Xbox One: Greatest Games with Quantum Break

With the most award-winning exclusives, all of the biggest blockbusters, and an expanding library of Xbox 360 titles available now on Xbox One, this is the greatest games lineup in Xbox history.

christocolus3010d ago

The hype is real. Quantum Break can't arrive any sooner..

lxeasy3010d ago

I can't wait for Quantum Break, Remedy is so talented!!!

christocolus3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

Yup. They are talented and Sam lake and his team are really good at telling stories. This is the most ambitious project they've ever embarked on... Just 2 months now. :)

donthate3010d ago

QB and Gears 4! I cannot wait!!!

jb2273010d ago

Do you think we will see much more of it before release? All told there hasn't been a ton of footage released, especially for the reworked version. I wish they'd release a direct feed hd version of what was shown in Brazil. That was my favorite section released so far, love seeing how the time manipulation works w/ platforming, and the way the environment breaks down & deforms when rewinding & fast forwarding time. On one hand i like it when devs don't show their entire game before release & on the other hand I'd love to see more of the game in action.

What's the word on that MS event that was scheduled for February (if memory serves)? Will there be an XBO section for gaming or a conference?

christocolus3010d ago

Yeah, there will be an xbox and windows event this month. Feb 25th to be precise. I'm sure there will be some new footage of QB, Gears and a few other titles there. QB is a cinematic action game and quite heavy on the narative side so I'm sure they have to be really careful with what they show to the public so as to avoid any spoilers. There will be a major media blow out soon though and I expect we will start to see a major marketing push for QB as we get closer to the games launch.

jb2273010d ago

@christoculus

Thanks for the info...I knew it was coming up soon & I remember MS doing Windows events around the same time in the past but there was never a big focus on Xbox whereas it seems like I recall them saying that this year would be a lot bigger for games.

I would just like to see one quality gameplay story trailer really. I'm all for Remedy holding back the goods for the game proper. I always dig a good story trailer w/ its quick clips of action & different environments though, those are perfect for getting people hyped & curious and for fans to dissect while not revealing much in terms of the full game. I'd really prefer something like that over a new full gameplay section I'd say. Hopefully they show something cool for Gears & I'm dying to finally see what Recore gameplay looks like if they are close enough to show any off. That game has crazy potential if the early talks from the devs are anything to go by. Should be a great show all in all, looking forward to it.

Genuine-User3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

My second most antipicated game is drawing near :)

What a year gamers have ahead of them.

AngelicIceDiamond3010d ago

QB for sure is on my radar. Though I wish MS would update the games list however.

Picnic3009d ago

Well it can't arrive any later.

OpieWinston3010d ago

The game montages MS does are brilliant. For advertising, and the press events.

jwillj2k43010d ago

I thought you already had the greatest games lineup in Xbox history last year. Is this a take back, or is it just an annual thing? Can I assume that 2017 will also have the greatest line up in Xbox history?

DarXyde3010d ago

PS4 is the most powerful console ever created.

Eventually, that will be false. Same logic.

Additionally, it was the "greatest lineup in Xbox history". That actually makes great sense. History, meaning what has come to pass. They didn't say 2015 was "the greatest lineup Xbox will ever have".

uptownsoul3010d ago

"PS4 is the most powerful console ever created." -- Good statement...Sony should use that

uptownsoul3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

"Greatest lineup in Xbox history" -- compared to what though? Are they saying that those 7 games in this Xbox One commercial are better than all the 360 games combined?

@Why o why

"nah, just in a single calendar year." -- The 7 games in the commercial are from 2 separate calendar years

Why o why3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

uptown

nah, just in a single calendar year. Personally I think the 360 had better years but that's debatable and dependant on tastes.

Why o why3010d ago

uptownsoul

my mistake

I went off last years add but now they've extended the titles.

DarXyde3010d ago

uptownsoul,

As it stands, yeah, PS4 is the most powerful console ever created. That is, until (maybe?) NX is released or the next Xbox and PlayStation. The Nintendo 64 was the most powerful console ever created once upon a time as well.

