Gone Home falls into the “must-play” category of games and the best way to experience it is to know as little about it as possible. So reading this review is kind of silly, you should probably just go play it.
Dave writes: "If you’re a fan of walking simulators, then the name probably sticks in the throat, but let’s ‘own it’ and chuck the best and mightiest of the genre into a bear pit and let them have at it! Hoo-rah! As with most genre lists, there’s some controversy about what does or doesn’t constitute a walking simulator. Dialogue and navigation is preferred over puzzles and more intensive interaction like combat or QTEs. Jumping/crouching is positively frowned upon. Strap on your hiking boots and let’s ramble!"
Starting today, Drawful 2, Gone Home, Hob, and Totally Reliable Delivery Service are free at Epic Games Store. The free game offers run until April 9 at 10 AM. Once you claim them, they’re yours to keep.
If you're a fan of the narrative-driven walking simulator genre, then these titles really need to be in your Switch games library.
Obnoxiously overrated game.
Played the game all the way through. Has way more problems than many reviews I've seen have addressed. Very poor voice acting and dialogue. Lackluster puzzles. Bad connection of the different characters, despite them being related. Terribly useless character that the player controls. Uninteresting environments. A narrative that preaches tolerance while treating it very unrealistically and in an unbelievable way, making it 100% insincere.
It's not the worst game ever, but this game has problems that need to be addressed. The fact that they aren't shows a huge lack of professionalism and a lack of reader respect of this industry.
Also, this game has been out on PC for a while. Not only has everyone already made up their mind on it at this point, but if it's gonna have a console release (which is okay, for those without capable PC hardware), $20 is absolutely too much for what is received.
