PS4 Version of Yakuza Kiwami Beating PS3 Version “Overwhelmingly,” Japanese Store Managers Report

Yakuza Kiwami has been out for a couple of days in Japan, and local store managers are reporting that the PS4 version is selling a lot more than the PS3 one, as a further sign that the adoption of Sony’s newer console is becoming more and more solid in the archipelago of the rising sun.

Of course, Japanese gamers have been quickly upgrading to PS4s since the price drop and the PS4 version has a Yakuza 6 demo. This is a very big year for the PS4 in every region

So many great games coming it in '16 for PS4.

I understand why they'll release Yakuza Kiwami cross-gen, but obviously a bit of a shame they do, cause it won't take full advantage of the PS4's power...

I really hope Kiwami comes to the west, but in the meantime I guess I'll have to wait for Yakuza 0 (please guys, buy it when it hits the store, please please please!)

Indeed. Really wanted Yakuza 5 to be on the ps4 too but oh well. :/

ColonelHugh3015d ago

That's pretty surprising considering the number of PS3's in Japan. A good portent for PS4 and consoles in general for Japan. Doubly good if that eventually means more Japanese support.

Knushwood Butt3014d ago

Well, PS3 already had Yakuza HD, so this is something of a double dip for PS3 owners.

gokuking3014d ago

PS3 turns 10 years old in Japan this December. It doesn't matter if it's sold 100 million units there. Eventually people are going to get tired of playing games on it (especially annual series like Yakuza) and move on.

FoxyGotGame3014d ago

Great for Japan, but what about Yakuza Kiwami in the West? /

DigitalRaptor3014d ago

Ask that man Gio Corsi.

He seems pretty dedicated in making it happen for Yakuza in the west.

Red Dead 2 ? Who would ever want to play that slow ass bloated overly long game twice ! Not to mention going through those awfully designed main missions.

Storm23369d ago

Agreed. I couldn't even finish it the first time.

DankSinatra369d ago

I mean, I did. I enjoyed every bit of the 3 times I played through it. Just because you didn’t enjoy it doesn’t mean others won’t. Not every game is for everyone.

Demetrius369d ago

Ikr I thoroughly enjoyed red dead 2 one of the best open world games

Levii_92369d ago

But the first game is one of my favourite games ever.. i have no idea what happend with the second game but Rockstar needs to change it’s game design, especially how those main missions are designed. It’s severly outdated. Oh and actually make the gameplay enjoyable and not so slow and clunky.

Believe me, I recently replayed the first one and it’s worse in both structure and game design. Don’t let nostalgia misplace that. RDR 2 is definitely an improvement but it’s rockstar in general that needs to open up their handholding on missions.

I got almost 700 hrs in that game. so, here is at least one person.

Some games have good incentives for multiple playthroughs but you can never beat experiencing it for the first time. Caelid for the first time? Mindblowing. Second time around it's just Caelid again.

Abear21369d ago

Bioshock, Skyrim, and Darkest Dungeon for me

gold_drake369d ago

definitely the Soul games and Bloodborne haha.
