One of the oddest cartoons I have watched on CN.

DragoonsScaleLegends3401d ago

It seems american cartoons have to be weird in a bad way to be popular these days.

gangsta_red3401d ago

I have to admit there seems to be this odd trend of cartoons going out of there way to be "unique". A lot of them I don't mind because a lot of them are actually funny.

But I do miss the old glory days of the 80's where there was one group of good guys and one group of bad guys and they just flat out fought over the most ridiculous plot for that episode.

XisThatKid3400d ago

I watch it with my daughter and she loves it. I'd watch it even if I didn't have kids though. Good writing goes into it but I do agree with the "vibe" though that someone said. Honestly I've seen more bizarre in some of the mainstream anime.

idk how this got loped in with being one of the oddest compared to stuff like uncle grandpa and stupid random stuff like johnny Test or regular show. I mean if you compare steven universe to being a normal human walking into a room full of crazily designed aliens then yea then it would be the oddest.

gangsta_red3401d ago

Uncle Grandpa and Regular Show are also strange but there is a certain theme and plot to it's loonyness(??).

I have watched whole episodes of Steven where absolutely nothing happens and then it just ends.

And then there's this whole undertone theme of emasculation, Steven not having offensive powers, merging with a girl, the gems dancing with one another to merge...I know...crazy talk, but it gives off a strange vibe.

Still a cool show.

I kinda like Regular Show because it does remind me of how life was for me after I graduated. Sometimes I feel that some episodes are trying too hard to cash on nostalgia but I love the characters (Mordecai and Skips being my favourite) and the story has somewhat progression.

I had some fun with Steven Universe as well but as Red stated it does feel a bit emasculating due to most of the males being A-holes and the ones that are actually nice are school dropouts.

Personally I just liked and feel like the cartoons of the 90's and early 20's are way better than now, but that's just my opinion.

@XisThatKid

Of course kids just love these shows and even my parents who watch them with my younger siblings surprisingly. Not me though, 90's/early 20's cartoons are the best or maybe it's nostalgia kicking in I don't know lol.

Steven Universe is good, and watched it until recently, but it should of had game in development!