And I'm sure it's very obvious that Microsoft meant the best lineup at any single point in Xbox history. They did, after all, have a new Halo, Forza, Fallout, Tomb Raider, and Star Wars release within a month of each other. Obviously, quality is debatable, but it's obvious that's a matter of opinion.

rainslacker3010d ago

Contextually, it was the greatest lineup for a holiday season. That's how MS used the term anyhow.

ScorpiusX3010d ago

No they are Saving 2017-2018 to reveal the greatest Xbox Console in Xbox history ...... which i look forward to

OpieWinston3010d ago

You do realize the "Greatest games line-up in Xbox History" was referring to their LINEUP of games, not just last years games.

jwillj2k43010d ago

If this is true, then what are they comparing it to? The 2014 line up? Xbox 360 Lineup? If its the former, its an obvious fact based on the number of games in 2014. If the later, than its obviously false.

Why o why3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

nah bro.. when they aired the add it was last years games. It was a line up, NOT as library/catalog

Why o why3010d ago

seems it is actually saying in their history which is definitely off the mark by a long long shot. Even if we counted half of last gens xbox games it would amount to a greater lineup.....more variety and quality. This ad is confusing.

rainslacker3010d ago

It was just a line that allowed them to insinuate that they had the best games to play, and people should choose an Xbox. While the initial quotes were about the best holiday line up, they left it pretty open for the gamers on forums and the consumer to decide what it meant, because all they cared about was people thinking they had a bunch of great games coming.

spicelicka3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

They weren't referring to the games released in 2015. They were referring to the Xbox lineup announced last year E3 and onward.

This included Forza 6, Tomb Raider, Halo 5, Fable, Halo wars 2, Gears 4, Recore, Quantum Break, Scalebound, Crackdown 3, and Sea of Thieves. Not all these games have released yet (obviously).

It's a concurrent slogan like "greatness awaits" for PS4. It'll stay like this until they say something new this E3.

uptownsoul3010d ago

But its not a concurrent slogan. The word Greatest in "Greatest Xbox lineup" indicates greater than something. This Xbox lineup is greater than which previous Xbox lineup?

spicelicka3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

^ Greater than all previous lineups invested in an E3, what don't you understand?

IMO It's really the best lineup this year of any system as far as AAA games go.

Dark_Crow3010d ago

It's called advertising. It's meant for people to talk about it and possibly get excited. It's working wonderfully as people still remember the last lineup and that's the goal of advertising.

Wish the PlayStation was doing stuff like this with their games.

rainslacker3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

Point of advertising is to get people to buy stuff....at least when it comes to a consumer product.

If they want people to associate Xbox with the greatest games, they aren't doing a good job, because it's not really a slogan that's catching people's attention, and even the hardcore Xbox fans seem to think that there were greater line ups in Xbox's history.

People are over analyzing what it's supposed to mean, hence, the slogan isn't becoming something you're going to see on everyone's mind and commonplace...like "where's the beef"...unless that thought is of a cynical nature and isn't really all that catchy.

If people are questioning what it means, then it means they don't get it, and if they don't get it, they probably aren't getting that excited over it. People just aren't remembering it for the right reasons, and to me personally, I feel it's way too subjective of a statement to avoid the fan boy arguments, so within the community, even though it's getting talked about a lot(which is a good thing), it also allows the discussion of other great line ups which exist due to the nature of gamer forums...so it's also giving their competition some attention to those that would read it.

Letthewookiewin3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

I find it odd they are staying with this slogan after the defeat they were hit with last year. On top of it MS doesn't have half of what Sony has coming this year or anything that will eclipse their library.

Lenrulesdaworld3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

Defeat? lmao this is not a football game bruh. It's a great slogan, they already have more 1st party variety this gen than they have had all of last gen. Without many timed exclusives. They'll continue to produce new games as well. Expect these games to be announced either on feb 25th or E3.

Young Conker
Roboraid

"this is the greatest games lineup in Xbox history"
I wonder how long they can drag out the PR line before it becomes a meme of itself.

