time now, and seeing it get a final release is awesome. I'm really looking forward to getting started with it.

And don't forget "Enter The Gungeon". That's another title that I think some people might miss, but if you enjoy the "Rogue-like" genre with games like Binding of Isaac and Rogue Legacy, Enter the Gungeon is another awesome looking game continuing down that same path.

Just going through DS 2 now, it's really not a bad game.

LoveSpuds1009d ago

I thinks it's a fantastic game personally, even the weakest DS game in the series is better than most other action RPGs in my opinion.

Hope you enjoy your playthrough chief 👍

It was a great game, there is no souls game from fromsoft that was bad. My only complaints were the visuals and bosses were a bit too easy. Other than that it was very fun and probably the only soulsbourne game I played nonstop and beat in just a couple of weeks pre-elden ring (Well, it took me to beat three other soulsborne games which took me years to beat to finally actually get hooked to souls, so I was very hungry for more souls lol).

People didn't like it because of no Miyazaki and the only game I really loved from him was just Bloodborne (Ofc the rest were great games too). Bloodborne is my #1, Ds2 is my #2.

Yeah bosses are not exactly hard that I have come across so far. The graphics are a mixed bag, Scholar of the First Sin on PC with no mods.
Admission time even though I own all Souls games day one editions across the formats, Elden Ring was the only one that really clicked with me to a point I had to finish it. Now going back to ones released on PC to finish those or try to. Bloodborne I wish would come to PC but I might fire up my PS 4 again to play it.

It's wonky here and there, but it's still fun to play and a great world to explore.
