I'm very happy about Kojima finally being free and teaming up with Sony.It was the best choice being as he is highly respected by PS fans plus he loves the brand.

Power to Kojima and his gang - though it still annoying that he calls his company by his own name, it't not like he does all the work.

But come on, that Andrew House guy is an opportunistic suit, just like Don Mattrick or guys like that. He's one more of these people who knows nothing about the industry he's in, but is getting his slice of the pie because videogames are booming these days. It's a problem plaguing most creative industries. None of them need sharks like this guy managing them or making decisions for them. They care about money in as much as it means they can put food on the table and make enough of it to survive doing what they like doing, rather than having to get some shit job. Guys like House though care about the money, and care about the craft only because it's profitable. They'd abandon it the moment it started to decline and move on to the next big thing.

I'm not a fanboy, I just like games, regardless of platform. I'd be saying the same if Kojima partnered with Microsoft and had pictures taken with their respective suit. I just wish people would stop jocking these goddamn businessmen.

I feel this move has its pro's and cons.

A large fan base with Xbox Community.

I personally feel there is good and bad with this deal but that is my opinion. I am sure PS fans are happy but seeing his first project go as a console exclusive is just bad.

Kind of depends on what the arrangements are for getting the game made.

For any developer starting a new studio, one of the hardest things is finding a publisher that you can work with, and it's next to impossible to go full AAA with your first venture without that being written out ahead of time. Even with Kojima's name, it doesn't guarantee success...multi-plat or not.

While I understand where you're coming from, because as a developer, I would want people to play my game more than I'd want to cater to a console fan base, sometimes, it's just what you have to do, and it's quite possible Sony just offered him the best deal.

I imagine inside the industry, people knew what was going on...it's pretty insular inside. No doubt, with Kojima's name he was being courted by console makers and other publishers, so he likely had quite a bit negotiating power, and this time Sony decided to give him what he wanted.

OTOH, maybe his Sony preferences were showing, and he's just always wanted to work for them like this.

As a PS fan, speaking for myself, I can't say I'm particularly upset over it. I'm not going to make it into a "Sony wins all" thing because of this, because that would be silly. But I am happy for Kojima, because I know how passionate he is, and I do enjoy most of his work. I also feel that his style and creativeness will fit in well with Sony's game development mentality overall, so I'm hopeful for the prospect that he can flourish there, and remove this idea that he only has MGS to be proud of.

Well said you make valid points. I guess the gamer in me would want to see Kojima provide games to all gamers. However, when you have a great working relationship with Sony, like he does, it means you are more accepting to working with the company that gave you a fantastic start and has helped you have a great career. I see this as loyalty. Much Respect to Kojima for his decision.
