It’s been almost four years since the release of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, and while Bethesda released The Elder Scrolls Online, they didn’t provide the slightest hint about the next single player release of the series.

i do love me some TES though. I wonder where they'll go next. Skyrim set the highbar for TES setting IMO. Snowy mountains and vikings FTW!

Im a way bigger Fallout fan. TES was never my thing. I do play a lot of Skyrim on PC, but the modding community is more active. Im hoping Fallout 4 gets as much attention as Skyrim has.

Isnt it weird that From Software released 2 Souls games and Bloodborne since 2011 + DS3 is coming early 2016, while Bethesda Game Studios released just Skyrim?

Weird why? Because each Soul game has at least 100 hrs gameplay excluding DLC and they are some of the deepest most thought out RPGs ever made...

Granted, Eldercsrolls capitalizes more on NPC dialogue and conversation trees but common you cant say they take their time to release spotless sequels when almost all Bethesda games are bug fests can you?

Why all this development time from Bethesda when others offer more games (4???) of similar quality and depth than them?

Now you might think that From Soft has more devs/dev teams working at one time; you'd be wrong since Bethesda is by far the bigger company.

Dont get me wrong here, I'm not on Bethesda's case here just stating an observation.

A lot of the souls game is based around grinding then actual content though it does pad the game up.

How does that detract from the fact that since Skyrim came out, From essentially made 4 (4th being DS3 available early 2016)games whether you grind or not?

Most importantly, since when is grinding NOT part of hardcore RPGs?

And on top of all that, From actually releases working titles at launch, while its worth remembering that Bug/quality testing is one of the most time consuming periods in a games development.

ESO is amazing. We had F3 in 2008, Skyrim in 2011, w/ and announcement in 2010. The earliest we hear about ES6 would be late 2017.

Unless, like New Vegas, Bethesda allows a spin off to be created by someone. Though we already have ESO, and atm, they are doing everything right.

They started Fallout 4 as soon as they were done with Skyrim so it makes sense that they would start it as soon as they were done with Fallout 4.

My guess would be, Dragons are still their since you brought back the Dragons but the shouts are gone because you are not Dragonborn. It takes a couple hundred years after so you see the DB's legacy and the rise of the new Empire.

That's a shame..ESO is Terrible I need a real Elder Scrolls in my life. Hopefully Skyrim will go BC with Xbox One and I will jump back into that for a while.

I'm not sure I'd be able to go back to that sort of framerate with backwards compatibility. It's a great game, but where we are used to next gen type graphics etc we forget how much poorer the last gen quality is.

Doesn't bother me. Im currently playing through Perfect Dark Zero co op on Xbox One and having a blast. Also playing Conkers and enjoying it a lot.
Frame rate, graphics etc mean nothing to me on older games.

ESO wasn't made by Bethesda, it was made by ZeniMax Online Studios.

Bethesda didn't do New Vegas either.

Bethesda did Morrowind, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and Skyrim, all GOTY winners (I think Morrowind won a GOTY, cant remember).

Don't ever link ESO's quality to any other Elder Scrolls game - ESO is a pathetic attempt at WoW.

I am quite sure Morrowind won GOTY that year. But if it didn't that doesn't matter to me or any of the millions who love that game and still think it is the best in the series.

apart from it's one of the only MMO's that has tried a new combat system and hasn't 100% copied WoW. But then again WoW copied things from Everquest but no one ever moans about that.

When oblivion released, it took 5 years and a half to release skyrim. Fallout 3 to Fallout 4 will me taking 7 years!
I'd say 2020 Q4 and 2021 Q1

My first thought was fall 2020 but it just depends on Fallout 4's post launch support. They most likely have a small group already started just as a small group was doing work on Fallout 4 in 2010-11 while they were working on Skyrim.

5 years after Skyrim's release would be next year, surely you don't think they don't have another team working on the next ES game. Between the release of Oblivion and Fallout 3 was two years, between the release of Fallout 3 and Skyrim was 3 years. So by that logic it is most certainly possible for it to release sometime in 2018-2019, perhaps as a cross gen title as the new generation of consoles should be beginning by then.

Played and finished every elder scrolls and Bethesda never disappoints fallout will definitely keep things fired up until the next elder scrolls. Few companies can measure up to Bethesda and its grand designs of adventure. Eso despite flawed in a few ways still manages to give me sore fingers iam sure fallout 4 will break them.

Fallout 3, Oblivion and Skyrim were GOTY's 3 times in a row for a reason - they were in development for years.

When you focus a team on one game for years, you get a better game that sells far more than 3 or 4 annual games in the same period of development, AND you maintain customer loyalty (unlike Ubisoft and EA).

I mean come on, Skyrim sold something like 6 million copies JUST THROUGH STEAM at release, beating out consoles.

Elder Scrolls is the only game I care about from Bethesda and Wolfenstien. Skyrim is in my top 5 games of last gen. Don't care for Fallout at all really.

skyrim is one of the best games ever. ive put a ton of hours into it & i bet if i jump back into it i'd still have loads more to do, its the game that keeps on giving.

and if they're not going to be doing an elder scrolls game anytime soon then maybe they could remaster oblivion?

I don't mind this. I really liked Skyrim, but I absolutely love Fallout. Fallout 4 deserves a long time to stand on it's own before we start to even hear about new TES stuff.

They are already working on Elder scrolls 6. Or a new ip. They always start early stage development just as soon as their current project is finished. A few factors may apply. Such as a smaller group goes on to a new game while the bulk gets as much bugs and kinks out as possible a prepping for the retail release. Or the reverse of that with a small team ironing out the stuff best they can where the large team goes on to a new project. But that's not including the possibility of a vacation for some team members.

Ether way they always begin early development before the current one is out. As with Fallout 3 and Skyrim.

As far as dates for the next game goes, it's anyone's guess. It mite not even be TES6. Are they done with the series? Absolutely not. But I feel 100% Bethesda Game Studios will release a brand new ip at some point. Because in all seriousness as an artist, how much of the same paint do you intend to use? TES is my all time favorite series. But I highly doubt they will just do Fallout and Elder Scrolls till we all die old age. But since the wait time for TES6 will be long and everyone has the MMO taste in their mouths. The next game will be TES6. But I doubt we will get Fallout 5 in the next 2 game rotation. I could be wrong. But that's my thoughts

I just hope that when they DO do the next TES, its characters (especially its followers) will be characters, rather than what we got with Skyrim, which was basically robots.

It was very odd to see: Fallout 3, followers with personality and morality, then New Vegas we had followers with all of that plus more fleshed out backstories and quests. Then Skyrim throws all of that out the window and we get followers who we learn next to nothing about and whom have very little to say. Which is weird, because you'd think that if any character deserved to be fleshed out, it would be a character the player is going to spend a lot of time with.
