Ever Wondered How Many GB You’d Need to Install Every Xbox One Game?

Here’s an interesting question; how many external hard drives you would need to have instant access to every Xbox One game available? Finder has that and other interesting data inside.

I reckon this is pretty funny; I have 1.5TB currently of storage. Anyone got 4TB or more?

ShowanW3467d ago

i have a 4TB WD drive on my One. I have maybe 30+ AAA games and still have about 2.5TB left or so.

Will be more definitive when I get home from work

I believe I used about 37% of the drive space.

Junior45653466d ago

So this gen a lot more people buy their games digitally huh? Actually I like buying them digitally also. Sure I can't loan out games anymore but I never really resold my games either.

NeoGamer2323466d ago

I have 2 x 4TB drives on my X1. 30% disc space now free but I expect it to take a large hit with the release of all the BC content (100 Plus games).

oneluckybullet3467d ago

I have 8 tbs of space so Im pretty good for the moment.

SlappingOysters3467d ago

Should get through to year 4 on that, lol.

oneluckybullet3464d ago

7200 rpm on the two externals. i dont use the built in hd. i do most of my gaming on the one. i did upgrade my ps4 to 2tb and works good as well. got alot of space still as the ps4 doesnt use as much on the install

RedDevils3466d ago

8tb lmao I'm still on 500gb haha

sarahnade3467d ago

Haha. And here I was back in 2013 thinking my 500GB HD was more than enough.

TheCommentator3467d ago

None of this would be necessary if we still played games from the disc in this generation of consoles.

UKmilitia3467d ago

we cant because its not fast enough to read from disc.

TheCommentator3467d ago

I know, but as a collector, it would have been cheaper in the long run to spend more on a faster BluRay drive than all the extra HDD space I'll need this gen. I have over 100 XB360 games, and I expect about the same for XB1.

madmonkey013467d ago

ps4 games install from disc in a matter of seconds, so not an issue to delete them and re install if you ever want them again

madcowzz3467d ago

@madmonkey01

But it can be an issue when those games have a bunch of huge patches. My Batman: Arkham Knight data takes up nearly 64 GB, which I would delete (for now) to make a lot of room if not for the enormous patches that were associated with it.

christian hour3467d ago (Edited 3467d ago )

You can still play games on disc, it just installs and runs it form the hard drive because it's quicker so there's less loading and pop in and it keeps your discs looking pretty and new, and you can just delete the games yuo know you wont be playign for a good while from your hard drive.

This gen I've bought everything digitally.

I'm library sharing with another friends console, so he gets my games for free, and I get his games for free, makes the most sense for someone like me on the poverty side of the social class system.

Between us we've bought about 200 games since 2013.

I just delete any I know I've completed 100% and wont be revisiting until nostalgia beckons a year or two later, ones I know I'll be using soon I back up to an external device and the ones I know I'll be playing for years will remain on the hard Drive. I'll never be deleting P.T that's for sure :)

And the best part, I can no longer make the desperate decision to trade them in for bread money which always regret a week later, so now I get to keep my games forever :D Or until an somethign destroys all servers and infastructure and the world is thrown into a dark age :)

Oh and before anyone says "those games will be gone when they decide they no longer want them on the servers" etc... When has this ever happened outside of isolated incidents like XboxOriginals on 360 being removed?

All my steam games, 360 games, ps3 games etc purchased digitally, I can still redownload all of them at any time and have been able to for a decade now.

Long story short... You don't need every game you buy installed on your consoles hard drive, and large external hard drives are cheaper than video games now too so if you've bought digital you can just back them up, like buying a new shelf or storage box for your physical games. As for those who buy physically, just delete the ones you dont use anymore or any time soon, and if you do wanna play em, it doesnt take long to install. If you need to rieinstall a patch for online play, well a little patience goes a long way I guess :3

Unless you die somehow because you went outside to do stuff while waiting for somethign to finish downloading/patching/installin g and you would have been alive had you just been able to stick the disc in or had enough space to keep all your games. In which case, yeah, this sucks :P

TheCommentator3467d ago

I said from the disc, not on it. Since I want instant access to all my games like every generation before it is necessary, for me, to keep them all installed. In my case, buying external drives is just an added expense I would rather have spent to have a machine with a faster BluRay drive and no installs.

I think devs are releasing broken games way more often and patching way too much(see: The Witcher) because of the mandatory HDD installs too, which is another thing that bothers me this gen.

ShowanW3467d ago

@madmonkey wouldn't you have to re-download the huge day (and future) patches as well?

user99502793467d ago

I've got 2.5TBs including internal storage and dont expect I'll need more than that this gen. Sitting just below 50% right now.

‘GTA V Gets Pulled from PS Plus as PC Players Continue to Favor Legacy Over Enhanced’

That’s an awful clickbait title. The use of the word ‘as’ means the first statement is the result of the second, when in reality they’re not connected.

Profchaos7h ago

Also the same for red dead redemption 2 and GTA trilogy (albeit they split that into individual games)

Tacoboto6h ago

It just got put back on Game Pass recently too.

GTA V is the pass-around sub title, and it probably doesn't even matter because everyone owns a copy or even two by now.

Trash article and trash website.

Doesn't even mention WHEN it's leaving.