Dark_Crow3010d ago

Well I'm sure it will. Just like greatness awaits.

DragonDDark3010d ago

Greatness came and we are waiting for more. Aren't you?

Lenrulesdaworld3010d ago

Funny people always get on MS for what they are doing to promote their content. Yet the most people commenting never plan or have no interest in buying an xbox one. So why comment at all, it's a great line up that all went platinum. This years seems even better than last on top of that. More games to announce as well.

rainslacker3010d ago (Edited 3010d ago )

It is the greatest PR line in Xbox history, so I guess until they come up with a greatester PR line like, "We don't suck like we did two and a half years ago." That would probably serve them better right now, since there are still lots of misconceptions about what Xbox has to offer based on early policies. At least then they would force people to wonder what they're talking about instead of ignoring what is apparently just another buzz slogan. Would help capture more of the mainstream gamer who don't follow this stuff much.

Single A games and live service games. Those make sense

S2Killinit45d ago

None of it makes sense. But its happening.

Ps5conehead45d ago

That’s up to Microsoft they want return on there investment. From buying up those publishers. That’s what there in business for. And they made a mistake putting day one exclusive on game pass. So now Microsoft wants to profit any way they can.its called buisness . Just like Sony putting games on pc a year are two after ps5 launch.
So if they can make money off PlayStation and Nintendo. They will do that. And I bet soon real soon they will release some aaa exclusives .and I bet one day it will be same day release

TheEroica45d ago

Sony gamers begging for Xbox games.... Who would've thunk it?

BISHOP-BRASIL45d ago

Yeah, because random site off the internet represents all Sony gamers, they have the letter of attorney and all...

Friendlygamer45d ago

Some of these seem to be exclusive for lack of enthusiasm of the publisher rather than because of deals. A lot of cool indies skip ps for some reason like katana zero, el paso, elsewhere and gunbrela

S2Killinit45d ago

Even more indies skip xbox. We know that right?

Friendlygamer45d ago

Quality over quantity, Microsoft got some really interesting and curated niche games on their machines, maybe in part because of gamepass

S2Killinit45d ago

Quality and MS are not things you bring up in same sentence.

shinoff218345d ago (Edited 45d ago )

Alot of indies skip xbox to. It goes round and round. Personally I think your off base on that but no need to have the argument.

Friendlygamer45d ago

Between katana zero, valheim, Battletech, el passo... I don't feel off base. maybe ps got a million of light novel games that will never release on Xbox but like I've said, I'm talking about niche games highlights, the 10%.

Heck, it's probably thanks to Microsoft that the s.t.a.l.k.e.r games came to console ps included, meanwhile Sony backwards compatibility continues to be extremely anemic.

And I'm sure most ps5 users are happy to ignore these games and just play wathever new 3rd person action game is trending but it's cool that Microsoft gives some love to smaller audiences and software preservation

shinoff218345d ago

Again your off base just to be snide. All it's showing though is your ignorance.

One light novels wtf is that even. Ps has plenty of pretty damn good indies.

Speaking of indies and ms being responsible. You know F.I.S.T. of course you do alot of you guys just support gamepass. Well here's a history of Sony being responsible for helping indies. Look up the China project from Sony.

Lastly lol your ignorance showing again. Sony has plenty of games. Personally third person is better then first anyway but that's besides the point. Sony gets so many games that xbox doesn't get because yall don't support the games. Jrpgs being a great example. I personally am not into every Sony first party game. Alot of us aren't. On the other side you don't get to eat often so you gobble up everything. Me personally God of War not my cup, etc. For me I'm into jrpgs and ms just can't touch Sony on those. Again because the Xbox base doesn't support it. Devs dont wanna waste their time or money. Hit me up when falcom develops a game over there.

Speaking of third person narrative games. Aren't yall drooling over hellblade 2. The first one was Sony exclusive at one point. Another not my cup game. Showing we don't have to fall in line and agree we love everything Sony puts out. The facts are they sell though unlike elsewhere(not nintendo)

StormSnooper44d ago

You are same person as GamerRN, yes?

