Skyrim Remains One Of The Most Beautiful Games Thanks To Its Dedicated & Active Modding Community

DSOGaming writes: "The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was released in 2011 and thanks to its dedicated and active modding community, Bethesda’s RPG is capable of producing visuals that can be compared with today’s titles. Truth be told, the lighting system is not as advanced as the one of other triple-A RPGs, however its modders have figured out ways – via custom ENBSeries configs, 3d models/meshes and texture packs – to turn Skyrim into a gorgeous looking game."

I loved Skyrim and all that but this is BS. As in bullshots. You'd need at least 700 dollars in GPU power to run this above 30FPS. Those ENBs are more taxing then Hairworks. My old GTX 780 I had when I tested these uber graphics mods and the FPS was in the teens.

Allsystemgamer3568d ago

So? Doesn't mean it's not pretty. If you can mod it like this why not? They're not bull shots. A bullshot is a doctored screenshot.

TacticAce3568d ago

It sounds like you are playing at a higher resolution than 1080p, most gpu's today even some that are in the 400-500 can beast skyrim at 1080p even with enb...

I'm actually hoping/waiting for a gpu that can hit 60fps with enb @4k... Now that would be a sight to see...

Dasteru3568d ago

Skyrim is mostly Vram dependent. ENB relies on a decent CPU but nothing major. The textures are all almost exclusively reliant on Vram. As long as you have atleast 4GB Vram, most systems can play this at 60fps without trouble.

Irishguy953568d ago

Maybe because it looks better than everything?

i7 2600k, 16gb ram, Radeon 6870...Ran 50 plus mods, plus Skryim 2k textures perfectly fine.

tbh even the standard game looks good at 1080 with mid to high settings, it's just a great looking game

Maxor3568d ago

The console is still waiting for the remastered version of this game, and even then, they won't be getting these awesome mods.

Kalebninja3568d ago

Any suggestions on how to make it look as good as possible? I have a pretty beast setup (980SC SLI) and I'd like to make it look good like this. I've never really been able to figure it out though since there are so many visual mods?.

Dasteru3568d ago (Edited 3568d ago )

SMC: http://www.nexusmods.com/sk... - You will need to download well over 100 visual mods as part of this combiner, but it will provide links to all of them.

CoT: http://www.nexusmods.com/sk...

ELFX: http://www.nexusmods.com/sk...

Project ENB: http://www.nexusmods.com/sk...

TES5LodGen: http://www.nexusmods.com/sk...

I would recommend getting the USKP mods also if you do not already have them.

I'm in the same boat, I've half heartedly tried to figure it but there is so many steps and I'm afraid to mess something up or download a virus.

With such a backlog I waste an hour every couple months trying to learn and that's an hour less of playing. I so need an easy way to do this.

BenRage33568d ago (Edited 3568d ago )

Look, took me hours upon hours to figure out how to do it without messing anything up. There is no quick way to learn it. You will have to go through a few video tutorials, but after that's all done and you understand how not to corrupt your game save, it's pretty easy. And most certainly worth it if you love Skyrim.

And you won't download a virus if you use Nexus.

sullynathan3568d ago

The graphics here look good and I am someone that likes Skyrim's art style but this won't automatically fix the games animations, physics and overall gameplay either.

Dasteru3568d ago

Animations, physics and gameplay can all be changed with mods also.

sullynathan3568d ago

not drastically enough to feel like a different game.

sullynathan3568d ago

Not sure why you linked me to videos in which the animation still looks the same as the base game.

The cape one was the only one different

Dasteru3567d ago

The first one was a major physics mod. The third is a full conversion to actually make it a different game.

Skyrim lead recalls Bethesda working their “a**es off” to make the game just 4.8GB

As The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered takes up 125GB, original designer Bruce Nesmith recalls fitting Skyrim into a tiny file size.

MS could compress their games on disc

raWfodog37d ago (Edited 37d ago )

Skyrim is still my favorite ES game. I’m playing through it again right now since I never finished it.

jznrpg26d ago

Morrowind is by far my favorite. But I’m getting old and played Daggerfall Morrowind and Oblivion before Skyrim

ActualWhiteMan36d ago

Yeah totally. Definitely won’t be hacking it Nintendo 🤞🏻

Fallout and Skyrim show us that talented developers make great games when you leave them alone

That judicious lack of oversight permeated everything in Bethesda's RPGs, in a positive fashion.

Christopher66d ago

I much prefer a left alone Obsidian and Larian Studios. Bethesda's formula has grown old for me.

anast64d ago

Larian hit another level with DOS:2 and then took it even further with BG3. They do high quality work.

jznrpg65d ago (Edited 65d ago )

Skyrim was a letdown compared to previous games and so was Fallout 4

Kosic64d ago

I agree, I found it an interesting game. But nowhere near worth the hype (unless you include mods)

dmonee65d ago

Skyrim blew my mind when it released. That game took me to the gaming, promisedland. Going back to it when it was updated for the PS5, it felt slightly rough around the edges, but great for its time

TheColbertinator64d ago

We should leave Obsidian alone. Bethesda on the other hand should be kept under constant psychiatric observation.

anast64d ago

Skyrim feels like the game was made in a hurry with a disorganized team.
