Chibi-Robo is one of Nintendo’s most charming characters, while the original Chibi-Robo was arguably one of the most unique, interesting and experimental games on the GameCube. By comparison the diminutive bots latest adventure, Chibi-robo! Ziplash on the 3DS plays it incredibly safe. Casting our hero in a simple puzzle-platformer that sticks to the typical formula that has become synonymous with Nintendo’s second string releases of late. As such, it feels like it’s raison d’etre is to fill a hole in the release schedule and flog that adorable Chibi-Robo amiibo rather than create a meaningful addition to the franchise, and unsurprisingly it suffers as a result.