Abnor_Mal45d ago

They really think PlayStation fans would want to play Redfall? Pfft.

Personally nothing on that list would be any game I’d want to play.

TwoPicklesGood45d ago

I’d absolutely love Hellblade 2, Palworld, and Quantum Break on ps5 as I’m sure tons of others would too. There’s nothing wrong with wanting games from another console and its sad that people try to act like they aren’t interested in them.

shinoff218345d ago

While indont agree with the games. I agree with the point. Your not wrong.

DarXyde45d ago

Sunset Overdrive makes very good sense. Palworld might.

Don't know about the others. Hellblade II does make sense given the original launched on PS4 first. Quantum Break was a massive letdown for me. I absolutely hated the whole TV show thing and I don't think anyone should have to relive that on modern hardware.

Now that Remedy owns Control, it’s time to reclaim Quantum Break

Alan Wake 2 studio Remedy Entertainment has reclaimed the rights to Control, and now sci-fi hit Quantum Break deserves the same treatment.

Totally agree with that especially when Quantum Break has several references to Alan Wake and Alan Wake make allusions to QB.
I do believe that MS and Remedy can work things out and MS has usually been nice to devs and publishers regarding IP.

Obscure_Observer61d ago

They can't "reclaim" what was never theirs.

Petebloodyonion61d ago

I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP.

Lightning7761d ago

MS is not doin anything with it. Plus they're doing a multiverse of their own so Remedy needs the IP.

If MS wants to have exclusive let it be timed for 6 months then go to other platforms. MS seems to be, let's say, generous with some if their games as of late.

Or have QB2 be multiplat from the jump, put it on GP. Keeping QB2 as an exclusive is kinda weird these days.

Obscure_Observer61d ago (Edited 61d ago )

@Petebloodyonion

"I’m sure we can settle for purchase from MS the IP."

Good luck

@Lightning77

"MS is not doin anything with it."

Japan Studio is dead nd Sony isn´t doing anything with Bloodborne either! Yet I can 100% guarantee that there´s a far bigger demand for a sequel, remake or even a remaster for that game from both PS5 and PC gamers.

That been said, why don´t you ask Sony tol sell the IP to Fromsoftware now that according to rumors, they bought Elden Ring from Bandai?

ZwVw61d ago (Edited 61d ago )

Reclaim? That would mean that they actually owned the ip at one point, which they never did (MS always has). Apples & oranges. Remedy always owned the Control ip (just not the publishing), as they have with Alan Wake.

About as likely as them getting the Max Payne rights from Rockstar.

mastershredder61d ago (Edited 61d ago )

Sending you game to a publisher does not mean they get "rights to own it " unless that was part of the contract (monetary/ strategic reasons). 505 was the publisher they worked with to publish and distribute it, it dos not mean that 505 flat out "owned" anything, clearly they did have a special arrangement that made them open to limit their publishing rights. and so here we are and big whoop

Jingsing61d ago (Edited 61d ago )

Yeah get Quantum Break PS5, only if you put it on disc with all the associated movie material.

isarai61d ago

I mean they got the Alan Wake IP back from MS, so I feel like they could get QB back as well

Superliminal
Antichamber
Manifold Garden
Portal & Portal 2
The Stanley Parable
Monument Valley
Gorogoa
Thumper
Inscryption
Q.U.B.E. 2
Darq
Quantum Break
Perspective

The Swapper

IamTylerDurden1358d ago (Edited 358d ago )

I think Inscryption is the best game on that list. PT and Returnal i would offer. Returnal deserves a spot over some of the listed games. Especially after chapter 3. Maybe even Alice MR? Death Stranding? Kojima all together. To much smaller degree Dead Space. I'm spitballing.

I didn't play Thumper enough to see beyond the visual spectacle. Curious choice.

SullysCigar357d ago (Edited 357d ago )

I'd add FEAR and RE7 (when Ethan starts getting visions, especially in the boat) to that list.
