In the latest Nintendo Direct, Bill Trinen from Nintendo Treehouse and Satoru Shibata from Nintendo Europe (depending on which version you watched) talked about Atlus’ Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE (formerly Genei Ibun Roku #FE) mentioned that “the game is based in Japan, so we’re keeping its original voice over track.”
Unfortunately, there is something that isn’t being kept like the original, and that’s the clothes of the characters.
While Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE is easily recognized as a Shin Megami Tensei spinoff, it fails to present itself as the crossover it is meant to be.
It was way too much idol culture which idk why they thought itd be a great idea for an smt/fe crossover. I honestly wish they just made it to be a highschool/academy style of game like persona. So much potential it had but its whatever. The game was just ok.
The problem is when this was first announced it was literally Shin Megami Tensei X Fire Emblem. All they needed to do was keep the Fire Emblem strategy gameplay and incorporate Shin Megami Tensei elements and aesthetics. Or hell, somehow collide the universes together with Fire Emblem gameplay.
What we got was really out of left field with such a mashup. I think that’s why it’s disappointing for those expecting Fire Emblem in this game.
I liked TMS but yeah it missed some charm that both series carry in spades
Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is coming back! In 2020, Nintendo is bringing its collaboration with Atlus to the Switch. As is common with these Wii U ports, a little something extra is being added in for the encore performance. But what should someone expect in general, in the event they missed the RPG the first time around? Well, it is something that is a lot more like Persona than either Fire Emblem or Shin Megami Tensei.
It doesn't take much to get people riled up. The next thing folks know, there's outrage over some gameplay element, design decision, or character. Here are ten times a big deal was made over the silliest sorts of things in games.
Forgot the whole 'RE5 is racist" because you have a white character killing black zombies in a country mostly populated by black people.
For me it’s Battlefield 5’s women. Is it really that big of a deal to have both genders represented in a game AND are not forced to play as a female
Jax ending in MK11 was one of the dumbest controversies. People were mad over a non-canon ending.
I see a lot of criticisms over clothing censorship. Yeah, it is a stupid change but overall I am not going to boycott a game due to clothing censorship. But if censorship changes the content of a game (such as Fire Emblem Fates' removal of the touching minigame, or Bravely Second's sidequest outcomes being removed), I get very agitated.
Who cares. A non issue. The game was winning awards in Japan. A games quality is not going to change because of one or two costume changes that most people would not even miss.
And considering this was the original devs who changed it, not even the localization team, it is not even really censorship. They just wanted to change it.
I dont get this one, it wasnt anywhere near as bad as Lin in XCX and the alteration is so minor I dont see what the point was lol.
wtf is wrong with nintendo usa? Is reggie a puritan?
I get the whole censorship complaint thing, I do, but at the same time this is getting a little ridiculous.
Soon we'll have petitions and boycotts over a shirt changing colors.
