Quantum of Solace's Senior Producer, Garrett Young, tells OXM that he was 'not super impressed' with The Bourne Conspiracy videogame.
Young also mentions that it's tough to make a movie videogame without being able to use the lead character, as Quantum of Solace does.
TGC: There was a time when games based on movies were actually pretty good, and The Bourne Conspiracy stands out as one of the better attempts.
Solid movie licensed game indeed. Its unfortunately another High Moon Studios release (i.e. Transformers & Deadpool) with little hopes of a re-release or remaster happening anytime soon, due to expiring license.
As the world reels from the shockwaves of the seismic news that Microsoft is acquiring the proverbial swamp of the video-game landscape, Activision Blizzard King, it only seems natural that our minds should now shift towards what the fallout will be for presumably years if not decades to come.
Another Prototype would be awesome.
As for Singularity, I don't necessarily need a sequel, I just want to see Raven be able to flex their creative muscle again; not just be relegated to assisting with CoD. A lot of the old guard is still with the company.
That's part of what I'm hoping to see come from this acquisition. Revive teams like Vicarious Visions and Ravem to actually allow them to work on their own new projects again.
I'd like to see Activision get the Transformers license again and continue the War and Fall of Cybertron games. the movie games were crap and the game that combined both movie and Fall and War of Cybertron sucked a new Prototype would also be good as well.
Re-imagining of River Raid and the original adventurer Pitfall. Oh Zork is also a great game.
Everyone’s been thinking about James Bond lately, with the franchise’s latest cinematic release tantalisingly close yet pushed back by the pandemic. It serves as a reminder of the wider obstacles faced by this particular franchise—one that can be nimble, competitive, and invigorating—but yet is a behemoth always struggling against the weight of its reputation in a changing creative landscape. The video games inspired by these films are a particular testament to those difficulties, considering their trajectory: an early enormous success in GoldenEye, through weakly received adaptations and original stories, to a near-decade of non-existence.
not super impressed?
does that mean,he's impressed??
I;LL see if I get super impressed with Quantum of Solace
time will tell
make good use of cod 4's engine
Not super impressed is a nice way of saying they hated it.
haha, very true
i just got bourne and i mean, it is one of the better 3rd person shooters i've played (not the best, one of the better)
but yea, quantum is going to be rather stellar i have a feeling
...hmmmm
He was attempting that combination of tact and honesty. The problem is that utilizing tact begins with curving natural impulses and opinions - honesty. It rarely works out and if one is not careful it comes off as either dishonest or sarcastic.
What he should have said was, "The Bourne Conspiracy as a game was an abortion. The game mechanics were idiocy in motion. The fact that the character could look over a 3 foot box but not jump over it and instead had to travel hundreds of meters out of his way directly into danger was moronic at best. After all it is Bourne. Compared to some other things he did that were cinematic, not to let the player hop a box is just stupid.
The fighting controls were severely and cheaply limited and all for the purposes of unimaginative gameplay. The game ads kept saying you are Bourne but for the coolest moves in the game...you are NOT Bourne. Here is a lesson. Never let the AI do something the player can't do - unless of course the AI is superman. Letting AI fighters use combos impossible for the player is ripping the player off. Games should be fun and challenging, not an exercise in frustration.
Timed button presses? Please. Is this the Kratos Conspiracy? Even worse than the fighting. And the reload times when said button press is missed is inexcusable. There is a reason the Estate yanked the game rights and the game itself just stinks. Quantum of Solace will avoid the amateur mistakes made in building the Bourne game."
That is what he should have said.
Quantum Solace is gonna be one of the best games out this year.
